brzrboy 0 Posted November 14, 2006 Ball St. is horrible running the ball at 82 p/g Ball St. is horrible on defense giving up 180 rushing and 276 passing p/g Since 1992, Toledo is 16-3 ATS as a 3.5 to 10 pt favorite Since 1992, Toledo is 5-0 ATS as a 3.5 to 7 pt home favorite Neither team has held an opponent to less than 17 pts. Leans toward Toledo and the over. Yep, that's the extent of my analysis. So, can some real handicappers provide a direction for us sheep?

I will probably stay away this time. The Rockets have not been good against the spread this year. They are not a very good team, actually. The reason the line is where it is is because the oddsmakers know people will lay money on Toledo at home. In the past they have been very good at home. This year, they are a crapshoot. You never know what team will show up. That being said, they have been playing well as of late, with wins against NIU and Akron. Another possible factor in this game is that Ball State is coming off of a close loss to Michigan. That could affect them in one of two ways. 1) They could come out of that game with a great degree of confidence after hanging with the #2 team in the nation, or 2) They could be very down after losing their chance at the big upset. Also, BSU is coming in with couple extra days rest because Toledo played last Tuesday.
GiantsRule 0 Posted November 14, 2006 I was thinking the Ball State ML (+175), but that's more chasing mentality than actual rhyme or reason.

I would vote for the former, their offense HAS to be feeling good about themselves. So for this game, if both offenses are good and both defenses are bad, about the only thing keeping this game under 54 is the weather. Seems like over is the play here. ATS, who knows. Philly will hopefully post a writeup this afternoon.

Philly will hopefully post a writeup this afternoon. I am with you on the Over. Bad defenses and a couple of offenses that should be effective tonight, although the mid-week Over play hasn't exactly been $ in the bank this year. Coincidentally, the weather will be fine for the game. I am an hour North of Toledo and have family there and it is supposed to be 40 and cloudy.

American Chewy 98 Posted November 14, 2006 S. Carolina -14@-121 this was the first game i jumped on yesterday, i had to buy it down obviously, but if you can get it at 14 i'd advise doing so. The cocks will jump all over middle tenn at home. This has all the makings of the navy-e. mich game result from last week, this line is definitely off and its moving up. P.S. i'm probably passing tonight. tired of the mid-week games, i know i'm losing on them this season.
Yer mom 2 Posted November 14, 2006 Afternoon Gentlemen, Here to share my plays, I cant see why this game would go under but I know mid-week games havent been kind to the over.... Balls State TEAM TOTAL OVER 25.5 Toledo TEAM TOTAL OVER 29.5 This way if one gets there and the other doesnt, I get a push. Im OK with that. Im hoping for both to get there though... Good Luck!! I'm on it: Balls (heh) State team Over 24.5 (+105) - BetUS Toledo team Over 29.5 (-115) ML dropped on Ball State. Hopefully, that's a good sign. I'm on Balls ML +160 for a decent amount. Will probably chicken out and hedge if they manage to score first. Good luck to all!
phillybear 366 Posted November 14, 2006 Overall College Football YTD: 219-188-4; +46.07 units Subset: 2 unit plays or higher: 106-78; +61.62 units CFL: 23-13; +20.95 units NBA: 24-20-1; +4.25 units NCAA baskets: 19-28-1; -13.4 units NFL (Reset, last 4 weeks): 29-26-1; +1.15 units For what it is worth, we started a basketball thread on the Geek Board several days ago, out of respect to keeping this thread as football. Tuesday UNDER 56 Tol/Ball St for 1 unit WINNER The value is on the under tonight, as Toledo is one of the top defenses in the MAC and is starting a rookie QB who is incapable to taking advantage of Ball St's horrific pass defense. I think Toledo will try to run all game long, and slow down Ball St's offense with their defense. Should be a competitive game between two awful teams, but the total looks a bit too high. Good luck to all.
iceblumist610 0 Posted November 14, 2006 Chewy, what similarities do you see between USC/MTSU and Navy/EMU. Navy has a great run game. USC does not. EMU has a crappy run defense. MTSU does not. MTSU is lightyears better than EMU (remember, EMU got crushed by a mid-level SBC team) USC is in a sandwich game between what are quite possibly the two biggest games of their season (Florida and Clemson). It's MTSU or nothing for me, probably nothing.

It's MTSU or nothing for me, probably nothing. well as far as comparison i meant in how the line appears off at 14 like that navy game did, not the specific matchups. basically when MTSU plays solid program (which they are playing on saturday) they get soundly beaten scoring 17,10,0 points in those three games, and letting up 44 (Lville),24(maryland),59(okla.)--all on the road/neutral too--, and they are going into an angry bunch of gamecocks who shouldve beat florida last weekend, if it wasnt for the kicker. S. Car still needs a win for bowl elig. (5-5...they gotta be the best .500 team in col. football) with a game at clem. looming. S. Car has a solid def, giving up only an avg of 17 pts/game (good for #23 in the country) in the tough SEC. Mid-Tenn has mostly fattened up on terrible sunbet teams yet despite that is 96th in total offense. I see this game in the 31-10 range at least.

