That'd be Mr. Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army to you sir... and HIS granpa fought for the Union in the Civil War. Elgin Battery, Light Artillery. Sorry my Dad missed out on Viet Nam, born in 1934 but he was in the Navy. My brother woulda gone to Saudi, way back in 1990, Airborne ... but for his heart .... had open heart surgery as a baby ... good friend of mine was Army reserves, 1990 ... went to Saudi. Saw the "Highway of Death" and more.

Of course ... in my opinion, I've seen war too. First hand.

How about you?

TAS is the only person here I will take any crap from, re: 9/11

But he wouldn't do that. And if you gave him crap for losing his sister, I'd call you a heartless bastard.

Like it or not .... I wish I wasn't .... but I was pretty damn close, that whole morning. Saw it all first hand. Was not a good day ... but I was there. It's the truth.

No anger from me. I've always thought you were a douche from day one. And I love how you say I have anger, yet you have stated you "hate" me. LMFAO. That's pathetic to have that much disdain for anyone on a message board. Yet again you are a hypocritical pathetic fat ass.

I never will forget when my buddy first introduced me to this board. He worked in Dallas and posted on the old board under the name Stu Pidaso. You still claim you came up with that username and he and I have laughed about it for years. I talked to him about 2 weeks ago and he asked me, "Does that stupid fock Giants Fan still post his useless drivel?" I told him yep and he then replied "Glad to see he's still the board dipshiot."

LMFAO, you are PWNED yet again.

1: No matter how much you complain, and lie ... yer still NOT a first day registrar.

2: It was STUART PIDASO ... that was my old nick .... and I would sig -Stu ... but given the opportunity to nab the name Giants Fan .... which like 5 people used ... I was first. I don't care what your imaginary friend says .... I WAS KNOWN .... because I would reply to almost EVERY post ... right or wrong, I'd give you my opinion ... sound familiar?

3: And yes ... I do hate you .... because you are a liar, redneck, Bush voter, and you are destroying my country!

1. Do you think I give a fock when I posted? Nope...

2. You've claimed numerous times on this board you came up with the original name of Stu Pidaso on the old board. Imagine that....you backpedal and lie YET AGAIN. What a focking tool....

3. Again, if you think I give a fock that you hate me, think again. What I do know is that it's pathetic to hate someone on a message board. Of course, since this is the only place where you can interact, I guess it's no surprise you have such feelings. This only further proves my point that if this board were to go away you would crawl into a corner, get into the fetal position, and cry like a little biotch that you are.

While it is true that some (many... most...) of the good posters were here early on, just because you were here early doesn't make you a good poster. I hope you don't teach logic to your students GF.

Logic ... you can't teach. Procedure. Work. Gumption ... attention to detail ... that's what it takes in life, to make it. You work, and work, and work. Otherwise your chances of success are very slim. And if you are lucky, some day all your hard work pays off.

If not ... you worked your ass off for a fixed return on a 401k, and a doublewide. But it beats living on the street!

You can teach logic. It is a very structured discipline. And your logic sucks.

Also, luck has very little to do with it. Luck is the crutch of liberals who don't take personal responsibility for their successes or failures.

I bet you are "Waiting on the World to Change" like John Mayer and all of his loser liberal friends:

me and all my friends

we're all misunderstood

they say we stand for nothing and

there's no way we ever could

now we see everything that's going wrong

with the world and those who lead it

we just feel like we don't have the means

to rise above and beat it

so we keep waiting

waiting on the world to change

we keep on waiting

waiting on the world to change

it's hard to beat the system

when we're standing at a distance

so we keep waiting

waiting on the world to change

now if we had the power

to bring our neighbors home from war

they would have never missed a Christmas

no more ribbons on their door

and when you trust your television

what you get is what you got

cause when they own the information, oh

they can bend it all they want

that's why we're waiting

waiting on the world to change

we keep on waiting

waiting on the world to change

it's not that we don't care,

we just know that the fight ain't fair

so we keep on waiting

waiting on the world to change

and we're still waiting

waiting on the world to change

we keep on waiting waiting on the world to change

one day our generation

is gonna rule the population

so we keep on waiting

waiting on the world to change

we keep on waiting

waiting on the world to change

Tell all the mid level Enron employees ... that lost everything they had ... for some other guys golden parachute ... that luck had nothing to do with it. Luck has nothing to do with it? How about my friends that got ona plane in Boston to LA on 9/11? Not bad luck?

Ask Mark Cuban what he thinks about luck. Bill Gates will give you a different answer. They are both right.

