GiantsRule 0 Posted October 4, 2006 And once again, live betting bails my ass out. Still a loser for the night, but coupled with my gains from yesterday, it's a minimal loss over the past two days. I can tell you this: This is THE last time I ever fade Ditka unintentionally (like last night) or otherwise. Never should have put the bet in last night w/o seeing what the boys were doing. As such, I'll just have to wait patiently for Ditka's pick for the Marshall game tomorrow.

brzrboy 0 Posted October 4, 2006 I missed everything after the 1st Q, sounds like I didn't miss much except a penalty show. But, thanks again PB for the writeup. Looks like you are off to another solid season. If I read your stats right, all your profit is from your multi unit games? Does that mean you are dead even on your one unit plays? Interesting. Last year it seemed like the opposite for you, your single game picks were way ahead, and your multi unit picks were slightly above .500? And congrats to anyone with a Yankees/Tigers over tonight. I honestly don't know how anyone could bet an under against this Yankees lineup. If ANY pitching staff can hold them to 4 runs or less, I would consider it a small miracle. They get Sheffield and Matsui back just in time for the playoffs. Seriously, an all star game lineup......Damon, Jeter, Abreu, Sheffield, Giambi, Arod, Matsui, Posada, Cano. Yes the 9th batter in that lineup was 3rd in the AL in hitting this year. Probably 4-5 Hall of Famers in that lineup.
GiantsRule 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Giants where do you find mid game lines??\I'm very interested. Olympic Sportsbook. (http://www.thegreek.com) In-game live betting usually offered on nights where there is just one game (easier for the linesmakers to manage). This includes mid-week NCAA football games, SNF, and MNF. Lines are usually posted during the action for the first 6-8 minutes of the 1st quarter. Updated lines based on where the game is headed is posted in between downs, during timeouts, injuries, etc. I think the only time they pull a line during a lull is when a team is in the red zone or during a challenge replay (but I could be wrong). They also have great prop bets for the entire slate of Sunday games as well as college games. So if you're unlike me, and you actually know the players whose teams you're betting on, you could clean up (tonight, for instance, the RB for So. Miss was set at Over 98.5 rushing yards; he almost had it in the first half!) And if you're a parlay guy, they allow you to buy points on sides and totals in a parlay! If you sign up, please use the referral ID: 47829. I could really use it after tonight. More importantly, they hook you up with a sweet bonus too. And with the way we all bet, you'll clear it in no time! This referral is good for any of you guys, by the way! Any questions, feel free to email me at BTC316@hotmail.com. I've already hooked up a lot of people with this site and everybody loves it. Plus, they still take most MasterCards for deposit!

phillybear 366 Posted October 4, 2006 Overall College YTD: 96-76-4; +38.92 units Subset: 2 unit plays or higher: 40-24-1; +38.92 units Wednesday Marshall (-3,-3.5) for 2 units. LOSER!! Marshall is receiving about 61% of the action. This line has bounced between pick’em early, to Marshall -3.5, and now has settled in on the key number of 3. I don’t think it will move much now. Marshall is 6-1 SU vs teams with a winning record in last 7 Marshall is 20-5 SU in last 25 home games. Central Florida is 5-15-1 ATS in last 21 road games. Central Florida is averaging 285 yards per game, allowing 416. Central Florida averages 3.0 yards per rush vs teams that allow 3.0 ypr Central Florida completes 52.7% of passes vs teams that allow 58.7% Central Florida averages 4.3 yards per play vs teams that allow 4.6 Central Florida allows 3.5 ypr vs team that gain 4.2 ypr Central Florida allows 63.2% completions vs teams that complete 62.4% Central Florida allows 6.2 yards per play vs teams gain 6.0 Marshall is averaging 305 yards per game, allowing 387 per game. Marshall averages 4.5 yards per rush vs teams that allow 4.7 ypr Marshall completes 62.9% of passes vs teams that allow 60.5% Marshall averages 5.1 yards per play vs teams that allow 5.3 Marshall allows 4.8 ypr vs team that gain 4.2 ypr Marshall allows 58.3% completions vs teams that complete 56.8% Marshall allows 6.2 yards per play vs teams gain 5.6 Not crazy about this game, but the relatively strong home field of Marshall vs the road woes of Central Florida finally pushed me into a play. Although Marshall lost three home games last year, in a rebuilding year, they only lost those games by a combined 10 points, including two games that they were sizable underdogs in and covered the spread, including a weekday game vs Southern Mississippi by 3 pts. Marshall returned 9 starters from last year’s struggling offense, and figured to be improved, but their early season schedule has been so tough, it’s hard to gauge their progress. They stats across the board offensively and defensively are average, but that actually is a positive sign considering their competition. Marshall lost at West Virginia 42-10, but only got outgained 485 to 322. Not terrible. They blew out Hofstra, then went to Kansas St. They got shut down by the very good Kansas St defense, but lost 23-7 in a somewhat deceiving score as Kansas St blocked a punt for a TD and scored a TD on a broken play with about 4 minutes to go to provide the final margin. Next, the lost to Tennessee 33-7, in a game that was 16-7 going into the 4th quarter, where Tenn outscored Marshall 17-0, including a front door covering TD with 23 seconds to go. Marshall is hanging around in games vs far better teams, and finally are stepping down in class to play a beatable opponent. I think RB Bradshaw will finally get a chance to run in this game, and if Marshall gets anything out of the QB position tonight, they will be in good shape. Their defense has been above average for a couple of years, and still is. What is going through the minds of Central Florida? They were playing in the Conference USA championship game last year, and are now 1-3 this year, back to their annual losing ways. Was year a fluke, where they had a lot of things go right? They put emphasis on last week’s game, outplayed So Miss, and lost at home. They have to be dispirited. Despite holding So Miss to 273 yards last week, as we saw in last nights game, it seems like So Miss is simply a bad offense, so the Central Florida defense is still very suspect, giving up 322 to Villanova, 637 to Florida, 433 to South Florida. Central Florida has put up close to 300 yards per game, but that is far eclipsed by the defensive problems, giving up 400+. Still, the QB is a real issue, as the starter, Moffet, is on the verge of getting replaced on every snap. He has really regressed this year, and is missing his big play WR from last year, gone due to graduation. His current WRs aren’t doing him any favors. While Marshall has been competitive with the excellent teams on their schedule, Central Florida got demolished by Florida, and were firmly outplayed at home by South Florida. This is the first game for Central Florida outside the state of Florida this year, a true road game. Last year, Marshall lost at Central Florida 23-13, and Marshall was favored by 3. Marshall outgained Central Florida, passed for 368 yards, but still managed to lose. Taking a shot with the home team in a revenge spot. Lay the small lumber. Hurricane Ditka 0 Posted October 4, 2006 No play tonight for me. Marshall isn't good enough to be a favorite even at home. Central Florida has some talent but lacks intelligence. One of these teams may have already quit on the season. No play.

