Reuben Droughns

Recommended Posts

Of course i'm not going to say that Droughns should be the #1 RB on your team but I believe he can be a great #2. Here's why.

1.) Brown's offense will be improved with Frye in his 2nd year

2.) Kellen Winslow is healthy this year and a real threat

3.) Braylon Edwards has Joe Jurevicious lining up next to him.

4.) They have an improved line adding LeCharles Bentley and Kevin Shaffer

5.) Droughns has no competition at all and will receive all goal-line carries, which will be alot more than last year.

The Browns won't be a playoff team this year, but will be much more competitive.

Braylon won't be back until at least October...and will he be 100%???

I wasn't aware of that. Anyway, Winslow Jr. will still be a big factor and Frisman Jackson is capable. I think Droughns is capable of 8-12 TD's this year, and for a #2 RB that is more than you can expect. I'm in a 12 team league and you don't find teams having a RB core of Marshall Faulk/Eddie George in their prime on the same team anymore. With all the RBBC's in the league it is more important to have a balanced team.

He's going in late 3rd/early 4th in most mocks...that's not a sleeper. Plus, he's an undisputed starter.

There's no reason to believe he won't at least match the yardage numbers from last year. And he's bound to get at least a few more TDs.

True, maybe not so much a sleeper, but someone who will go higher in some drafts than expected. I'm in an auction for the first 3 rounds, so I think he could go for cheap.

andre davis isnt even on the team anymore. and kellen winslow has all of 5 catches in his two year career.

i happen to like droughns too... but at least get your facts straight.

Thanks Bomb.

ggroovy, it will greatly enhance your credibility when discussing a player if you at least know who the other people on his offensive unit are.

My bad, I made a mistake and I realized it when looking back. I was totally thinking of Frisman Jackson who had a couple good games last year when I wrote Andre Davis. I was going off the top of my head without looking it up. Anyway, Braylon Edwards is supposed to be back early October recovering from a torn ACL. I had the same surgery and I was 100% in 8 months so I think he'll be back after 2-3 games. Oh well, besides that, my point on everything else is still correct.

The main thing for Reuben Droughns is that Cleveland's offensive line should be majorly improved.

I don't think Frye throwing to the combo of Jurevicous and Edwards, even if healthy, is scaring anyone. That's a pretty weak combo-a career #3 WR and barely more than a rookie being thrown to by another almost rookie.

I do agree that Droughns should do as well as last year, but I'm not sure how much those TD's will go up. They are an improving team, but they don't have much of an offence.

I think I agree with you, ggroovy. Droughns will get the goal line carries and we all know how Schotty likes to run the ball. Also, when you consider that Byner will get most of the third down work, Droughns should be well rested to carry the ball in the fourth quarter.

The main reason why Droughns had so few touchdowns last year was because the Browns' offensive line were horrible in goalline situations. The interior of the line would get pushed around, and Droughns had no where to go. The signing of LeCharles Bentley, a two-time Pro-Bowler, figures to change that.

Plus while Bernie Kosar doesn't have a rocket arm, he's still intelligent enough to keep defenses honest.

1.) Brown's offense will be improved with Frye in his 2nd year

It's your assumption, he didn't show that much promise last year with a 72 QB rating and more INTs than TDs

2.) Kellen Winslow is healthy this year and a real threat

How do you know he is healthy and he was a threat in college not NFL, and hasn't played in 2 full seasons believing he is healthy or an NFL threat after all his injuries and 2 years off is an assumption.

3.) Braylon Edwards has Joe Jurevicious lining up next to him.

Joe J is an improvement over last year, but this isn't a guy that requires that much attention, JJ is a posession receiver

4.) They have an improved line adding LeCharles Bentley and Kevin Shaffer

Their offensive line should be improved a lot with Bentley, but Shaffer is no sure thing, just ask Atlanta

5.) Droughns has no competition at all and will receive all goal-line carries, which will be alot more than last year.

Yep, same as last year

Droughns is a #2 RB in fantasy football and I wouldn't expect anything more, most of what you say is a total assumption except for the improved offensive line. But don't underestimate that Frye is gonna struggle. I had Droughns last year and he did flash some great yardage numbers, but I am not buying the offensive hype surrounding Frye

But who am I to be believed, I am a biased Steeler fan so don't listen to me.

And the touchdown numbers should go up, now that Droughns will have Bentley pushing forward instead of Faine being pushed backward.

He had a 72 passer rating. That's actually pretty good for a rookie.

I look at Droughns as very solid #2 with some upside. I mostly see Frye as maybe a #3 QB if you have the luxury of a large roster. If not, then he's a guy to watch closely on waivers. Winslow is possibly a guy to take a chance on in the late rounds. Reports coming out of minicamps sound encouraging.

D*ckhead, but funny. I'd do the same thing.

Browns RB Reuben Droughns could face an NFL-imposed suspension if he is convicted of assault charges being investigated in Colorado. He is charged with two counts of harassment and one count of assault. All three charges are misdemeanors. Each harassment charge carries a penalty of up to six months in jail. The assault charge carries a penalty of six months to 18 months in jail.
