Bush is sick.

Recommended Posts

"I made it clear to Congress and the American people I will not allow our nation to cross this moral line," said President Bush. "Last year, Congress passed a similar bill. I kept my promise by vetoing it. And today I am keeping my word again. I am vetoing the bill that Congress has sent."

I saw this too, and I just don't see why he should veto this.

There are people who really could benifit from this.

I guess the next President will have the opportunity to pass it.

If stem cells really are as promising as hyped, the private sector will invest. No need to spend tax dollars.

unless the pharmaceutical industry is threatened

see american big oil & auto & bush vs. fuel efficient cars

But isn't that why they do the research? They need to keep trying for new breakthrough's.

You can't have a cure unles you keep researching / trying to find one.

I'm not a big politics guy, so I'm not going to argue about it. It just sounds like a good idea to me.

Well, I oppose it on moral grounds, but the utilitarian argument is starting to get tiresome. Adult stem cells have been quite productive so far, and embryonic stem cells have yielded absolutely nothing. It helping a lot of people is not on the horizon.

Well, they found out how to clone things, I guess they could possibly find out how to grow an ear, or an arm.

B) We will only find out by doing research.

I'm done on this.. There is nothing I can do about it. I just think that if nothing is done, than nothing can be gained.

Cuz we all know medical breakthroughs, like phenomenal medical care, all come from the government. You phuckin libs are spinnin your wheels with this crap. The private sector can still do whatever is wishes with stem cells. Another red herring from the i didnt get enough hugs as a child crowd. Grow the phuck up you pussiees.

If research is proving there are ways to create stem cells without destroying embroys.... why not make that attempt?

If you can avoid the morality issue all together... go that route. Everyone wins.

I am no expert on the subject but I am pretty sure that University Research has led to quite a few medical breakthroughs.

Nice, way to contribute to the discussion boz.

Since we are destroying embryos everyday and just throwing them in the garbage, why not use them for research?

in adult stem cells.

I wasn't talking about stem cells at all. He just said that medical breakthroughs did not come from the government. I was just pointing out that I am pretty sure that government funded university medical research has led to quite a few breakthroughs.
