robb 81 Posted June 5, 2007 quote: "its slim pickens" I thought he was a Cincinnati receiver who played in the 1990's? Or a country & western singer? Either way, not a good pick this year, I am guessing! I too am a Viqueens homer, born and raised in Minnesota-Purple People Eaters. I still cheer for them, but I too am going to be extremely disappointed this year I am afraid. Agreed, nothing on offense this year. I think the Defense could be mid to upper team selection, but that is it. Longwell worth a shot?
Da Bomb 0 Posted June 5, 2007 I drafted him at 8.11 so I am not going to be counting on him too heavily. Hopefully the rest of my starters will suffice with 10 or 16 points a week from Favre. The INTs do hurt, but Favre is good for 3800-4000 yards every year. I was hoping for Brees in the 4th and ended up with Hines Ward, not bad. Then in the 6th Kitna was dropping and Fumbleweed took his second QB with my pick next in line. I took Galloway at a great value, but RB RB WR WR WR WR isn't something I normally do. I could of had McNabb or Bulger instead of Hines Ward, but I still liked about 5 QBs on the board. the favre thing has me intrigued, since i was the one defending him before last season. i want to figure out what his ppg would be in the last two years since has value has really taken a hit. just curious to see if hes as bad as i make him sound or as good as you do : 2006 - 4, 23 (no), 24 (det), 6, 12, 17, 11, 13, 21 (min), 2, 11, 13, 19, 3, 9, 14 2005 - 6, 24 (cle), 12, 26 (car), 20 (no), 20 (min), 10, 7, 12, 17, 8, 9, 5, 3, 8, 13 it turns out that favre is a little more consistent than i thought, just consistently in that 11-13 point range... so consistently mediocre it seems. if i break it down a little more, out of his last 32 starts... great fantasy starts (20+): 7 = 22% good (15-19): 3 = 9% mediocre (10-14): 10 = 31% poor (single digits): 12 = 38% so 29% of the time -- an average of 5 weeks a year -- favre was a good or great fantasy QB. but 69% of the time he was mediocre at best, and more than 1 in every 3 weeks he was very poor and left anyone who started him a very sizable hole to dig out of. to me these numbers prove what i suspected with favre. he is a great spot starter at QB at this point of his career. nothing more, nothing less. play him against detroit and minnesota and the saints and you'll often do quite well. but count on him for most of your season and youre in trouble. especially interesting is how favre has started off well both years and then absolutely crashed and burned at the end of each season. just dont think hes a full time starter at this point. if you had at least taken like... favre and then big ben, back to back, it wouldve been a worthwhile platoon attempt. but i dont really even feel like russell and mcnair are platoon material, pretty much just emergency starters. so i just cant really agree with that strategy. others thoughts on favre as a starter after seeing these numbers? thedanzone 2 Posted June 5, 2007 The rookie might be a little slow to pick up the IND offense, so Dallas may get some more touches this year.
NAn 39 Posted June 5, 2007 like alot of the picks in 11th/12th...equivalent to 16th+ in a real draft and what's to be expected: flyers on b/ups with potential to do more. Chad Jackson Meh...considered another player I'm about to ask you guys about but Chad for no other reason that potential/2nd year/Moss and Stallworth's injury history. Rod Smith I almost took him 11th and 12th...is consensus that he's done? Walker/Marshall show in Denver from here on out?

I looked at that stuff myself to make sure I wasn't talking out of my ass before I responded. I also thought about taking Ben right after Favre too, I believe I made that comment in the discussion thread. Favre had a similiar two year average I believe in 1999 and 2000 and rebounded. I don't think he can rebound to the old Favre again, but like I said, he'll throw for 3800-4000 yards which is better than all but 4-6 QBs. In the 8th round I think that's okay. The INTs is what really hurts Favre. If I could get 3800 yards with 18 TDs and 10 INTs I'm happy, but with Favre he might throw 29 INTs again. You made a good point about him and I agree with what you have said. The difference is that I don't need to count on him as heavily as you may of had to count on him last year, because I did draft him late and my others starters should do well with Favre scoring 10 points a week.
