Queen Pelosi wants free rides on Military aircraft for her and friends

Recommended Posts

murtha argued for the 757 for pelosi and even threatened the pentagon regarding funding if she didn't receive it. that dude's trouble, man. she wanted a bigger plane than hastert had because she didn't want to stop for fuel. any passengers that ride along are required to pay the parks service the equivalent of coach fare.

the obvious issues here involve the $22,000 per flight hour, the 11,000 gallons of fuel it uses, and the exhorbitant amount of co2 that a 757 emits. where are the al gore rants about the environmental impacts and the terrible burden this will add to the middle class by wasting taxpayer money?

anyway, it's been overblown and she's boring.

Reading comprehension must be tough for you.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not request a larger plane for personal use to travel cross-country without stopping, Bill Livingood, the House sergeant at arms, said Thursday.

Livingood said the request was his, and he made it for security reasons.

"The fact that Speaker Pelosi lives in California compelled me to request an aircraft that is capable of making non-stop flights for security purposes, unless such an aircraft is unavailable," Livingood, who has been at his post for 11 years, said in a written statement.

"I regret that an issue that is exclusively considered and decided in a security context has evolved into a political issue," the statement said.

Pelosi is striking back against accusations she asked for a plane larger and more expensive than the one used by former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, a claim published last week in The Washington Times.(Watch Pelosi call the GOP charges "a myth" )

The Times article, headlined "Pelosi's Power Trip -- Non-stop Nancy Seeks Flight of Fancy," led the Republican National Committee to send out a research briefing and blast Pelosi on the House floor.

The article said Pelosi asked the Pentagon for "routine access" to a military plane "not only for herself and her staff, but also for relatives and for other members of the California delegation," quoting sources "familiar with the discussions."

"I have never asked for a larger plane," Pelosi said. "This is a myth that they are talking about on the floor."

The White House also stood behind Pelosi.

"As speaker of the House, she is entitled to military transport and ... the proper arrangements are being made between the Sergeant of Arms Office in the House of Representatives and the U.S. Department of Defense," White House spokesman Tony Snow said.

"We think it's appropriate," he added. "And so, again, I think this is much ado about not a whole lot. It is important for the speaker to have this kind of protection and travel."

Try thinking before you spew.

ETA You're an idiot.

I find it fascinating that the libs think the cons myopically defend anything connish. Yet here is a clear opportunity for a lib to say, "you know, she may be out of line with this one." But do we see that? Not yet. Just errr... she didn't say mission accomplished. WTF? It's the president's job to keep up troop morale. Errr... at least she didn't start a wrong war. Yeah, that's relevant.

i think you're coming in on this a little late and obviously only have this article as your talking point. this was leaked by a pentagon employee, not the sargent at arms that you are so diligently resupplying us with.

nonetheless, i appreciate your knowledgeable and well thought out feedback. since i'm not in college any longer, what does eta and hth mean to you guys who hang out at the coffee houses?

Who cares who leaked the story? The story was wrong. The seargant at arms admitted that he made the request. So, the story is a complete lie.

your logic isn't logical, and it's likely a political gesture by the pentagon to smooth the turmoil. anyway, lighten up with the emotional kneejerks...i was trying to help you guys out letting you know that her entourage, whether they be family or money donators, would have to pay coach fare if they flew along. they wouldn't be getting a free ride just to party with her. it's a talking point you can use in a debate setting with your conservative acquaintances instead of just raising the volume of your voice and retorting back with your "bush lied" and "republicans hate the poor and minorities" warcries.

Sorry, that doesn't really cut it.

As I pointed out, the WT flat out makes stuff up & attributes it to anyone. With a track record like that again why should anyone comment on anything that paper prints.

And yeah, like Cdubb, I'll wait until I see something more credible.

Funny how you liberals don't have the same standards for yourselves. Think Dan Rather. He said Bush tried to get out of fighting for our country on "False" info.

But you focking liberals still belive that BS. You still bring it up all the time like it is a fact. Talk about your double-focking-standard.

CNN has never gotten a story wrong.......

 good one. I remember CNN admitting that they slanted coverage for more than 10 years a few years back. But the Clinton News Network is never wrong. They admitted it themselves fools. Man, liberals have such short memories.

So in conclusion, the right wing smear machine tried to drum up a story to attack Pelosi. Turns out the Seargent at Arms is responsible for ordering the plane and the whole attack on Pelosi was false...and pathetic. Way to go neocons!

What do facts matter, man? She's a Democrat! Anything that Fox, Limbaugh, or any neocon talking head says about her must be true. I mean, after all, she's a Democrat!

So it was a huge story, but there isn't a single shred of proof, not one link to it....that's so strange. I just did a search for "Sick Spotted Lizard" and pulled up 194,000 links.

Yet CNN admits liberal bias and you get none...

Must of been one big cover-up... :dunno:

Fox helped shape Bush's agenda

Asked if his News Corp. managed to shape the agenda on the war in Iraq, Murdoch said: "No, I don't think so. We tried." Asked by Rose for further comment, he said: "We basically supported the Bush policy in the Middle East…but we have been very critical of his execution."

It doesn't matter the damage has been done. Last night sitting with some friends who happen to be republican. They talked about how Obama was muslim and was raised in a muslim school, Pelosi demanding to use a milatary plane for her and friends and how Jim Webb writes child porn. And they believed it all.

It makes me sad to see what our system has come to. :headbanger:

They admitted to slanting coverage of Iraq for more than 10 years a few years back. I'm am not looking for a link right now. I didn't see it on the internet. It was on the TV news and every single news outlet reported it, including CNN. Something like that sinks in and you never forget it. I don't see how anyone could have missed it. I will attempt to find you a link latter. I don't know why, cause you will still deny it. You liberals never admitt to anything no ,atter how much evidence is produced. :ninja:

It is sad but this seems to be a common strategy with the neocons/bushies.

They really seem to just want to hear what they want to hear. Hell, I've got a friend who didn't talk to me for six months because he was furious that I'd even suggest that Colin Powell brought was was reported to be WMD into the UN chamber and made a case that Iraq had WMD. - Even when I pulled up his speech online! - These guys just live in denial. Hell, the same is true with the WMD. Even today, there are folks who believed it when Faux breatlessly announced that WE FOUND THE WMD! Even when the Administration itself came out and said that was the old (and completely unusable) WMD - and not the 'new' WMD we swore they had stockpiles of, these guys refuse to hear/believe anything outside of their little fantasy talking point world. - Really wierd.

At least the Dems were all pretty pixxed at Clinton for lying.

frank, the topic of this thread, prior to it being hijacked by the tears and screams of the lunatic fringe, was "pelosi wants free rides on military aircraft for her friends." the "fact" is, as i replied, "they would actually have to pay for the ride, they wouldn't get it for free." then you said i have problems with comprehension of your story, which mentioned nothing about paying for the ride, which is the topic of the thread. i am seeing a pattern here that you may want to address with a pychiatrist. usually the name calling is just an attempt by libs to end an argument feeling successful when they have no talking points, or facts as you call them, except i gave you the talking point. it's time to start paying attention.

and be careful how black you're calling the kettle when it comes to facts. both parties are equally adept at losing sight of the truth.

p.s. rush is for old people and fox is moving way too far to the left.
