Don't really like you guys putting money on Nebraska and the over vs. USC. Booty will take our defense apart and I don't see our defense stopping them. Nebraska has all new starters on the defensive line. The only guy who has looked like a player is Suh on the line. Our DEs are way undersized to be playing against a team with bluechips. Nebraska lost every starter on the line from last year. Every one.

LBs are the strength of the defense. Octavien is a pure athlete and the other guys have been there for a couple years. The LBs are probably equal to the players on USC they'll be going up against.

But our secondary is going to get worked. The announcers are sure to mention Tierre Green being Ahman's cousin about 30 times. He doesn't have nearly the ability of Ahman.

Our best corner is an NFL prospect, Zach Bowman. He wasn't even starting last week due to injury - but still played better than the other guys. I said at thedanzone that Andre Jones (#25) is going to get burned and burned a lot. He got burned last year against USC. He got burned last week against Wake. I'm sure USC is game planning to abuse him all night. For a reason I cannot fathom, Nebraska puts this guy on an island in man coverage.

Last week, Wake had two deep balls thrown where there wasn't a defender within 15 yards. If their WR doesn't flat out drop the first deep ball, Wake probably wins the game.

Nebraska couldn't run the ball against Wake. Not going to be able to run against USC, either. Lucky has looked solid, but very pedestrian. I have no idea why Cody Glenn is not getting any PT, but he is Nebraska's power back. The guy that has been getting PT is Castille. When you see him, you'll immediately think Brandon Jacobs. Tall and 250. After only two games, he might already be our best back. Very athletic for his size and will definitely get work. But the line couldn't open any holes last week so I see Nebraska in for a long night on offense. The one thing I hope to see is Ganz come in at QB and run the option. He ran it once against Nevada in the opener and it looked very crisp. Nebraska would be insane not to throw a different look at USC and run the option a few times in the first quarter to see how the Trojans react. I can't believe Callahan didn't run it a few times against Wake in such a tight game.

Nebraska's best offensive player is Maurice Purify. 6'4" and athletic. Only guy to score in last year's game for Nebraska. Nebraska is deep at WR but outside of Purify, USC shouldn't have any matchup problems. Nunn is probably the second best WR and is notorious for dropping passes. The one thing that was painfully obvious last week was Keller's horrible accuracy. He overthrew 10 out patterns by 10 yards. I mean, he wasn't even close. He has a quick release when he can actually find a WR but holds the ball way too long in the pocket and reminds me of Culpepper like that. His release is nothing you've ever seen before. My brother says he throws like a girl. You'll see what he means when you see Nebraska's first possession.

For Nebraska to compete, they'll need basically everything fall their way. Need Keller to be perfect. Need to establish the run. Need no mistakes in a pretty average kicking game. Need to stop the run and need the secondary to not fall apart.

I'll be rooting for my boys but we lost by 18 last year and don't have nearly the same team. Lost our D line (including the 13th player taken in the draft), lost our best RB, lost a returning starter at QB. Combine that with the fact that USC returns 10 starters on a defense that shut us down when our offense was better than this year's version and the prospects don't look good.

Our D was winded in the second half against Wake with a lot of hands on hips. I really, really hope I'm wrong but see this game evolving into a disaster.

NCAAF 15-10-0 (+9.8units)

NFL 6-0-2 (+8.0 units)

CFL 3-2 (+0.8 Units)

I am on fire in the NFL ! As for NCAAF not so shabby thanks to alot of you all. Here are My "locked in" picks thus far:

2 Units

USC over 50.5 (odds makers are showing USC D lots of love. I think the allow a couple TD's pushing this one over)WINNER

Miami Ohio +7 (Dr. Bob) LOSER

Kansas -24.5 (Dr. Bob) WINNER

1 Unit

WVU -16.5 WINNER

Navy - 7 ( midshipmen return home angry and feeling disrespected after Rutgers AD and president both wrote letters of apology for thier fans behavior last friday night.)LOSER

Michigan -8 (Blowout in the big house) WINNER

Louisville -5.5 (against PB & Dr Bob but I just have a feeling Louisville wins by a TD)LOSER

WVU -3.5 2H WINNER

USC over hits :overhead: 4-3 on the day and 5-3 on the weekend but most importantly hit 2 out of 3 on my 2 units and turned a profit. Thats it for me for today, on to the NFL. See you guys in that thread.

