torridjoe 48 Posted July 11, 2006 This is quickly becoming the Midterms of the Grassroots, at least in terms of funding. National House and Senate arms of the Dem party are outraising the GOP for the first time in almost ever, and across the country netroots-supported Dem candidates are seeing unprecedented fundraising success. People like Jim Tester and Darcy Burner are raking in the dough $20 at a time, and to the list we can add Joe Sestak, a first-time candidate (and Iraq war vet, I believe), who pulled down $700K in the 2nd quarter of 2006 for PA-07. His opponent, 20-year incumbent (and batsh!t insane) Curt Weldon, took in about 400K. For comparison sake in the district, the last FOUR Dem candidates for that seat raised a total of about 100K combined. Sestak pulled in seven times that in just one period! His current total is 1.2mil. I wish this much money didn't have to change hands in a freakin' House election, but if that's the game, I'm glad both sides are finally playing. edit--yep, Vice Admiral, Iraq and Afghan vet. http://www.sestakforcongress.com/
