L. Marooney

Recommended Posts

Man does this guy hit the hole quick. Big time down hill runner. Shanny said this guy was the best runner in the draft... It sure looks like it. I like him a lot.

K. Faulk looks good as well. Dillons looks like he's 32. Oh wait, he is.

Dillon has plenty in the tank baby.... he's a bruiser and he showed it on that TD run... One more nice season for the BIG GUY... before Maroney take the reins in 2007 !

That will probably be the case but I just do not see Dillon staying healthy all year. Not 20 something anymore....

I could see a Robert Smith/Leroy Hoard type situation in NE.

Maroney could rack up 1000 yards, and Dillon gets to punch in 10+ TD's this year, along with 600-800 yards.

Like the Parker and Bettis sitiuation in Pitt last year.

Could see that as well. Maroney looks very thin. Very quick but very thin.

Deceptive size. Have had the chance to see him in person. I'm a big guy, and usually think players look smaller than advertised. He looks stouter close up. Watch him run; doesn't shy away from contact, and the first guy rarely brings him down.

Maroney is a special talent.

I agree but he looks like he could use a year in an NFL weightroom before he reaches his max potential.

I agree completely. Being able to see him here week in and out he is not nearly as small as he is being put out there as.

Also as I posted over the offseason several times two of the things this guy has that were not talked about much if at all during the draft coverage are his hands (which now are getting noticed) and his extra gear once he gets past the line (which will be discovered in time.)

it's nice to see him thrive with the contact

the guy's a top notch athlete.

but there's no question that he isn't physically developed like the veteran NFLers.

and to me, that's great. This kid can get even bigger and maybe faster.

 I saw him at camp last week and was really surprised at how soft and undefined he looked... he was standing next to guys that are considered "small" by nfl standards (T Brown, K Faulk) and those "small" guys were ripped compared to him.

... but then you see him take on the contact and roll off the hits and he makes you forget it all.

Alot of them because they are told for most of their lives how special they are and they never learn how to put in the type of work it takes to be one of the very few guys who has a financial and statistical rewarding NFL career.

Matt Cassel was a very nice find for Belichick and Pioli.

I hope we never have to use him for extended periods of time

just what everyone wanted a triple RBBC

unfortunately, RBBC's are great for REAL football.

This may seem like a strange question, but when you say "drooling at the mouth," does it really need to be that specific? Do you drool from any other orfices?

I don't think there's a single smiley that describes my reaction this comment, but I'll try to express it with a combination of smilies.

Dont jinx him with the Shanny talk...the Rat thought very highly of Barlow

In fairness to Barlow as crappy as he may be, he probably has at least a bit more success running in Denver or New England as opposed to the deadmarch Niners the last two seasons.

yeah, I'm gonna' guess you haven't seen Maroney in person.

that's nice that his nfl.com page lists that and all... but the point being made is that his calves, forearms don't look all that ripped. He looks like a lanky teenager; very underdeveloped at this point.

it's not really meant as a knock on Maroney, just an observation. Obviously this isn't hurting him any, he looks fantastic running both inside and outside. There's no doubt he' strong and fast. HE just isn't ripped like most NFLers.

And I really don't know if that's normal for rookies. :pointstosky:

That's ok... I'm sure they make x-small rubbers for guys like you...

No its not. That's normal for an NFL RB. 5'7", 185 is tiny, see Darren Sproles, SD Chargers.
