Real draft going on right now

Recommended Posts

That 'SteelerGuy' has two TN Titans receivers with Givens and Bennett.....and Stallworth as a 1, who's never had a 1000yd season. I think he's smokin' wafers personally, and he's left himself vulnerable because he'll have to make a trade.

no one ever said that....but he has a better team than he's been given credit for.

And he's a far fockin cry from having "no chance" as you & 34 have said.

Again, scooter, you are being a hypocrite with your logic. He has 2 WRs on the same team, both of whom do not have near the talent level as Moss and Porter. His other WR is mediocre, and will have a QB (Brees) who has worse injury problems than Palmer to worry about (shoulders are FAR worse to deal with for a QB than their legs......unless you are a Vick). His 2 RBs that he drafted later (Green and Fred T) have equal chance to being broken down as a Curtis Martin. His young stud Tinker Bell has lost more games to injuries than Curtis Martin, and his own coach and GM refuse to give him more than 10 carries a game because he sucks for 9 snaps before making one count. His other RB (Julius Jones) has again missed more games to injuries than a Curtis Martin, but you selectively refuse to look at that. Even when he is healthy, his coach would rather give the ball to a Marion Barber to run it in the end zone. And remember the RBs will not get that many TDs this year anyways with TO there to catch the 5 yard slant in the red zone. He reached for a TE (Gates) with 1st pick of 3rd round, that will fall back down to earth when the QB position forces them into more turnovers and less redzone opportunities. His QB is solid (Brady) but expect NE to run a lot more than last year now with Maroney there to take the load off Dillon and Pass.

And you think his draft is the end all be all.

Please quote me saying his draft is "the end all be all"

He has depth at RB. That's all I need to know. He has (potentially) 5 starters, and realistically 3 starters. Which means he can deal for a WR, whereas you're fairly well stuck with the mediocre team you drafted.

I never said it was anything close to the end all be all - just that he'll compete a lot better than you keep saying he will - in fact you've said he won't compete at all, and that's just stupid.

As for your ignorant assumption about MBIII based on an injured JJones last year, I already addressed that previously, yet you repeat it, as though saying it again will somehow make it more true.

Don't put words into my mouth and we'll get along fine. :o

Show me where I said he will not compete. Since you talk about putting words in someone's mouth.....please show me that.

You are flip flopping like crazy. Just go grab a beer or get laid my friend.....chill. You are the only person who is keen on awarding someone the championship today. Lots of football left. And no one knows who will win it all. Again, chill and enjoy the draft like the others are doing (and learn something from it man).

Again: not only have I not annointed anyone champion, I didn't even state that I would have done what he did in the draft.

My only comments to you about him were about your agreeing with Da Bomb that he had no chance and his season was over.

Except it appears you've since deleted your post.

Da Bomb stated

theres drafting value, and theres overkill. steeler dude's season is over. he blew it.

And in the very next post, you quoted him and said "yep - his season is over".

A post which somehow no longer exists. ;)

Wow. Now that's low.

ABSOLUTELY BS...I have not deleted a single post. You are full of shiat. I never said his season was over. Da Bomb did make a comment but I did not. I have been fooling around about the rosters but nothing has been claimed by me. I have given the reasons for my picks. That is all. Go bark some other tree.

BTW last few picks:

I just picked up the Falcons D..... Patrick Kerney + John Abraham on the same DL baby!!! :first:

Alright, maybe I was mistaken, but I was sure you were right there agreeing with Bomb on that.

My apologies. I thought you also had stated that his team was doomed to failure, which I found to be shortsighted.

I am not nearly the supporter of his team you make me out to be - I just thought it premature to rule him out as a contender since the possibility will be open for deals down the road if his gamble pays off.

despite what the others say, sweetness, u got a solid chance to do well this year. but with your team, the injury to moss or especially palmer would probably end ur season... good luck to you with ur team this season. i just wanted to give u SOME praise for ur draft just because alot of people have given u a hard time.

Scooter ive never seen a more agitated attempt at calling someone out. Da Bomb should have hammered you for your tone.

Whatever, i think you're funny anyway. Warren Zevon had a song about you.

