It still doesn't look like that hard of impact - hard to tell when you are going 180 mph. RIP #3

You just never know. That crash kills Earnhardt and Michael Waltrip was able to walk away from this unhurt.

This might be the hardest impact I have ever seen.

Man, I am STOKED for the 2007 NASCAR season to finally get under way; those three months since the 2006 season ended were sheer torture. I mean, who wouldn't get psyched for a sport who's season starts around Valentine's Day and ends just before Thanksgiving? There's barely enough NFL football, NBA, NHL and NCAA football/basketball action from mid November to mid February to sustain NASCAR fans like me.

Never been to a race in my life. Finally saw my first NASCAR track this past November... went down to Florida and did a tour of Daytona. Being right out on that track makes me give even MORE credit to these guys and what they do, unreal!

GO HARVICK GO!!

 #29

Have you ever been to a race?

Longer ago than I care to remember; I'd go to 2 or 3 each season: Watkins Glen, Pocono, New Hampshire or Dover. It's gotten too unwieldy for me to keep up with nowadays, the group of people we'd attend races with has dwindled, my family takes up more of my vacation time and I've generally lost interest in attending the events live.

I used to hate Nascar until a buddy drug me to the Brickyard in 2001. Been a fan ever since. Nothing better than tailgating for a few days before a race then being in the grandstand for one.

You just can't understand it until you see a race in person. I remember when then engines started my hair stood straight up on ends. Then the cars passed by soooo fast -- man it just revs me up right now!

A group of us go to Martinsville each year, since 2000, for the Fall race. Short track racing is the best!

I could take a right out of my work parking lot & 22 miles later take a right into the back parking lot of Martinsville. No thanks

I'm with Tony Stewart, they should fill it full of water & fish in it :shocking:

Now Bristol

The Hotpass on Directv is pretty dam cool, not going to pay for it, but it's nice for free

I hope the 20 puts the 5 in the fence

I totally agree. My hubby is in to Nascar and would watch it every Sunday while I was like

Then he convinced me to go to the Dickies 500 in November and I had a blast. So now I'm a fan.

Tony :shocking:

Kyle Petty - I just don't understand why this guy can't ever catch a break :dunno: . I don't remember him ever being in the top 10.

It sucks to see the #20 team bring a great car to daytona every year and never win it for various reasons. Oh well. Hopefully Martin can pull it off.

On a lighter note, here's what I think is the greatest daytona 500 finish ever. You have to turn your audio up a ways to hear the broadcast, but it's worth it.

I was looking at a #8 top ten finish and a Gordon 20ish place but now stuck with a DNF  At this point I'd like to see MM pull it off.

Wow what a finish - - this race becomes great the last 50 laps each time. Too bad for Martin.

42nd to 12th I suppose is respectable for Gordon

Since when did a wreck like that not warrant an immediate yellow flag? Martin won that race.

wasnt Harvick already ahead of Martin at the time of the crash?

Martin regained the lead heading into the turn

It would all depend on when they would have threw the flag.

Had to leave about 50 laps in so I just finshed watching it on Tivo, holy crap, what a finish.

I went to my first NASCAR race at age 2, so I've been watching this crap for 35 years & that "winner at the time the caution comes out" is the dumbest rule EVAH! I'm really glad they didn't throw the yellow & let those two race to the line. They got it right, the wreck was behind the leaders & they needed to let it go.

I was really pulling for Mark at the end, but when I saw Kenseth (17) slam Harvick in the rear going into 3, I knew Mark was in big trouble.

Wouldn't be the Daytona 500 if there wasn't some kind of crazy sh!t to talk about for 2 months
