Patrick977 0 Posted September 12, 2007 I give: Matt Leinart, Larry Johnson, and Joey Galloway I get: Alex Smith, Shaun Alexander, and D.J. Hackett Obviously as an LJ owner, I was displeased with his week one performance, but I'm trying very hard not to panic because his schedule gets better eventually. Anyway, one of the other managers saw how distressed I was when venting about this, and offered me a trade. The crux of the trade is Larry Johnson for Shaun Alexander, the others thrown in for some balance. He wanted Houshmandzadeh or Roy Williams in some way, but they are not on the table for me. I'm not thrilled with Galloway for Hackett, but he wants to improve his WR situation (he has T.O., Reggie Brown, Bobby Jones, and Hackett). Hackett is out for a month, but all he is is a backup to me anyway. Roy Williams and T.J. Houshmandzadeh are starting most weeks. Leinart and Smith are essentially a wash to me. So what do you think? Post yours and I will help.

Post yours and I will help. Thanks for helping with mine. Does he have another wr to deal? I agree Leinart and Smith are a wash and the way KC looks, I am not high on LJ. However, you take a hit at wr since you would have Hackett and Jennings out with no options if one of your starters go out. Anyone on the waiver?
Patrick977 0 Posted September 12, 2007 The waiver would hold players such as Arnaz Battle, Nate Burleson, Drew Carter, Roscoe Parrish, but obviously pickings are slim in a 12 team league. I think Jennings will be back quick enough that it won't be too big a blow, but there are some emergency players should I need it. The other WR he has that I could get would be Reggie Brown, but in negotiations he seemed to not be too terribly high on that option. As it is he still seems a little iffy on the trade. His other WRs are Bobby Jones (don't want) and Terrell Owens (no chance of getting him).
ramblin'wreck 0 Posted September 12, 2007 I think I would do this trade.. after a long hesitation. Let's break this trade down position be position.. Leinart for Smith - both of them were not impressive over the weekend, but I see Leinart has more weapons than Smith does. Galloway for Hackett - I don't like Hackett's injury at all, it may linger all season long. Now LJ for SA - from what we saw with KC on their first game.. it was as advertised.. bad QB, bad offensive line, bad bad So, at the end, you get upgraded for the QB and RB position. A downgrade at a WR, but it's your back up anyway. So, go for it. THanks for helping with mine.
SaintsInDome2006 441 Posted September 12, 2007 LJ for SA is arguably straight up. So this comes down to: - Leinart for ASmith: lose. - Galloway for Hackett: lose. I would say don't do the trade. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=286014

Texansfan 0 Posted September 12, 2007 I like SA for LJ this year. But the rest of the deal is trash for you. Leinert > Smith Galloway > Hackett who is hurt and out indefinitley. If this is your backup QB and he antes up a better HEALTHY WR I might go for it! See Mine!

If this is your backup QB and he antes up a better HEALTHY WR I might go for it! See Mine! It is my starting QB, although I'm thinking I might be going with Trent Green in some situations anyway. My starting QB situation is not good, and really this trade is not going to improve it in any way regardless. As for the WR, I agree, but I'm thinking he's not going to give up Brown. So it boils down to is my QB1 and WR3 worth more than upgrading my RB1?
sb305198 0 Posted September 12, 2007 This is a messy one to be sure, and I just counselled someone not to trade LJ for Reggie Bush, but this is a little different. I feel like your situation with the QB and the WR are ones where the first is screwed up anyway, and the 2nd is ok provided TJ doesn't get hurt any more. I would make the deal after a lot of thought (much like the earlier poster), because I truly think that LJ has a new contract, 400 carries the past 2 years, a mess at o line, no QB etc. have a gander at this and tell me what you'd do: http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=286417
surfnturf3g01 0 Posted September 12, 2007 Tough one...I'd say go for it... I'd rather have a #1 w/ a chip on his shoulder than one w/ no o-line and a lot of $$$ (nothing to prove)... please see mine: http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=286421
Patrick977 0 Posted September 12, 2007 Just wanted to give this one bump to see any other perspectives. If I do this the deal will probably go down today.
roroco 75 Posted September 12, 2007 With Hackett's injury and Galloway's struggling offense the receivers are really just bit players in fantasy - bye week fillers at best. You shouldn't really decide about the trade based on these guys. Alex Smith and Lienart are both very risky QBs with some potential. Neither one will be consistent or trustworthy week to week. They should also not help you make your decision. The trade really comes down to whether you Like SA or LJ more. I am more of a SA guy this year so I would do the trade if I was forced to make a decision, but if I were you, I would just ride with what you have because trades that offer no substantial added value or that fill no holes end up always biting you in the butt. HIR please http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=286630