To the newly formed league, i cant do it. I would like to but cant. You see I am an addict. I need to make sure i dont take up ALL my life with Fantasy sports. I play in 3 keeper leagues, one that doesnt have an offseason. I can not afford to give the attention it would take to beat you guys, so i cant do it. If I committed, i might die trying and thats not good. Have fun though!

Sweet34, at this point i am sick of showing my cards. I like some of your picks, hate some. I rank Tiki as my #5 so i think he was a good pick as Portis shouldnt have been there anyway. The DWilliams and Rhodes picks were absolutley needed because of CMart. Well done. I like Moss but dont really like how your WRs have shaped up. Upside is what you should strive for in a draft then trade for the vets like McCardel. Miller is good because he has upside which is what you want early in the year. I actually think Miller could absolutely be awesome.

I agree with you and that has always been my position. No team can be ruled out at this time, and I will dare not to do that. 2 years back I won a league when I had picked Michael Vick with my 2nd rounder, Koren Robinson with 5th rounder and Santana Moss as my 4th rounder......but Shaun A (1st round pick), Thomas JOnes (3rd rounder) and some timely pick ups (Kerry Collins late etc) won me the league.

Anything can happen and anything will happen. This team might suck donkey dicks for me, or it might contend. Right now, I like my team a lot. To those that worry about Palmer, I never get their logic. Because they are the same who see Fitz and Boldin as these super studs. If that is true, then Warner will be a top 10 QB easily. And that is not bad given Palmer will definitely play at some point in the season.

I like McCardell's value where you got him, but it reminds me of a PPR league I played in with my top 3 RB with the same bye. Not as easy to stomach when a weaker position takes you out for a week.

I agree with most of the others on the Miller pick. Tons of upside with an improving QB. Miller will probably be the #2 option in the passing game & a red zone threat to boot.

If only the Steelers would utilize their TE more in the passing game.

FF league idea. I'll hit a 10 or 12 teamer. Deeper roster the better which makes drafting more important & time wasted on free league WW pickups less frequent.

A bitter ff league with a bunch know it all fanatics is right up my alley. (Dibs on Moss/Porter combo!)

Steel, Ive got you down as a go. We have 7 now, fellas. We need 5 more, 3 of which have been called out but just havent yet responded. For those not in touch, check the "Jerry Porter" league thread.

sweetness-

did you just take the Falcons D as the 5th overall D chosen? I think that's how I read the order. you really think that highly of Atlanta's D to take them in that spot? I saw Bears, Steelers, Panthers, and god, who else.....someone else.

Jocstrap's team analysis late night!

Angry Squirrels - decent should make playoffs

Steeler Mike - I like but its a crap shoot on which rb to start with LJ, the one he picks will get 0 points while the bench guys get 2td's each -- too many choices WSIS will be is every week question

Ohio River Rats - solid nothing special - 500 record

Flying O's - We have a winner - can the rb's actually score though? but rest of team is incredible

Praire Oysters- We have our last place team right here

Keyser something can't read my writing  - start brooks I like rb's but wr are hit and miss - this is a fun team to have though

BerthaC - rb awesome - wr might catch 10 balls between them all in a given sunday though - However, with SA he can win entire weekends alone

Vipers - Must be a rookie

Ferrets - very solid and see them as a playoff team

Godzilla - solid team with good wins but bad losses thrown in there - hard to tell on this team

Steagles - Peyton needs 40+ td's to win each week here - no playoffs

Da Bears - this team molded nicely after the first few picks, can't stand martin and I wish you would have taken Foster but Williams I can live with. I really like rhodes and think he will produce especially early while addai is adjusting (they won't trust a rookie to save manning early). I see a possible playoff run but lacking the big stud will hold you back from the :shocking: . Much better team as the draft went on though.

And there you have Strapper's team by team analysis. Good night to all!

Solo

Falcons have John Abraham teaming up with Patrick Kerney up front with their stud DT (forget his name). It is a pressure defense which means sacks and turnovers. They also added the safety (Lawyer Milloy) in offseason. They already had Keith Brookings, DeAngelo Hall and another LB from the Ravens (I forget his name). They will be a top 5 D when it is all said and done in my league.