Wow, Nebraska just sucks. Talk about one overhyped game. At least the game was close at kickoff.

I don't think we suck. I think USC is that elite. We'll be the biggest, fastest team in the Big 12 North this year and every team in the North has looked solid. But USC is just blue chip NFL prospects all over the field.

Agreed. USC could start their underclassmen and win 8-9 games at least. It's just incredible, when you consider they lose the Heisman-type players each and every year and simply move new guys in that roll over historically great schools such as Nebraska. There's no answer for speed.

You were spot on with your assessment of Nebraska pre-game, but I'm not so sure about your take on the rest of the Big XII North. Being the best there looks a bit like being tallest midget at the circus.

Speed? I watch this game after watching LSU the last two weeks and I still think USC is slow in comparison to the Tigers. LSU's defense is the best defense I have seen in college football in a long, long time. Guess the true test will be when they play Florida. I can't wait for that game. My guess is that LSU wins fairly easily in that one though.

Mizzou is looking tough. KU is undefeated. Colorado is certainly better than last year. KSU gave Auburn a good game (though Auburn has dropped off). Iowa State is the worst team in the north and they beat Iowa today.

I'm not naive enough to think anyone in the North is as good as UT or OU, but it's feasible that four or five teams from the North go to a bowl game - which isn't to be scoffed at, IMO.

USC has just as much speed on D as LSU does, and twice the speed on offense. LSU's offense just seems clunky and slow to me. The only real burner they seem to have is like 5'5'' and I don't see that as much of a threat. I think the way Florida will spread LSU out and use their speed (Harvin, etc) in space will give LSU alot of trouble. I wouldn't be surprised to see LSU win it still, because the Gator D is pretty soft, but the versatility of that spread offense could expose that LSU D that so far has only played VT-types that never have much of an offense.

I understand the LSU hasn't really played much considering V. Tech was over-rated. Just watching LSU's two games, their speed on defense was just amazing. Guess I watched the game tonight and didn't have the same feeling about USC's defense (or offense). USC does have a great, great offensive line. That was obvious. The RB's didn't look overly fast to me. Guess I will have to re-watch the game. I do know what you are saying about LSU's offense though about being clunky and slow. I just don't see how a team is going to get in the end zone twice against LSU assuming the offense doesn't turn the ball over.

Saturdays plays:

Virginia Tech -21: Enough messing around already, blowout in Blacksburg. Mobile playmaking QB fills in for inept Glennon PUSH

Washington State -25: Too much firepower for the weak Idaho, inaccurate QB for Idaho wont exploit WSU's average secondary

Penn State -34: Penn State had meeting this week expressing TD shoutouts on D. Buff might get one though, 49-10 LOSS

Louisville/Kentucky OVER 77: Thats right, 11 TDs and change. Id be amazed if this one stayed under 84 LOSS

Oklahoma -27 1st half: Fortysomethin to zero by halftime, then the dogs get called off WIN

Houston -15: Tulane is bad, Houston put up more offense than Oregon 2 weeks ago when they played in Eugene. WIN

Fresno State +17: Pat Hill seeking revenge on last years loss in Fresno, this one has absolutely been circled for the Bulldogs LOSS

USC/Nebraska OVER 50.5: Last year Booty played the year with a bad back, Nebraska was a scared road team. Great line. WIN

Texas Tech -28: ................. :shocking: 55-17 WIN

Looks like im on alot of favorites...

Good Luck!!

Added play:

Florida/Tenessee OVER 55.5. WIN

Good Luck!!

5-3 on the day so far, not too thrilled about it. Wazoo looks like they dont want to cover. The biggest plays were on Fla/Tenn OVER and USC/NEB OVER, fortunately both W's with the 3rd biggest play being Fresno State for a loss.

Teams to avoid for the rest of season

Oklahoma State

Fresno State

YTD: 34-12-2 with Wazoo remaining, surefire loss im thinking :dunno:

Im drunk somethin fierce! played Colorado +3 2nd half, not a good bet but fock it

Good LucK!!

