Rep. Foley R-FL resigns

Recommended Posts

I don't know if I'm more disturbed that the sicko was a part of that or that there is such a thing as a Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus to begin with. Exactly how big is our guberment?

in congress there are caucuses for everything....they are more of a spare time thing for most members (depending on the caucus)....it isnt like they spend more money to have them or anything...

this is a very sick subject....they should put his ass in prison!! he has been in the closet for a number of years and he has been hitting on pages for a number of years as well....(it is a fact)

Typical politician. He gets caught w/his hand in the cookie jar (or, in this case, a boy's pants) and it's all "BOO HOO...woe is me...I have a substance abuse problem and am entering rehab."

What a focking joke this country has become. Do something reprehensible? Just admit to being addicted to something, go into rehab and this country's sick obsession w/forgiving the unforgivable kicks in.

Countdown until the Repubelicans ban liquor and beer because it leads to immoral behavior.......

If that were the case the Republicans would have proposed this every time a Kennedy got elected/re-elected.

Why? They would have been happy it happend to the other party. Instead it's their own guy who's a child molestor and now an alcoholic, and they've sadly known about it for years but covered it up.

And the same exact things can be said about Dems protecting their own when it comes to doing reprehensible stuff and them blaming a substance abuse problem.

You can try to blame one party or the other all you want...that fact of the matter is that both of them suck. That's why my comments (before I responded to you) were about politicians, not Dems or Reps.

Frankly, I find it oh so pathetic that you are incapable of having an intelligent discussion w/out resorting to your usual "blame the world's evils on the reps" schtick.

I mean, you DO realize that at some point it's going to be your prescious Dems who are going to be under the microscope for the same type of crap, right?

This guy, and the people that knew about his misdeeds and did nothing, deserve some forehead tatoo action. :wall:

You can cry the same old mantra, but seriously, when do the Repubes start banning liqour and beer because it causes their immoral behavior? How about answering the question.

Indeed, truly a classic line

Yeah right...now that AGAIN, its the GOP that has been caught beng as shady as it gets, covering up a sexual predator, promoting him to committee chair and whip, and ignoring SEVERAL incidents, just to protect a safe seat in the house...its the politicians.

I'll remember that next time you bring up something you don't like.

The Molestor...his own fault. The hiding of it, lockstep and subjecting more children to him...that's an all GOP style.

You know, if I wanted to get all partisan, I could point to good ol' Bill Clinton and his pardon-purge of 2001.

You remember? That was when he commuted the sentence of former Illinois congressman Mel Reynolds, who was serving time for a number of crimes, including having sex w/a 16 year old campaign volunteer.

Or we can try to find out who Joe Scarborough is referring to in this article:

Finally, my friendly advice to Democrats is to keep your mouth shut lest you be tagged as hypocrites. After all, you did next to nothing when one of your colleagues had a homosexual affair with a 17 year old intern--having sex with him in his Georgetown apartment and then taking him to Portugal the next summer to carry on his illicit affair.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15106507/from/RS.3/

Like I said, this is the exact same kind of crap that politicians, Dems and Reps alike, are guilty of, whether we are discussing the crime itself, a cover-up of the crime or (as in these cases) allowing a predator to roam free to terrorize more children.

The abuse of children, sexual or otherwise, is one of the most disgusting types of crimes that a person can committ. I have no patience or respect for those who committ such crimes.

I also have no patience or respect for those who seek to publicize such crimes for political gain.

He served 4 years, then the rest, about 2-1/2 in a half way house. Seeing as how Bush will be gone in 2 years I guess Foley will only serve the 2 before he is commuted by Bush. :headbanger:

Do you know which one of your prescious Dems Joe was referring to?

You can try to make this a Repblican problem all you want, but the more publicity this story gets, the more skeletons that will come flying out of the closets of Dems and Reps alike.

Ahhh...don't worry about actually addressing any of the points that I have made.

I understand. You just want to protect the child molesters in your party.

I didn't realize you made any points worth discussing. Sure this happens to both parties, but let's discuss the present and not something that was discussed ad nauseum and happened more than a decade ago.