Funny guy.....shock value doesnt hold much water around here, Schleppie! The guy has a nice QB, one great RB, the top TE and that's about the end of his premier players. He wont have a single top 20WR by year's end, which in a start 3WR league has clearly got 'average Joe' written all over it. He had his homer goggles on when he drafted his D, his kicker is a drunk Canadian, and his 2 backup RBs may very well lose each of their starting jobs by midseason. Im not feeling the dominance.

You know Im not goin' that far with my comeback there, but I dont like seeing schleps pop in and praise one team and knock every body down wise guy style......Steeler Mike has a nice team, but winning with backups is schlep-style nonsense....

i know, i was just having some fun. i thought about posting his lineup with only backups in there to refute the guy, but it wasnt worth my time. some people, lol.

sweetness, what WRs are on your radar at the end of the draft here?

All I need is someone for week 3 really (so Samie Parker/Eric Parker is out since they have bye week 3 too)

Marty Booker (my #1 choice for WR #5....can have huge upside with Culpepper in a PPR league)

Arnaz Battle (garbage time catches for a team playing catch up all the time)

Bobby Engram (PPR league this guy can be solid for one week which is all I will need - week 3)

Pinkston/Greg lewis (again, week 3 the Eagles play San Francisco and week 3 is all I will need them for anyways....but who is the #2? Lewis or Pinkston?)

Reche Caldwell (#2 in NE???)

Justin McCareins (#2 with Jets.....might play catch up a lot in 2nd half means some catches .... PPR league)

Cleveland Browns #2 WR (who the hell is he? Assuming Braylon is out in week 3, who will be opposite Jurevicious?)

Marcus Robinson/Travis Taylor

Bills #2 WR (Price? Who is that?)

Michael Jenkins just got picked so scratch that.

The above are more solid. The ones below are ones I have to take a chance and hope and pray:

Reggie Williams - Jax

Charles Rogers - Lions

Mark Bradley/Bernard Berrian (Bears - but who is #2 here again?)

Patrick Crayton (#3 with Dallas....not sure he is worth anything unless Glenn goes down)

Wow....what a list. You might just need one of those Joes for more than one week too, god forbid. Hopefully not.

Id like to say that I really like Arnaz Battle, but he really hasnt done much, and he seems to be injury prone at this point. Marty Booker is looking like your safe choice...or even Marcus Robinson, depending on the matchups. Wow. Where's Joe Jurevicius when you need him?

I am crossing all my toes and fingers for Booker to fall to me here with my next pick. He would be a solid solid WR #5 in a PPR league. Also, I have already have Moss, Porter, DJax and Keenan M so even if I lose one WR for any length of time, I do have 3 good WRs I can rely on. Also, by having both Moss and Porter, if one of them go down, it does help the other out because they get more targets their way. Which is why Engram as my #6 WR is something I like too.....if DJax has issues, Bobby can easily be a #3 WR in a PPR league. He is a safe bet for 5 catches a game 50 yards (that is 10 points) if he is starting.

Oh wait, I can go grab Gabriel and have my 3rd WR from the Raiders.....

JUST KIDDING :first:

i like arnaz battle and was going to recommend him to you if he wasnt gone yet. everyone just assumes antonio bryant will automatically be the #1 guy in SF, but new receivers almost always struggle the first year on a new team. battle is the one guy on that team who has been there for a year with alex smith to develop any level of rapport, and he may be the go-to guy this year. thats still not necessarily worth a lot, but i can see him being a handy backup guy to have, especially in PPR.

i think reggie williams would be a good gamble too. no one knows what will happen in jacksonville, and reggie is the most talented of any of the WRs on that team. if he develops into the #1, theres no reason to believe he wouldnt be able to put up jimmy smith sort of numbers.

at this point in the draft, i wouldnt be trying to find a good week 3 matchup. its 3 months away and nearly impossible to pick a backup WR for one week. i would instead try to grab a couple of high upside guys and hope for the best. if it works out, youve got a week 3 option. if not, you probably only score 0-5 points from one WR spot that week, but whos to say that the other options here will surely get you more? id draft the upside personally.
