Kitsnow 0 Posted June 30, 2006 All the "good" defenses are taken. Who do you go for. I'm seriously considering Arizona or St. Louis because of matchups. Wise or am I just a Fool.
Kellys Heroes 0 Posted June 30, 2006 I would take a team like Ari if I had to choose between those 2. Are there any forgot teams left Like Philly; they have been falling off the charts only beceause they had one bad year.
remote controller 143 Posted June 30, 2006 I think the Pack could suprise. I also feel any Norse division def could shine, do to the tendency to turn the ball over. When picking a defense up late, Td's off of turnovers can be huge. Alot of new young talent on these squads defensively.
akaoni 0 Posted June 30, 2006 First, this depends on scoring. In my primary league, since we score- 1 pt. per point allowed, scoring defense is the first priority, then takaways and TDs, but in a standard scoring system, turn overs are king. Cinci is an a unit that was a bit weak vs. the run last year, but they were opportunistic, and forced 34! turnovers. Although their numbers will probably drop some, that's still good production. I also like Minnesota's D. They play in the offensively challenged NFC North, and if their offense improves this year (how could it not?) their D should be better. A couple of super sleepers: Cleveland has been steadily improving unit. I used their D a couple of times last year because of good matchups and they served me well, I think they only get better with additions including Willie McGinest. They'll surprise some people. I also think that Detroit could be a good late addition. Again they play in the North, and the Bills, Jets, and 49ers are some of the offensive juggernaughts that Detroit will face this year. Finally, as to the AZ, STL question, I would pick the former and avoid the latter.
Kitsnow 0 Posted July 1, 2006 well this is the scoring system Defense will be 2 for INT, 1 for sack, 6 for TD, 10 for shutout, 5 for under 10 points of the 12 teams these are the defenses already taken. Bears panthers giants cowboys colts steelers jags falcons ravens seahawks 10 defenses taken so far only 2 players left to pick.. one of them me. The big noticable missing is Tampa Bay.. whose matchup I don't like alot but am still considering. (maybe the other guy will take them firsT) Recomendations? RLLD 4,275 Posted July 1, 2006 I am not that picky about my #2 D, but there are considerations. 1) When my defense plays say...the Colts, who that week is facing a sucky offense? 2) When my defense is on a BYE, " " 3) Of those that fall into these categories, who performed well last year 4) Of those that fall into these categories, who made important defensive upgrades. 5) Does the team in question have a dominant RB 6) Is the team in question capable of scoring at all? Perhaps they rely on ball-control/clock-control, which keeps my Def off the field.

When picking a defense up late, Td's off of turnovers can be huge. Alot of new young talent on these squads defensively. in leagues i played in last year that valued turnovers, ints, and sacks, the packers defense ranked an average of 27th. and as pickett was ran out of st louis and promptly blew off his first offseason workouts with the packers, and woodson hasn't played more than 7 games in a season since 2001 or so--and the packers could be starting 2 rookie linebackers--i can't see any significant ff improvement for their defense this year. i think only the most die-hard packer homer would pick up their d and start them in the above scenario.
