Comedy is a lot of timing and redtodd's comment re: "the boy band of comedy" only confirms how unfunny redtodd actually is. I don't think Dane is opening for a has-been at Indian-run casinos nowadays. Anyone that has seen Cook's cashew on the peemus routine knows. Everyone loves to hate stuff thats popular but MAYBE its popular because people like it. Dane Cook was doing college gigs 5-6yrs ago and then he made it. Frank Calliendo came to Michigan Fing Tech (UP of mich) in '98 and then the dude blew up. Neither of them are comedic geniuses, but they do stuff the masses like and there is nothing wrong with that. In the last few years, he has started doing jokes with no real punchlines or direction. He just says the same thing three times with a whacky face and then laughs at his own jokes. I really do not find any humor in him anymore and there are far more talented comedians than him out there who are not half as popular as him. The only people who really seem to dig him now are teenage girls. He also "borrows" from Louis C.K. Don't get me wrong, I would kill to be in his shoes, but I just think he is painfully mediocre now. I have never liked him and always thought he was very unfunny and even mildly annoying, yet EVERYONE around me loves him to death, including people who usually don't like mere stupid, loud, random "humor." Demetri Martin's stuff sounds a lot like Mitch hedburg's stuff. But yea, that youtube does make sense though, it looks like Dane did imitate the idea of Louis CK's jokes.