I understand. You just want to deflect the present and live in the past. :o

Also again, I haven't made it a Republican problem, Foley did.

WOW...you actually admitted that this is something that happens w/both parties. :o

You want to talk about the present? OK, let's talk about how many other members of Congress who are currently serving and have either gotten away w/such things in the past or are currently getting away w/such things now?

When people like you take a story like this and politicize it you fall right into the hands of the clowns on cable news and, more to the point, the scumbags in Congress. Keep harping on and on about how this is a "Republican problem." That should really fix the problem.

Keep it up. That way all these politicians will see that the only reason that they shouldn't committ such crimes is for fear of losing their cushy gig in Congress...as opposed to not doing this stuff because it is wrong.

That's a wonderful message that you are sending. It should really go a long way to reforming things. :o

Sadly, that seems to be why all the Repubes tried to cover this one up, not because they thought it was wrong, but because they didn't want to lose their cushy seat.

Bad, bad Republicans.

I guess that explains this bit about the mystery Dem who the author is referring to.

Why aren't you clamoring for the heads of the Dem leadership who are hiding this molester in their midst?

I like it when the Repubelicans say "we might be child molesters, and we might be homo's and we also might be alcholics all rolled into one, but so is everyone else so we ain't all that bad, are we?"

WOW...you actually admitted that this is something that happens w/both parties.

Wtf are you talking about? I have no doubt that the act of pedophilia happens regardless of political party. It's that this is the same azzclown that called Clinton morally repugnant, spoke often of family values, and got put into positions to influence sexual predator policy...while the powers that be KNEW it.

You want to talk about the present? OK, let's talk about how many other members of Congress who are currently serving and have either gotten away w/such things in the past or are currently getting away w/such things now?

Do you have any? The only ones I know about are either GOP or no longer in office. Try to stay on task. You party has been harbouring a pedophile to protect their congressional majority. Not that I'm surprised that it doesn't bother you and that you want to minimalize it. The President does too.

When people like you take a story like this and politicize it you fall right into the hands of the clowns on cable news and, more to the point, the scumbags in Congress. Keep harping on and on about how this is a "Republican problem." That should really fix the problem.

Actually it will, the faster these dirtbags elected on the GOP platform are gone, the faster the problem is solved. Although I imagine a bunch of new problems.

Keep it up. That way all these politicians will see that the only reason that they shouldn't committ such crimes is for fear of losing their cushy gig in Congress...as opposed to not doing this stuff because it is wrong.

Isn't that the GOP message now, "you can do wrong things, molest boys, cheat, steal, fix election districts, hook up you buddies, etc." as long as we can cover it up and retain the majority".

But lets all give you a hand for trying to pretend this isn't about example 287 of THE CURRENT GOP corruption. Maybe you should bring up Kennedy about now. Things from 50 years ago should fit in nicely.

btw: Scarbough is a complete tool. He lies so often its painful. But I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest he's referring to Barney Frank. and Barney's response will be, "Tell us something we don't know".

This could have been about a dirtbag who used his power to get boys, the GOP chose to cover it up and then tried to lie initially to protect a seat in November. THEY politicized it.

Don't worry though, I'm sure people like you will muddle the issue, blame everyone but those that committed it and whine that Republicans are being persecuted. Nice family values...

btw: Clinton pardoned about the same amount as any other president, but he denied more pardons than any other president ever. You must have meant Bush jr's random pardoning...

Why aren't you clamoring for the heads of the Dem leadership who are hiding this molester in their midst?

See, this is where people like you get all stupid. 1. Its Scarbough, perhaps if Drudge or the National Enquirer said it, it'd have more validity. 2. Does the Dem leadership "know" like the GOP did? I doubt it. 3. You can be certain if their was even the slightest chance this was either true or proven, the GOP News would have it plastered on every nine seconds and There'd be a "Rush L. and Hannity Special Report".

4. I'm certain he is referring to Barney Frank in the late 70's or early 80's. and the Dem's DID bring him up on ethics charges. Then he was re-elected...
