dynastybaby 0 Posted August 18, 2006 Hey guys, I wrote a few weeks ago about my friend Greg Zolan who was battling cancer. The members of the board were so positive & thoughtful towards Greg. I just thought I would let you know that he passed away tonight in peace & no pain. This is Greg's favorite time of year. He LOVED fantasy football. Please keep his family in your thoughts & prayers... Rock on Greg....

BoltAddiction 0 Posted August 18, 2006 Was definitely dreading this posting. RIP Greg. May Heaven have its own draft board and you get 1st pick. My condolences to Greg's wife, his children and my best wishes to all of the members of Zolan's League. Honor Greg and make this your best fantasy football season ever - from everything dynastybaby has told me, that's what Greg would want. I raise my glass and salute the man who was and is. GBFAVRE4 0 Posted August 18, 2006 I am so very sorry to hear the news. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with his family. I hope you and your FF Family raise your league entry fee $50, continue to draft and play your season as you would if he were here, and donate all the winnings to the Zolan Family. Really helps put things in perspective when things like this happen, as you reflect upon friends and family within your own lives...... Thoughts and Prayers...... texasmouth 1 Posted August 18, 2006 Reading all of this really makes you put things into perspective. There are so many times when little things get us down and little things that we put so much emphasis on that are of such little importance. I never met Greg but I will be honest, hearing about him has really made a lasting impression on me.

JMaximus12 0 Posted August 18, 2006 I only joined about 2 weeks ago, but i remember the 1st thread i read actually was about Greg. It was a sobering thread to start with, but it really got me grounded in keeping things in perspective. I'll keep him in my thoughts. Here's wishing his family the best. May they live their lives to the best of their fullest, and remember him with love, honor, and respect. Greg, We here in the "Beer is Fun" FFL Salute you. PackYourNut 47 Posted August 18, 2006 Dont worry Greg is right now. No more cancer, no more chemo, no more pain. Although I'm sure he misses his friends and family tremendously, he is doing the Jesus right now. You'll see him again someday! Until then, I offer up some prayers to ease his family and your grief! thorshammer 0 Posted August 18, 2006 I am sorry to hear this. I also nominate that we change the name "touchdown Jesus" to the Greg Nolan forever on this board. Almost none of us knew him but it will help keep things in perspective around here. And keep his memory alive!
sow 0 Posted August 18, 2006 My dear friend Ken Jolliffe was the commish of our league and passed away three years ago two days after we drafted after a bout with cancer as well. He was so excited to be able to draft and was like his old self during the draft. It really brought the rest of us in the league much closer to eachother. Please accept my condolences and know that he is smiling and resting peacefully now.
Brady12MVP 0 Posted August 18, 2006 My condolences to you and his family. I saw your post a few weeks ago at work and did not get to respond but did say a prayer for your friend.
Parkers99 0 Posted August 18, 2006 It was a blessing. A few years ago, my Grandad had cancer & after fighting a good fight, he was sent home w/ hospice care. As bad as I felt for my Grandad, I was even more concerned about my Grandmother. I knew it would hurt her having to watch him in pain. The day they sent him home; me & the rest of the family were all there. We set up the bedroom, tv & stuff just the way he wanted & he was laughing and joking the whole time. We had about as much fun as a family can have in that situation. We we're all dreading the slow declince we were told he'd have. Never happened. The next day, he went to sleep & didn't wake up. The last person he saw was my Grandmother... and he smiled at her. Thank God he didn't suffer long. I'm thankful your friend didn't either. OK, now for a very happy thought...... I'll bet your buddy drafted Walter Payton as his RB#1 in Heaven FF! prayers for his family

Honor Greg and make this your best fantasy football season ever - from everything dynastybaby has told me, that's what Greg would want. I raise my glass and salute the man who was and is. I'll second this statement. I'd also like to say that we may give each other a hard time here, but it's all in fun....at least from my standpoint. These "real life" issues are what should keep us grounded. RIP Greg. And to his friends and family...believe that you will see your friend/father/husband in heaven one day. You will see him as you remembered him.
JT 137 Posted August 18, 2006 Heartfelt sympathy for your friend's family, you and all close to him. I know it's of little consolation, but anyone that had so many people that cared for him and called him friend truly reaped life's rewards.

Wildman 0 Posted August 18, 2006 My condolences to Greg's family, you, and your friends. What are you guys doing to comfort his family? I'm sure they could use all the kind deeds and love they can get over the next couple of years, at least. I did some hospice work several years ago (very rewarding) and one thing I learned is how people tend to forget about being there for the family after a 3-4 months pass. Little things go a long way. Maybe there's something your league can agree to do on a weekly basis throughout the season that would benefit/comfort Greg's family...just a thought... All the best... bollocks28 0 Posted August 18, 2006 My condolences. The one guy who dropped out of my main league did so only because he died of cancer too... pretty hardcore, stuck with his team 'til he died. Perhaps they are in the same league now. Our league is now named in his honour.
jocstrap 8 Posted August 18, 2006 Sorry about the news. I remember your last post saying he had two young children. Just horrible to think of such a young family losing their father/husband. mtnman32 0 Posted August 18, 2006 My condolences to you DB and his family and friends. Death is rarely an easy thing to deal with for us, the ones still here, especially in circumstances like these. It always helps to remember the good times and joy the dearly departed brought into our lives and to honor their memory. R.I.P. Greg.

sf21 0 Posted August 18, 2006 Thanks for the nice thoughts everyone. I have been in Greg Zolan's league for the past 8 years & known him for nearly 20 years. We have renamed the league, "Zolan's League" after him. A situation like this sure makes stressing over who to start as my #3 WR very trivial. With heavy hearts , Zolan's League will have our annual Live Draft tomorrow as Greg very clearly instructed us.... Thanks again to everyone for their kind thoughts.
