RedzoneMonster 102 Posted November 4, 2006 I just recently traded him away in my leauge and got Holt and MJ Drew in return. I am VERY happy and here is why: Wasn't his injury only supposed to be for 2-4 weeks? Well here we are 6 weeks later and he's not supposed to start until wk 10 (7 weeks after the injury..). Who is to say we won't hear on Sunday "Alexander still not cleared by the docs and now expected back in wk 11". At that point his value will be shot. Even if he does come back in wk 10, who honestly thinks he will be even close to as productive as he was last year?? I am not one of them. You mean to tell me a guy who hasn't been on the field in 7 weeks is going to come back and light it up? Finally, here is one thing that I have not heard anyone talk about and is maybe the most glaring piece of evidence that makes me believe SA will not do well when he returns. Take a look at the rushing stats from both SA and Morris this year. There has not been ONE good game b/t them. I think it is fairly obvious that the SEA O-Line is not anywhere near as good as before and also SEA is clearly more focused on the passing game this year. (And I don't want to hear anyone say " But SA was hurt in those first three games", or "Morris is no Shaun Alexander". For Gods sake, if thier O-line was even close to as good as last year then even I could run for at leat ONE 100yd game in 7 tries!!!) Alexander: 19 carries, 51 yds, 1 td 26 carries, 89 yds, 1 td 20 carries, 47 yds, 0 td Morris: 11 carries, 35 yds, 0td 23 carries, 74 yds, 0td 17 carries, 49 yds, 0td 12 carries, 25 yds, 0td Take my advice and get something good in return for him NOW while you still can. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.... RedZone

RedzoneMonster 102 Posted November 4, 2006 89 yards and a TD on a broken foot sounds pretty good to me. yeh, but it took 26 attempts. I'm just saying to look at the #'s overall. It is clear they are not good. If the O-Line was even decent then Morris should have had at least ONE good game by now. Think about it...

For God's sake, didn't i say "I don't want to hear anyone say " But SA was hurt in those first three games", or "Morris is no Shaun Alexander"." SA Owners - It's time to get real and realize he isn't going to save your season. Trade him for a player that will. Trade him to an owner who still believes in him and get a stud WR or another good RB. WORST case scenario is SA miraculously returns in wk 10 and plays well, but it doesn't really matter to you b/c you still got a good player in return. Why take the risk and keep him if you could get a sure thing?...
DandyRandy 0 Posted November 4, 2006 Redzonemonster is right on the money.2 weeks ago i traded Shaun and Randy Moss for Clinton Portis and A.Boldin.Any knuckle head that still has S.Alexander better do something before they announce on monday his out again.Even if he comes back how much is he gonna give you.Way to go redzone with Tory Holt.Your not gonna get that value again. Some of us had the smarts to get good value. kpmurphy 0 Posted November 5, 2006 I have to agree with him, I traded SA for Andre Johnson and Cadillac Williams. Not the same as getting Holt but better than clinging to him if you ask me.
PaytonsGhost 0 Posted November 5, 2006 I think its safe to say that most SA owners have been closely following his health situation, nonetheless IMO there are 3 types of SA owners, 1) Ones that traded him away for some decent value because they didn't want to wait for his return 2) Ones that are anticipating his return because they are in a situation where they can afford it 3) Ones that have been low balled at every Trade offer from their respective leagues and have decided to ride it out. I think this summarizes most of SA owners I fall into category 2 and 3. I didn't trade him away because i was given bad offers and im in contention for a playoff spot, His injury has taken longer than anticipated but my best option was to stay put Heres a link regarding soccer players who have had the same broken bone. kpmurphy 0 Posted November 5, 2006 I will call myself 1B. Those of us who were still doing well without him but decided to improve at other spots instead of waiting.

Frankly, I don't think he will play well the remainder of the season, if he is able to play at all. Glad he's not my problem! LJ rules.

