wiffleball 4,788 Posted August 29, 2007 Apparently, it's pretty big in England. Had a roomate a long time ago who turned me on to it. In the UK, only their style of Heinz beans are allowed. Here, we had it with Bush's beans. Gotta admit, for being some kind of WW2 hand-me-down, it's not too bad. Decent amount of crunch, warmth protein, & carbs. I can see why so many English started their days (or ended their nights) with it. It may be one of the cheapest hot meals around. And, in a pinch, you don't even need the 'hot' part. There's of course variations. Fairly tasty when you add cheese. I've tried the 'ranch style' beans down here in Texor and they're pretty good. Bush's is pretty sweet. The ranch style aren't. - Just a matter of preference. Anyhoo, just wondering if anybody else has ever heard of it. The English have some really interesting food preferences - and from I can tell, a lot of them come from subsistence living. What was a necessity before is a cherished comfort food now. More to come...

HellToupee 1,582 Posted April 14 Seems nasty and their baked beans are in a tomato based sauce When I'm in the crowd, I don't see anything My mind goes a blank, in the humid sunshine When I'm in the crowd I don't see anything I fall into a trance, at the supermarket The noise flows me along, as I catch falling cans Of baked beans on toast, technology is the most when