Yer mom 2 Posted November 15, 2006 2nd half: Toledo -3 28 This game has 28-28 written all over it. Everytime Toledo scores Ball State answers in less than 3 minutes, which poses the question..why cant you do that every fockin possession? Whatever. I didn't take any action in college football tonight but I do have: Mavs/Bulls over 191 Clips/Jazz under 198.5 Raptors/Warriors under 212 Tex Tech -12 Gonzaga -13 Indiana -3 I took Gonzaga in the first half at -7.5 and I think they'll cover the overall line as well. I had SMU +12 which looks like they'll cover and might actually win the game. UNC really didn't have a great first outing and I took them overall and in the first half. I was actually going to take Butler, but decided to stay away from the game completely. Good luck.
Hurricane Ditka 0 Posted November 15, 2006 Going with a different strategy this week to try and break my one week FUNK! Here are my plays this week. Since I am going to the Apple Cup (Wash/WashSt) I will not be around Friday or Saturday. Only 5 plays hoping to get back on track! YTD 122-71-9 (59.65 units) 4 units per Northern Illinois +3.5 Ohio State -6.5 Washington +9 Kansas State +2 USC -5.5 1. Northern Illinois is getting points at home where they are normally pretty good. Wolfe is probable and I expect him to post some decent stats. 2. I am just totally picking a side here in the biggest college game since USC/Texas last year. Ohio State is at home, has played and beaten Texas and I still have a bad taste in my mouth from Michigan/Ball State. I think the Buckeyes can post a double digit win. 3. This will be my third Apple Cup. From what I see records and trends mean nothing as does home field advantage. The crowd will be 50/50 with fans from each. WASU has been tough at home but I will take the 9 in a rivalry game. 4. K-State totally impressed me last week beating Texas and they have a respectable record this year. Another in state rivalry, I just think the wrong team is the favorite here. 5. If USC is going to make a case for getting back into the national title game this is the game they need to start with (before getting to Notre Dame). Cal losing to Arizona was a disaster and not the way they would want to play heading to USC.
Grind 0 Posted November 15, 2006 Three plays I am looking at early: CMU -3.5 Michigan +7 Michigan/OSU under 41 Thinking about a Michigan ML/Under 41 parlay for 5x's my bet and hope for no overtime.
needmoremoney 0 Posted November 15, 2006 Last week sucked.. let's try to do better this week. Ohio -5 2 units Navy -31.5 2 units Tulane -1.5 2 units Rice +2.5 2 units I'll take Rice at home. Better team IMO. Wyoming -10 2 units Illinois -2.5 2 units This team is better than record indicates. Tough schedule. Nevada -20 2 units South Florida +17 1 unit UL Lafeyette -5.5 2 units Will Florida Int'l even score more than 1 TD if even 1? Vanderbilt +8 1 unit Kansas ML 1 unit Following Ditka here... Oregon St. -14 1 unit Stanfurd sucks... Maryland +7.5 1 unit I see a close game.... Connecticut +1.5 2 units I'll take the better running team in this game.. Oklahoma St +6 1 unit Texas Tech has not been too impressive against strong run teams. Tulsa -6 1 unit Time for them to turn things around... hopefully. NCAAF YTD: 138-101-2 +51.98 units
beefy1 0 Posted November 15, 2006 Well Toledo played like crap. They had fourth and two and the tight end drops the easiest pass ever. They could have kicked the field goal and gone to OT but then again their kicker probably would have missed it, just like the 25 yarder late in the first half. Oh well, onto tonights game. What does everyone think?

I gave up when I saw the near 70-point 2nd quarter. Thanks to a ridiculously low 3rd quarter, those that grabbed Under 214 (I had 214.5) covered by 5 points. Wow! Also hit the Ball State ML last night to cut into the massacre that was Monday night for me (went a little overboard with in-game live bets...all in TB's favor). Def. not trying the ML tonight with Miami-OH, but Bowling Green hasn't covered a spread at home yet. Since it is a MAC contest, I may look into the BG team Over, but it's going to have to be 28 points or less to even consider it.

dmaidlow73 0 Posted November 15, 2006 Thanks for the heads up. I'll do my best to pass on this game (unless someone knows the players enough to suggest a decent prop (passer completions, rushing yards, etc.) I haven't seen any prop on it yet, but if one comes out on rushing yards for Anthony Turner (BG QB) I would lean towards the over. There are a couple of reasons why. 1) Miami's D is very banged up (their top 2 tacklers (LBs) are out). 2) Turner just ran for over 100 yards last week. He is finally healthy from a shoulder injury that he suffered in the beginning of the year. 3) Weather has potential to be nasty, thus limiting the passing games. Just my 2 cents. I will also likely take the Under (48), mainly due to the fact that the ball will be run quite a bit.
