Domanick Davis - What's up with his knee?

Recommended Posts

What is everyone hearing about Domanick Davis and his knee? In mock drafts, he is consistantly getting picked in the early 2nd round. But the last I heard, Davis is still struggling to recover following knee surgury (per KFFL in late June). Has anyone heard any updates on him? I think he is a great #2 RB if healthy, but would stay away from him if he is still recovering. What are you hearing?

He still has swelling in the knee. It's a major red flag in my book. If I had a draft today, I would avoid him like the plague. There is a lot of time between now and the start of the season, but you have to think that at the very least his conditioning will be affected.

He is on my do not draft list (well he would not be my #1 or #2) unless he goes thru camp without a single blip. Cause if he has a blip in the preseason, just imagine what the regular season will be like.

I agree with Jay. You hope to have him recover from the swelling, by the end of this month, but if not, you really have to wonder..

His knee is looking fine. I played golf with his uncle a few weeks back and he is ready to go. If he proves to be unproductive this season, it won't be because he was injured to start the season.

I am not so sure with the last part of your reply. Case in point, Micahel Clayton last year who was suffering from a knee injury and never got on track last year.

Question is this... is the knee going to be a chronic problem? You'll have to wait and see.. up to this point his injuries have been ribs and ankle related, not his knee, though I do think he had either a thigh bruise or something to the leg in addition to the ribs at one point year before last. Any arthoscopic procedure is going to have some swelling and such. If the knee poses a problem in camp or pre-season though, then it could be an off/on issue during the season.

I don't trust anyone sitting out of conditioning 2 months before the season starts period! And the stationary bicycle doesn't count as conditioning!

The thing that sticks with me about Dom this offseason, he got hurt doing walk throughs. He experienced swelling after walk throughs...uh, that doesn't sound very good.

Put a helmet on that knee, and this guy is going to miss time this year. No doubt

So will 80% of NFL RB's..... question is how much time and what will he do when he does play.

I'm thinking about picking his backup for a week 3 bye, I don't think he makes it to week 1. He's not right. I think Morency will be the guy if he can get his foot squared away to practice.

Um no. NFL RBs get hit in the knee constantly. If an NFL RB got injured every time someone hit them in the knee, you'd have rosters with 35 RBs.

And I'm sorry, but swelling during a WALK THROUGH, when you had your surgery in December, is a bad thing. They're going to have to go back in there unless he makes some pretty serious improvements.

I agree. I'm avoiding him like the plague. Arthroscopic surgery was 6 months ago and he's been rehabbing all offseason. First walkthrough and it swells up again. Reason he had the surgery in the first place was inflamation that caused him to miss time last year. It's almost a certainty that they're going to have to go back in at some point. Too much risk for where he's being drafted.

It's really a shame. Davis has managed to put up pretty good points in that fantasy wasteland for years... and now they get Kubiak, I really think he could have had a terrific season; But I won't be taking the risk w/ a knee injury.

Overreact much??

I'll take Davis at the 11-15 range if he's there; then I'll get his backup for insurance. Geez guys, wait for us to get close to the season before jumping to conclusions. When this guy is on, he's top 5 and now with Moulds there to take heat off both him and AJ, Davis should be even more effective.

We are close to the season, preseason starts in a month. It's been 6 months since his surgery.

Ignore red flags much?

He had surgery 6 months ago. He tries to do a walk through, and his knee starts swelling. That usually means something is still very wrong and he needs more surgery. Players start running 6 months after ACL surgery, and all he had was "a little clean up?". Can we say red flag?

You go ahead and make DD your 1st pick at 11. Then come back in Jan and let us know how that worked out.

I'll break it down again.

ACL surgery + 6 months = running.

Arthroscopic surgery + 6 months = can't walk without swelling

Yeah, lets not overreact to an alarming lack of healing and make this guy your RB1. Goooood plan. (not to mention DDs injury history. How was DD last year in FF playoffs? Oh that's right, he was hurt and didn't play. Score.)

so how does having Moulds help keep Carr off his back? :D

there are only 2 things that i like about Fragile Fred, oh, i mean Chrissy Brown, oh i mean Domanick Davis this year:

1. His ADP should continue to drop w/ the more negative speculation about his knee - if he falls to the 3rd i MIGHT consider him because he does perform well when healthy.

2. Someone else is going to draft the guy in the 2nd and have to deal w/ the injury headaches when they happen and hopefully that will be in the week that i play that owner.

I think you have to pay attention to the offseason reports. He hasn't made it on the field all offseason. I have the same issue with Darrell Jackson. When Jackson was questioned about his knee and getting on the field, he gave a confident "I don't know".

He might have good value late in a redraft, but at this point he is very questionable...2 months left till week 1. So who knows.

You are giving up on a very good back who is recovering from injury so you can pick up a very average at best one who has always been even more injured?

I'm looking at Morency as a bye week replacement in my keeper league. the 'Dominator" is already on a roster, and I'm looking for value in the mid to late rounds of the draft.

better have a plan B for Dom this year

Picked A Smith off FA; If Dom misses anytime; I hope its in the beginning. Note to Hou; bring him out at a 100%.
