p.man 7 Posted June 1, 2006 Zoolander to the rescue today! It's early but the Yanks lead 1-0 going to the bottom of the 2nd. The Tigers are trying to avoid a 4 game sweep.
p.man 7 Posted June 1, 2006 Verlander who? The Yanks have 4 doubles so far and now lead 5-0. Posada just doubled in 3 runs. I was expecting the Tigers to win tonight with the Yanks having D.Jeter, B.Williams and G.Schefield being out of the lineup. Not to mention Matsui being out. Verlander who? It's still early though. Edit - Update! The Tigers put up 3 in the bottom of the 4th. It's now 5-3 Yanks going to the top of the 5th. As the Tigers pull closer Giambi hit's a Hr to make it 6-3 Yanks. Update! It's now 6-5 Yanks as they go to the top of the 6th. This has turned out to be a very fun game to watch. Update! We go to the 8th still 6-5 Yanks.

swamp dog 0 Posted June 2, 2006 The Tigers win it in the bottom of the 9th to avoid the sweep.Final score Tigers 7 Yankees 6. This was a fun game to watch. it was a fun finish. overall, the tigers took their lumps this series but they never quit, never give up. they could have folded tonight after being down 5-0 but they fought back. that's not mentally easy to do. Voltaire 5,505 Posted June 2, 2006 On a scary note, the Yankees get a look at what life will be like after Mariano Rivera. Not true. They'll just buy three more just like him or better.

"Bitter, party of 1" I'm not saying that the Yankees don't have all stars on their team. They certainly do. However, the one person that they can't do without is Mo. When are Eric Gange's or Chris Carpenter's contracts up ... why can't you just go ahead and buy them now since you need temporary help anyways? It's just a matter of time until they're wearing pinstripes anyways.

The Yankees will have a production dropoff no matter who replaces him.
Voltaire 5,505 Posted June 2, 2006 Both on the DL Uh uh, the Yanks are really screwed. Tell me Barry Zito isn't hurt.... tell me! Tell me Bartolo Colon is availible... Minnesota is a poor team. I'm sure Johan Santana can be aquired.

The Twins will not trade Santana

I actually don't know much of anything in baseball anymore, if I come across as clueless, it's true. I've kind of tuned out the sport and the Yankees are a big part of why. It seems to me every offseason the best FAs availible always land in New York. So when I see a NYY fan crying about a player, it's like... since everybody on their roster has been stolen from every other team in the league- Shut the F*ck Up. I don't know the Yankees are shedding crocodile tears when they purchase the top players everywhere else. It's impossible to feel anything but hatred (and certainly not a drop of compassion) for that team at all.

It's impossible to feel anything but hatred (and certainly not a drop of compassion) for that team at all. Your hatred comes across loud and clear. Also, you didn't need to tell us that you don't know much of anything in baseball...that came across as well. The players that make their team go weren't on any other team. (Jeter, Mariano, Posada, Matsui). These guys have played their whole careers with the Yankees. While the Yankees have added other players from other teams (ARod, Shef, Giambi), to say that they have lifted their entire teams is ridiculous.
ZeroTolerance 584 Posted June 2, 2006 Dibble pointed out something last night regarding Verlander. Apparently he had a nice cut on his index finger, which kept him from using his breaking ball, thus making him nothing more than a 99 mph pitching machine. Hopefully this isnt a trend (blister against Baltimore, cut against Yanks).
