Signature_Athletes 0 Posted September 9, 2007 he does have 20 carries, so RBBC or not that's a lot of carries, he just has to do something with it. I"m still happy I have him, you have to know if you get him you are going to have huge games and games where he barely plays, it's the Patriots!!! Good news is I have Chris Brown as my 4th RB. I agree with this 100%. My #2 back gets 20 carries, I am fine with that. He does need to produce though! I don't see him ever getting more than 25 carries, and I am fine with that. It is a bummer that he will not get a lot of goal line carries, but that is becoming more common these days. So, let's not all over-react so soon!
Mark_it_8_Dude 0 Posted September 9, 2007 No I am not concerned. You had to know that this is what you get with Patriot players. Billicheck works everyone into the game and their offense takes what the defense is giving them. If Sammy Morris is spelling Maroney, it just means he'll have more in the tank come seasons end. tazman01 0 Posted September 9, 2007 IT'S A RBBCHow could you be a regular here and not know this????? It looks like I gotta spend more time here - I missed that one and drafted him and Rudi.
Cuse9 129 Posted September 9, 2007 I'm more concerned that Maroney has no receptions. One of the reasons I took him was because I thought he would get some catches every game? Was I wrong to think that?
ThatDude 12 Posted September 9, 2007 I'll be starting MBIII over Maroney in my 14 team league until I see a higher number of carries
Mark_it_8_Dude 0 Posted September 9, 2007 I'll be starting MBIII over Maroney in my 14 team league until I see a higher number of carries I'm not so sure that MBIII is going to get too many more opportunities than Maroney... Julius Jones. RBBC is RBBC.
gocolts 300 Posted September 9, 2007 did you start the thread or just come in here and stick your fat ass in? thought so, bye. What, you tucking tail and running just because you didn't know NE was a RBBC. Focking poosay. I was just busting your balls Mr. Thin Skin. WTF do you do in your league when someone busts your balls, run and hide or whine like a little b1tch????
Bearsftw 0 Posted September 9, 2007 Well, 7pts by my scoring. I'm not too concerned, I think he will be a consistent player. I also had Lee Evans starting, so you can tell how my week is going. Surprisingly, I'm winning by 10pts and with the remaining players I seem to be in great shape to win my first game. $100/team 12 teams in the league.

teejay booker 0 Posted September 9, 2007 I went to the Jets-Pats game today and was talking to some hardcore Pats homers. Basically they said that we should expect Maroney to get 15 touches a game because the Pats are concerned that he will break down by the end of the year. Apparently Morris got slightly more touches than he normally would per week, but we should expect something similar to this each game.
ffdomino 0 Posted September 10, 2007 1) He got 20 carries so he is not in a RBBC 2) New England will always spread out the production. 3) They had the lead for most of the game so why risk it with a player "that may not be able to shoulder a workhorse load" yet Bottom line, they won and won huge. I think the coaches did their job. So what if they did not appease fantasy football players. Please keep in mind I own SJax, Ronnie Brown, and Jacobs so I have my own issues right now (Deshaun Foster and Chris Brown on the bench). Good thing I startet Romo! doobious 0 Posted September 10, 2007 I don't believe anyone that says they drafted Maroney as their #1 expecting him to split carries. Just like Addai, I stayed away from them due to all the weapons surrounding them. Although, I do see Addai having a better season than Maroney.

Apparently Morris got slightly more touches than he normally would per week, but we should expect something similar to this each game. That's pretty much my feeling as well. I own Morris in 3 leagues as a rb 5/6 and didn't draft Maroney in any redrafts. I do own Maroney in a dynasty and will be waiting for him to have one of his few breakout games to deal him. Maroney is a stud but the Pats won't give him more than 250 carries over the season IMO. I think they use any chance they can to rest him in hopes to have him fresh in the playoffs. If I was drafting in a playoff league I'd take him as a #1 rb in a heartbeat.
