tecklc2112 7 Posted July 31, 2006 From KFFL: Jul 31 The Detroit Free Press reports Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz had praise for Lions' RB Kevin Jones after practice Sunday, July 30. "Kevin Jones really understands what we're trying to accomplish," Martz said. "He's doing a great job with his run routes. He's really starting to show what he really is. I think he's just going to have a terrific year. I really do." My only concern with drafting KJ this year is his ability to hold on to the 3rd down role as well. He was worthless last year as just a 1st/2nd down back. Any thoughts on KJ? Detroit homers?

He was worthless last year as just a 1st/2nd down back. Any thoughts on KJ? Detroit homers? Everyone is going to come running into this thread and say: "It's coach speak and it means nothing". Which is probably true but it's certainly better then hearing negative news about him. I read that KJ was catching 200 balls a day in the offseason in order to develope that aspect of his game. Martz obviously likes a workhorse do it all type of back and I think he'll give KJ the oppurtunity to be that until he proves otherwise. Honestly, KJ looked so inept at times in the passing game that I can't see him making a complete turnabout in one offseason. Look for Bryson and sprinkle in some Calhoun on 3rd downs. Mack 1 6 Posted July 31, 2006 KJ's biggest threat -- other than his fragility -- will come from Shawn Bryson. In that same article, Martz paid Bryson a high compliment too. I think preseason game #3 should be very enlightening as to how he will utilize the RBs.
Churchill610 0 Posted July 31, 2006 I surely hope he gets his act together during camp, especially in the passing game. Jeebus, he was atrocious last season.
ffdomino 0 Posted July 31, 2006 Welcome to the world of Fantasy Football. I would like to stated a few axioms that may help in your strategy for fantasy. 1. Shanahan will piss you off if you have a Denver RB 2. Go RB early in the draft 3. Kickers and Defense should be drafted last. 3. Mike Martz will piss you off more than Shanahan as far as RBs go. FantasyKing 4 Posted July 31, 2006 Martz was later quoted as saying, "Those 10 carries KJ gets a game are going to be huge. And if we aren't down 28-0 at halftime, he may even get 15 carries."

lechuza 0 Posted July 31, 2006 if shawn bryson is a threat to him, then it means kevin jones isnt a starting rb in the nfl

harken34 0 Posted August 1, 2006 If I was a head coach or assisant I'd want my RB to think I praised him so he would finally pull his head out of his ass and doing something.

No sir, NO ONE will piss you off as far as RBs go, than BILL BELICHIK, trust me I will NOT draft Dillon in any league this year, I don't need the aggravation again this year ! I don't care if he is available in the 10 th round !
