What will become of Ashley Lelie

Recommended Posts

Mike Shanahan, tired of Ashley Lelie's desire to be a #1 WR, trades him to the Chiefs for disgruntled WR Eddie Kennison. An angry Kennison agrees to show up to the Broncos training camp only to find out he's 4th on the depth chart, finally in a spot in line with what he's being paid.

Angry about his position, Kennison abandons the Broncos the night before their opening game. The following Tuesday, claiming it was a misunderstanding, asks to rejoin the Broncos. Shanahan and the rest of the Broncos are disgusted he has the nerve to ask to come back, and put it to a team vote. The team votes 52-1 to kick Kennison off the team. The one vote in favor of him returning is made by Rod Smith, who is quoted to say "I just want to see all our players on the football field. Period."

Meanwhile, Ashley Lelie becomes the undisputed #1 wideout for the Chiefs, only to find out Herm Edwards has no plans to throw the ball at all. After the first 3 games, with Larry Johnson having 290 carries and 1000 yards but no touchdowns, the Chiefs are 0-3. Deciding they need to throw the ball to "keep teams off balance" in the red zone, the Chiefs bring Eddie Kenninson back in, and pay him like a #1 receiver, and he assumes that role, pushing Lelie back to a #2.

Upon hearing he has been demoted to the second receiver spot, Lelie immediately quits the team. Only to find out that no other team now wants him because they all have serviceable #2 receivers. Lelie drops out of football completely and is never heard from again and is last seen crashing into the 'Humunga Cowabunga from Down Unda' wave in Hawaii.

That's how I see things playing out. Sorry, slow day at work.

Us Broncos fans are still mad at Kennison for bailing on us a few years ago the way he did. I think Shanahan would rather have a swift kick in the groin than trade Lelie for Kennison.

I'm bored at work too

If I had to guess I'd say he goes to GB for a 4th round pick with the possibility of becoming a third round pick if he miraculously catches 51% of passes intended for him.

Leli is acting like a baby. Why doesn't he just show up do his job and see what happens rather than act like a fool? Who knows, he might have a decent season and then get paid as a free agent in 2007.

Pretty funny! But I was wondering about something....if the vote was 52-1, does that mean that Kennison voted against himself (seeing as Rod Smith was the 1 vote for Kennison coming back)?

Well, I can't say I disagree with the conclusion at any rate :bandana:

I hope the Niners give up a 3rd rounder for him. I mean, who's attitude can be worse than Brandon lloyd

Wow, the original post was well thought out and pretty funny.

But I am fairly certain that the NFL could sell out their pre-season games if they would make the half time entertainment Shanahan getting kicked in the nutz.

I was glad to hear that Lloyd was gone after he was a cancer in the locker room. I also heard that he had an incident with then 49er QB Cody Pickett about a pass and Pickett thought Lloyd should have made more of an effort to get the ball while Brandon blamed Cody for the bad pass.