ThatDude 12 Posted September 10, 2007 You think Barber will get more than 20 carries? I don't need MBIII to get 20 carries a game. I just need my RB to be in the game to get the goal line carries
mozzy84 0 Posted September 10, 2007 I don't need MBIII to get 20 carries a game. I just need my RB to be in the game to get the goal line carries nice backtrack major overreaction going on in here, the guy was banged up all offseason/preseason and he still got 20 carries the first game and came out of it healthy, you guys should be happy. Hes not going to get a td every single week.
craphouse rats 0 Posted September 10, 2007 My only concern is that he didn't get the goaline TD. I like that he had 20 carries. Granted he should have been able to do more with those 20 carries but Evans stealing the GL TD worries me. Is this something us maroney ownes should be concerned about all year? VaTerp 0 Posted September 10, 2007 I don't believe anyone that says they drafted Maroney as their #1 expecting him to split carries. Just like Addai, I stayed away from them due to all the weapons surrounding them. Although, I do see Addai having a better season than Maroney. Agree w/ you about Maroney. Disagree about Addai. I was/am NOT as high on Maroney as most people. Not as much b/c of how Brady spreads the ball around, but b/c of how Bellichek spreads around the FF stats. Maroney has to deal w/ Morris and Faulk getting touches (esp. in the passing game), Evans or someboy like him getting GL carries, Vrabel, another LB or a 3rd string TE catching short TDs. NE is not afraid to put just about anyone on their team in game situations and often those situation involve others getting valuable FF pts that Maroney could get. I was/am VERY high on Addai like a lot of other people. Indy has lots of other weapons but Addai is by FAR their best and really only option in the running game. And Manning uses him very efficiently in the passing game. He's gonna have a HUGE year. My only concern is that he didn't get the goaline TD. I like that he had 20 carries. Granted he should have been able to do more with those 20 carries but Evans stealing the GL TD worries me. Is this something us maroney ownes should be concerned about all year? If I was a Maroney owner I'd be concerned all year for reasons stated above. He's a solid RB2 and will have some good weeks but there were other guys who were drafted after him that I will think have better years. Im assuming most who drafted him also got another solid RB so they should be ok but those that were hoping for a huge breakout year by Maroney will be dissapointed. ThatDude 12 Posted September 10, 2007 Well it doesnt matter now in my 14 team league. I drafted last and picked up Maroney and Brandon Jacobs in my draft. Looks like I'll be starting Maroney and MBIII
DankNuggs 305 Posted September 10, 2007 Everyone....Morris, Faulk, waterboy, etc. And is this really any surprise? That offense has always been a 'spread the wealth' type offense. And now they go and add 4 very good/great WRs. Other than Brady, I really see no consistent fantasy standouts on this team. Ya, Randy Moss really has no upside in this offense. Laughable. Maroney will be great. Oline needs to gel a little bit in the running game.
DT58 0 Posted September 10, 2007 Not worried at all. By the end of the season he will be a top 10 RB. It's what I tell myself before I go to bed at night.
thenewlibrahi2 0 Posted September 14, 2007 my problem is now that i have mbIII, tatum bell, lamont jordan, and maroney. who do i start? i think tatum will stay on the bench, but i'm considering jordan adn mbIII this week. while all have tough matchups, i think SD is the best run DEF. any thoughts? p.s., i'm not as worried as i was during the game. they were up at least 2 tds at the end of the game when evans got the goalline td. no big deal. jrdaman 0 Posted September 14, 2007 I think you all are overreacting to one little game! Chilllllll yall, Maroney will be fine. Simply put, he is the most talented back in New England. He is the best back one a powerhouse of a team. In tough games they will rely on his ability before the other backs, even if the scrubs do steal a few opportunitues. I am defending my position as a guy who just traded Lamont Jordan and Roy Williams for Maroney and Ronald Curry. I wouldn't trade a number one for Maroney, but definetly a number two or three rb for him all day long! But I say now is the time to buy. You guys ridiculed me back in July when I said that Randy Moss would be a top five wr this year, so go ahaed and dog me again, I'm ready!