StrikeGold 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Just wanted to point out that the under is 3-0 in Central Florida games this year, and 2-1 in Marshall games. Maybe the over is due, but I'm leaning toward taking the under trend here.
TampaJim 0 Posted October 4, 2006 UCF +3.5 for 2 units Let me first point out that I feel Ucf is flat out the better team. They should have beaten Southern Miss if not for the Kevin Smith fumble at the S.miss 1 yard line in the 3rd quarter. What makes Ucf the play here is the fact they have one of the better coaches in American in George O'Leary. You remember him right, Notre Dame hire and fire George O'Leary. Bottom line is this guy has assembled a nice squad in Central Florida and it starts with his offensive line. Everyone is back and that is why they have so much success running the football. You add the fact that Marshall has given up 582 yards on the ground including 10 touchdowns and you can see the success that Marshall is going to have. Let me also point out that Ucf has playmakers at wide receiver for QB Steven Moffett. With both teams 1-3 SU, any chance of any bowl comes down to a big win here. Considering Marshall has yet to cover a game this year, 0-3 ATS, I am all over Ucf here. They have lost to Florida, South Florida and S.Miss. In my opinion, had a couple of breaks had gone their way, they should be 3-1 and if that were the case, they would be a 3 point favorite tonight and not a 3 1/2 point dog. I hate to bet opposite of Philly here, but I'm a Florida boy...and I have to throw my homer 2 cents in there...
iceblumist610 0 Posted October 4, 2006 I hate being opposite Philly, but I guess I'll just pull for a 3 point game so I win and you push. I like the way UCF's run defense has played this season, and Marshall really didn't get any legitimate points against Tennessee or K-state. I am a little worried about the home/road dichotomies for both teams, but I think UCF is a slightly better team here, and O'Leary is quite the good coach. UCF +3.5 I'm 11-4 since my girlfriend broke up with me (11-12-1 before that) and hoping to keep it going.

Central Florida is 5-15-1 ATS on the road over their past 21 road games. Marshall at home is generally a much tougher team. It is actually a fairly tough place to play. Hurricane Ditka 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Guys, you think there's going to be a lot of scoring in this one? Anxious to take the over, but the mid-week games have been ugly. All defense and bad play. Both teams lack the ability to put together consistant drives so you could look at that and play the under. But both teams will most likely will have turnovers leading to points which would make this an over play. Pick your poison. I am not touching it. Also, I think the last I saw the action was like 54% on one of teams which means this game is like a coin toss.
phillybear 366 Posted October 4, 2006 Interesting tidbit on tonight's game... "It will not only be the normal sporting media associated with a college football game. With Matthew McConaughey and McG in town to promote the upcoming "We Are Marshall" movie from Warner Bros., in which McConaughey stars at Young Thundering Herd coach Jack Lengyel and McG has directed, the Marshall stadium will have the likes of the syndicated nightly show Entertainment Tonight, E! Entertainment Channel, Entertainment Weekly magazine and other outlets who normally cover the Hollywood scene. "I think its going to be great," said Head Coach Mark Snyder of Marshall. "We will be the only game on the country...it's what we are all about here."" "Our kids are focused and we are hoping for a big, big crowd Wednesday night," said Snyder. Marshall is promoting "Keep It Green" for the UCF game and asking all fans to wear green jerseys, shirts and jackets to the game. MU will distribute 10,000 McConaughey trading card to fans coming into the game, as well as give out 5,000 "We Are Marshall" t-shirts to the first 5,000 fans in the gate. "This is going to be new for all of us, how crazy this game is going to be," said Snyder of what is expected to be a huge crowd for the game and the large media pool covering the contest and "We Are Marshall" movie promotions. "Our administration has done a great job to make sure it is very non-distracting for us (off the field). We have had a tremendous week so far." I think this movie is about the plane crash that killed the Marshall football team back in 1970. Huge emotional game. I am debating making Marshall a bigger play now. I hate that the line is up to -3.5.