father murphy 0 Posted November 5, 2006 I traded Mcgahee for Alexander straight up two weeks ago. The SA owner was in dire need of any kind of RB production and Mcgahee is that, if nothing else. My team's mediocre but if SA does come back by next week and produce at least at the level of a Mcgahee I'll be satisifed. If he does better than that, it's a bonus. nygiants 0 Posted November 5, 2006 I said the same thing about SA but I'm starting to change my tune and think he is a good buy....especially for teams that have good records and are in or close to being in the playoffs. Do I think he will do well in the next couple of weeks? Probably not. However, Seattle has a great schedule for the playoffs. SA during the playoff weeks will do very well. I agree there isn't much difference between Morris and Alexander. HOWEVER, the coaches thing there is and that is the key. On the 5 yard right now....they pass. With SA in, they run it every time. It's all about opportunity and they will give SA much more opportunities than they give Morris at this time. We'll see how this plays out but I'm one of the teams that are in the playoffs already and I'm trying to get SA for a decent price.
Peens 0 Posted November 5, 2006 Would you be so quick to trade SA for a "song" in a dynasty league?
GridironGuzzlers 3 Posted November 5, 2006 I just traded M.Bell & T.Bell for SA. I already have Rudi & FTaylor. Prove to me I did wrong
tmf 0 Posted November 5, 2006 I just traded him for steven jackson. I also had Morris who I dont believe to be as bad as the o-line. Kid who traded with me is lookin longterm for next years keeper. You're right, i dont like how long its taking to heal-probably more trouble than you want if youre still competing in youre league. Get rid of him!!!!!!! OD99 0 Posted November 5, 2006 The flip side of this is if you are an owner competing and you have extra players is he worth going after? The guy in my league with him is short on WR - I happen to have Fitz, Smith, Roy Williams and Chambers - I can only start two and my starting RB's are Caddy and Tiki. I am thinking I could trade Caddy, Chambers, Roy for SA, Evans, Stallworth Wouldn't be that big of hit on the WR side, especially if Stallworth can stay healthy BUT my only other RB's are Fargas and Davenpoop. I hope they give SA the clear on Monday... I know this ins't the help board but this topic actually got me thinking of going after him since everyone wants to dump him. With my depth at WR but lack of it at RB is it worth the gamble?
omarkal 0 Posted November 5, 2006 Well i almost commited suicide for my team 3 weeks ago when i offered Dunn, Addai, Carr and Wiggins(his te was injured) for SA. The guy turned me down. Now he will be lucky if i just offered him Dunn for SA straight up. I think SA is out till Matt H returns. No point in further damaging the injury, when opposing teams will put 8 in the box vs the run.
Thornton Melon 546 Posted November 5, 2006 Two weeks ago, I was offered Westbrook and Chad Johnson for SA and Driver, and I turned him down. At the time, Westy's knee scared me more than SA's foot. This week, sitting at 2-6 and 1 loss away from elimination, I traded SA for TO. I couple guys in my league laughed at me, but I think I did alright. Time will tell.... dpcoke 0 Posted November 5, 2006 I am a Alexander owner and made mention that I heard this injury was worse than first thought and he might be out for awhile and people ripped me apart for just stating what I heard.Well to all of you that gave me crap that "the injury report says 2 weeks" you can now kiss my ass
RedzoneMonster 102 Posted November 6, 2006 I told you so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From CbsSportsline: According to FOX Sports, Seattle RB Shaun Alexander is not close to returning. Two weeks ago Shaun Alexander said that as long as this past Monday's x-rays showed the crack in his foot had healed he would start Monday night. His head coach Mike Holmgren was even more optimistic, pretty sure that the pics would show that he was healthy and ready to roll. But according to sources, Monday's tests showed that Alexander's crack had not only not healed, it wasn't even healing the way the team had expected it to. Alexander's pictures showed that it was not healing that way and was only 70 percent healed at that time. In addition, Alexander sent the medical pictures down to a foot specialist in Dr. James Andrews office in Birmingham for a second look. After the look, however, both the specialist and the Seahawks told Alexander it will be all right if he begins running in a straight line this week. They had not, as of Sunday morning, cleared him to begin cutting on that foot. He is slated to take another x-ray either Monday or Tuesday to see if the foot had healed more and if he could return to practice. The team has no idea when exactly he'll be fully cleared to practice. It could be Monday or Tuesday, could be a week, could be two weeks, could be more. Whenever the pictures show the crack has completely healed, he'll be able to return.
DamageIncVacc 6 Posted November 6, 2006 I think it was that dude Jay Glazer who said on fox today the same thing the CBS report said.(Maybe CBS got it from him) He said Alexander was about 70% and it was not healing the right way or something like that and it would be a few more weeks. Not sure what he meant by a few more weeks. If you are on the buble trade him. If your making the playoffs then hold him as he may be back for the playoffs and could be a great back to have. zoolndr74 0 Posted November 6, 2006 However, Seattle has a great schedule for the playoffs. SA during the playoff weeks will do very well. I have the highest point total so far and am sitting in first place in my league, so I am holding onto Alexander for this very reason. I don't want to be killed by Alexander in the playoffs.