Some people take credit for good luck .... and don't work hard. See: Paris Hilton ... she thinks she works hard ..... she'll tell you, about how hard she works. She doesn't even know what it is.

Giants Fan, I gotta ask you. Why do you feel compelled to tell us your 9/11 story every few weeks? Really.

I don't know you real well, but I've been here since '99 as well. I have read enough of your posts, including yours here to Tarheel, that tell me you and I probably disagree on most everything. And that's okay.

But I'm just puzzled why you think any of these people care about you being there in NYC on 9/11. Can you explain that to me?

I'm a mid-level employee, and if my company went Enron tomorrow, I'd be fine. All I would lose is the value of stock options which were bonuses anyway. I keep nothing else in my company, including flipping our semiannual stock purchase plan shares the day they arrive. It is called diversification.

I'd be interested to read Cuban's take on luck. On the surface he was at the right place at the right time. But IMO, he put himself in that place. The internet was taking off, he established a company, he sold that company. The average person doesn't do that.

On a plane from Boston to LA on 9/11? That was bad luck. As are the people killed every year by drunk drivers. Not sure the relevance tho.

The simple answer?

That was a pretty significant day in my life. I'd like to think about it less. I guess you had to be there ... but I don't want to forget. I can't. There were plans to blow up the train I was on that morning ... that didn't go through, for whatever reason. Luck? I don't know what you call it ... but I survived. Learned a lot about myself that day. And it was NOT .... that IAFP.

:shocking:

Believe me ... I only talk about it here .... because other people here bring it up. There was ONE person that posted here, from NYC on 9/11. Me. Someone has the pdf. it's the truth ... it's all true, but nobody here ever said, "Hey that sucks ... are you doing OK?" Instead, people attacked me over it .... "Whell at first you said the secon plane hit at blah blah .... and then you changed your story!"

I kinda always thought that was just .... not cool. Particularly when people knew, I really was there.

Anybody who was there .... even if they don't know anybody that died .... understands why I might feel like, "HOW DARE YOU!" ... a lil bit. Right? Can ya feel me?

I hate to talk about it ... really .... and I think it's lame to use it ... like kryptonite against me.

My question wasn't really why that day was significant for you and something you will never forget. If you were, in fact, on a train that was targetted for destruction that day, I wouldn't expect you to forget.

What I'd like to know is why you feel compelled to tell the people on this fantasy football board about it every few weeks. It would seem that they either don't believe you or they have heard it so much that they get tired of hearing about it.

Either way it seems like a waste of time to me.

Another example of "luck": I just got a large commission check from my employer. They have shown a general, shall I say, unhappiness with paying such amounts in the past. The day it arrived I moved virtually all of it into an account they do not have access to, in case they should change their mind and try to retract the deposit. Could they do that? I don't know, really. But what I know now is that to get to that money, they for sure have to go thru me, and they will get it over my decomposing corpse.

Luck favors the well-prepared, or whatever the hell the saying is. :shocking:

Here's an example of luck. When I applied to grad school it was JUST Colombia. If I didn't get into Columbia (those snobs) ... I did not have a plan B. Well this woman was subletting my Mom's apartment in the Village ... and I just kinda swung by, thinking my Mom was already there ... and the place was a mess! Anyway, I helped her clean up ... and we got to talking .... and that's how I got into NYU.

Luck? Or hard work. Maybe a little of both?

Oh yeah ... 34 A ... and over 40. Jewish lady .... I know she wanted the Vitamin G ... but I have my morals! If she was young and hot ... I'da boned her hard though!

:shocking:

I was born a white man, in America.

Not luck?

If you are an odds guy .... that makes pocket Aces look like crap. White man, in America. That's like getting dealt 3 ACES ... and you only have 2 cards.

Certainly life has a component of luck; being in the right place at the right time, etc. It is what you do with it that makes the difference.

Not having a plan B to Columbia has nothing to do with luck, that is just stupid.

Running into the woman subletting your Mom's apartment has a component of luck. But as per your description, you helped clean, got to talking... and that led to you going to NYU. That part is NOT luck, it is proactively benefitting from a fortunate situation. You could just as well have sucker punched her and pissed on her quivering body; you probably would not have had the same result.

HTH.

I hear that .... I coulda sat at home and played Madden ... but because I am a good son, I stopped by ... and I CLEANED ... scrubbed, totally helped this woman get her shiat together .... and my Mom was thrilled with how clean the Apartment was. Took WORK!

And she happened to work for NYU. I didn't know. Just .... luck.
