Larry David 20 Posted January 16, 2007 Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com believes there's "a distinct possibility" that Willis McGahee will be traded this offseason. Brown, who naturally is very close to the team, doesn't believe Bills management will be open to giving McGahee the extension he's in search of. Compared to many of the veteran runners likely to be available this off-season, McGahee would be very attractive on the trade market because of his age. - Rotoworld If this is true, I guess that all the teams interested in Turner will come knocking. As a McGahee owner I would much rather see him on (almost) any team other than the Bills.
What is the deal? 1 Posted January 16, 2007 High character? Last week, it was reported in the Miami Herald that a woman had filed a paternity suit against McGahee. That makes three in 15 months for McGahee, by three different women. He has been declared the biological father in the other two cases and is paying child support. Chiniqua Smith, one of the women getting support from McGahee, said she mainly wants her son - Willis McGahee IV - to have a father in his life, "not just every blue moon." Smith said "you can't hold a gun to someone's head" to force him to spend time with his child. How do you preach character and justify keeping this sort of lowlife on your team? Owner Ralph Wilson said McGahee's off-field issues will weigh into any decision the team makes on a contract extension. Wilson wouldn't rule out an extension, but he seemed reluctant to give a monster payday to a running back he has termed a "disappointment." "I've been in this game too long to have someone hold a hammer over my head," Wilson said Monday by phone. more in this article
CrimKing 0 Posted January 16, 2007 I wouldnt Mind seeing him get moved to another team. Hopefully one that could run the ball with some consistency and use his skills.
miket7 0 Posted January 16, 2007 Talking to many other Bills fans, I believe that quite a large amount of people in Buffalo want to see McGahee traded this offseason. Based on who his agent is (Rosenhaus), his history for greatly exaggerating his own talent (ie: calling himself the best RB in the NFL), and the Bills history of letting high-priced players walk in free agency...it seems that he will either get traded this year or they just won't resign him in 2008. Personally, I think it would be much better to get something for him right now...even if it is only a 2nd round pick.

The Jets too, but somehow I don't see Buffalo trading him to the Jets.
MDC 8,042 Posted January 16, 2007 Drafting McGahee was moronic. RB was maybe the one position the Bills didn't need to fill back then. Now they're going to trade him - WTF? They'd have been better off drafting a QB in every round. Chances are one of them could play.
mozzy84 0 Posted January 16, 2007 more in this article I get this strange feeling that writer doesn't like Willis much
The Moose 0 Posted January 16, 2007 I wouldn't want to see Willis leave without a plan for replacing him. He's definitely worth a 1st rounder. The Bills don't have enough depth to go RBBC, and Anthony Thomas certainly isn't starter material. I guess we could draft a RB, but we already have enough needs to fill as it is. Belushi 9 Posted January 16, 2007 I can't understand why the Bills would trade him away. They have no one to take over for him. This is a team that made big strides this year and could contend for a wild-card spot next year. Why would you trade your best RB now? They aren't rebuilding. I'm certain that MacGahee will be a Bill next year.

I'm certain that MacGahee will be a Bill next year. I know he doesn't have the same talent or flashiness of McGahee, but I watched every Bills game this year and Anthony Thomas looked better than McGahee on a regular basis. With the Bills porous O-line they need a guy who will fall forward and get some positive yardage consistently, which is something Thomas does very well and McGahee does pretty dismaly. Belushi 9 Posted January 17, 2007 Thomas has bounced around the league for a reason. I don't think any team that has playoff aspirations would consider him as their starting RB for next season.

kutulu 1,722 Posted January 17, 2007 In a related story, Marv Levy was seen stuffing a large amount of used tissues into Ralph Wilson's coat pockets. Ralph blamed Marv for starting the Korean War. A short time later, they were both seen crying before falling asleep in a collective puddle of their own drool.
MTSkiBum 1,626 Posted January 17, 2007 I just dont see Willis being traded this year, unless they can land the burner, or maybe pick someone up in draft.

Boston 0 Posted January 17, 2007 I think the quicker Buffalo gets Willis out of town the better they'll be in the long run. He's an accident waiting to happen. He's got three paternity suits pending which means his paycheck could potentially be taking a big hit (it's call the Shawn Kemp Syndrome). Due to that and the fact his contract doesn't have much longer there's not much doubt he'll be looking for big money real soon. Add in Drew Rosenhaus as his trusty agent/mouthpiece and this could turn into a distraction on a team that doesn't need them. I've also read (and I'm not 100% about this) that he really hasn't taken to living in Buffalo. The Bills took a nice stride forward this year and the last thing they need is a disgruntled RB with off field distractions. Willis is a real good RB but Buffalo can definetly live without him. This is an important year for this franchise as they have an opportunity to take another step forward with a solid offseason.
Chemboy 0 Posted January 17, 2007 Starting quality RBs don't just fall off of trees. Unless they have a real answer on a replacement (read not AT), I don't see this as a smart move. Now if they get Burner or Jordan (due a 5 million bonus I think) sure Willis is tradable. This is not Madden where you can just go get a 1st round RB and train him to be the starter. Just ask the JETS. Besides who doesn’t have 2 or 3 paternity suits against them

Guy used to be a speed threat to take one to the house before destroying his knee - now he runs like he's got a load in his pants. It's a tip that when a 300 lb DL can chase you down, you just aren't very fast. Raiders want a 3rd rounder for Randy Moss - at least he's a has-been. You think someone's going to pony up a 2nd rounder for a never-was? I think it's wishful thinking on the behalf of Buffalo fans. Enjoy McGahee - you're stuck with him until he's released. He might get another shot somewhere, but I doubt anyone's going to give up anything of significance for the guy. And if rumor has it that he'll be released, why buy the cow when you get the milk for free? Just pick him up off the scrap heap down the road. Starting quality RBs don't just fall off of trees. Yes, but we're talking about McGahee - who doesn't fit that description. And based on guys like Mourice Jones-Drew, Marion Barber III, and many others, I'd say it's easier to get a starting RB than you imply.

Way to POSSIBLY aim average Maybe they realize they can draft a 2nd or 3rd rd Rb and get enough production from them instead of paying out oft injured overpriced players. RBBC is the wave of the future. There is good talent all over the league and I would be surprised if they get a 1st rounder for him unless a teams #1 gets dinged up badly
