RLLD 4,254 Posted April 30, 2007 Looking overall at the top 10 1) Adrian Peterson 2) Calvin Johnson 3) Jamarcus Russell 4) Marshawn Lynch 5) Brady Quinn 6) Brandon Jackson 7) Michael Bush 8) Anthony Gonzales 9) Dwayne Bowe 10) Greg Olsen Comments?

RLLD 4,254 Posted April 30, 2007 unless you start 2 qb's they are rated to high imo.... Most teams in a dynasty league already have 3 or four, with perhaps one sitting on their taxi squad. These dynasty drafts are more "investment" picks. If you have an aging QB corps you might want to grab on early....
GB Rules 0 Posted April 30, 2007 I personally like Meachum better than Gonzalez or Bowe. He should start soon and is in a very productive offense. Michael Bush is boom or bust, but worth a flyer in this weak RB draft.

What is the deal? 1 Posted April 30, 2007 Chris Henry isn't in your top 10? I can agree with that, but I think he will be drafted in the top 10 in most leagues. I also think Ted Ginn deserves some consideration to be in the top 10? I really think Russell should, at the least, be in the bottom half. No improvements on the OL. No consistent WR's. Same could be said for Michael Bush who is at the least a year away from having an impact.
gobuckeyes 0 Posted April 30, 2007 Lynch should probably go higher than Russell, since he's not only a RB, but the only running back in the draft who is almost guaranteed a starting spot in the fall. He was a terrific receiver in college too, and that should give him a big bonus in PPR leagues.

Little Big Head 6 Posted April 30, 2007 I like Quinns prospects better than Russells. With B.Edwards,K.Winslow, and drafting J.Thomas, I think Quinn has more pieces in place to succeed. I also think Quinn will be playing with a chip on his shoulder after dropping so far. Theres nothing in oakland that makes me excited about Russell
Belushi 9 Posted April 30, 2007 I wouldn't invest in either Quinn or Russell at this point. I'm in two dynasty leagues, and it'll take a good 2-3 years before either will be even a decent #2 QB. That's 2-3 years of salary cap room and a roster spot, so I wouldn't rank them ahead of the other guys listed there. And unless you start 2 QB's, chances are there are allot of other QB's available that would be a better use of the roster spot, unless you're in a 30-team league or something. To be honest, I don't really like any of the RB's that much this year. I love Adrian Peterson, but he will at best split carries. At worst he comes in to spell Taylor every couple of series. He could be another Cedric Benson who people have been holding onto for years with little return. Lynch should be at the top of the rankings IMO, followed by Calvin. Chris Henry and Brandon Jackson have the next best chance to produce this year, but I think both will be splitting carries, for at least the 1st half of the year. Gonzalez has a good chance to be the best rookie WR outside of Calvin for this year.
bigpoly60 0 Posted April 30, 2007 Gonzalez has a good chance to be the best rookie WR outside of Calvin for this year. You think a #3 WR as a #5 option on a team will be the best rookie WR outside of CJ? WOW. You are either from Ohio State or Indy?

Have you ever heard of Brandon Stokely? IMO Gonzalez in a PERFECT situation to have an impact real quick. I'm not saying he will, but he could.

CurleyQ 0 Posted May 14, 2007 I too like Gonzalez as the 2nd or 3rd WR out of this draft. From what I read he runs great routes and obviously he is on a great offense. Whoever made the point about C Henry is right on. The dynasty leagues I am involved in value RB's way higher than may even be logical. For that reason, I think the 2nd round is a good place to get WR's, after using the first round on "future" RB potential, even if it means you make a mistake. Sometimes that seems a little goofy to me, but because the whole fantasy draft mirrors the NFL draft as being somewhat of a crapshoot, I would rather take a flyer on a RB in the first and try to hit a home run. This year seems like one of the worst years for RBs, so maybe after the Big 3, you are better off trying to strengthen your team, even with a position like TE or QB in the first round. I dunno. I am still weighing things, but I probably still take a RB and take my chances, at least until you get to 1.08 or 1.09.

ITA I think the WR position is pretty strong this year, even the QB position has tangible potential running pretty deep, but the RB position is like hit or miss once you pass the top 2. For IDP leagues, this is a great year to grab some considerable defensive talent. JMHO
Jetdoc 20 Posted May 14, 2007 The consensus that I've seen before is... 1a) Adrian Peterson 1b) Marshawn Lynch 3) Calvin Johnson The rest is based on how heavily weighted your QB scoring is.

This is what i am observing to emerge as the "standard". In my draft the guy at 1.02 actually timed out So I was abl to have my choice since I was at 1.03. I took Calvin Johnson because I already had the likes of Addai, Brown, Portis and others, but my receivers were either old or sucked...
Chief71 0 Posted May 15, 2007 Here's ours so far in a RB/QB heavy league 1.1 AD acquired in a trade 1.2 J. Russell 1.3 CJ 1.4 M. Lynch 1.5 B. Quinn 1.6 K. Irons 1.7 C. Henry 1.8 A. Gonzalez 1.9 1.10 I'm waiting to see who goes at 1.9, but my guess would be Brandon Jackson...I think then I would have to take D. Bowe.