I just think with Hester and Flynn and the rest that they don't seem to have "that guy" who they get in space and he's a real threat. I think Doucet can be explosive, but it seems that he disappears at times to me. Maybe lack of focus or lack of creative game-planning or whatever it is, but it just feels like LSU is too content to pound it up the gut with Hester for 2 yards and hope the D keeps getting 5 INTs a game. I don't think they'll be able to sit on the ball like that against the likes of USC or Florida that have so many weapons and such a mix of creative offense plays.

I'm an SEC guy (UK fan, sadly.) but I just don't think LSU can handle USC. The D looks amazing and fast right now when playing VT and other teams that don't really have anything you have to worry about getting behind you for 6. It's easy to take 5-star recruits and dominate a boring offense that simply runs off-tackles and curl routes, but it's a completely different monster when facing Pete Carroll and his 70-deep NFL style offense.

Good point. I think Urban and Florida will tell me if I am completely wrong about LSU's defense or if I'm right. Of course, the final exam probably will be USC.

Ive been on the fence as well, but USC is the best team in th nation period. I wanted to give the nod to LSU but V-tech showed today that they are not contenders. USC is scary when they want to be and now that Booty proved he can make the passes with the new WRs and the runing game is on track, everyone better watch out.

In a perfect world USC plays LSU fo rthe national title, id love it.

USC 27 LSU 20 my two pennies

NCAA 6-6-0 (-2.51 U)

CFL 0-1-0 (-2 U)

Ok, time to break the 3-3 trend I've been having in college so far and make some money. I'm avoiding 4 plays this weekend because philly is on the other side of them, and I dont need to deal with that in 4 games, just too much stress. So I'll stick with my plays that it seems like philly actually agreed with.

Miami(OH) +7 (1 U to win .91) (-1)

Miami(OH) ML +250 (1 U to win 2.5) (-1) - I don't know how everyone else is seeing this game, but I see it being decided by a late FG, and I want to ride the ML, think it will pay off today.

UNC -3 (1 U to win .91) (-1) - UVa isn't as good as ECU, and they may not even be as good as JMU, we shall see.

BC +6.5 (1 U to win .91) - (=.91) This one should be close, since it's a possible preview of ACC Championship.

UCLA -16 (1 U to win .91) (-1) - No idea about this game, but everything I've read seems to say UCLA in a blowout, let's hope so.

3 Team Parlay (1 U to win 6) - UCLA -16, Ky +5.5, Miami(OH) +7 (-1)

Lots of small plays today, but hopefully enough to turn me back to the positive side. As long as my parlay hits im up minimum of 4.8 U, so thats what I'm gonna be watching, GL everyone.

Wow, at least I didn't go 3-3 this week, careful what you ask for, I guess. 1-5, horrible start to the day, pounded the BC ML out of frustration as only way to save my roll, and it worked, good for my roll, but won't count in my record, didn't have time to post it.

NCAA 7-11-0 (-6.6U)

Looked horrible in morning...ended up winning most of late plays with a 14-8-2 record... +4.5 units. I didn't do much analysis last night as my wife dragged me out and made picks based off of my gut feel. I am not satisfied with this showing and apologize to those who followed my really crappy earlier picks. Fortunately, my later picks brought me above water... Better results next time.

Best reasoning I've seen in a while, but I am going against you on this one. Michigan was obviously stunned by App State, and with their BCS hopes over and all the media around campus asking what happened, it was no surprise to me that they had a poor week of practice and got their butt whupped by Oregon. Well, now they already knew that they are out of the BCS, and they are just plain angry. I think that they are a good team and will play like one finally. Notre Dame on the other hand is just bad, really nothing to like at all here. Their D is bad, and their offense hasn't scored in 2 games. I look for that trend to continue and they will get spanked in the Big House. The line should be 14, I will take Michigan -7.5. 3 units.

Winner

My other major play is 2 units on USC -9.5 over Nebraska. After a very ordinary 1st game, USC got the week off to listen to all the talk on how LSU is better than them with their easy win over VaTech (overated). Give Pete Carroll 2 weeks to prepare, and the most talented team in the nation is very hungry to show what they have, no way they don't show up ready to play. Nebraska is on its way back to national prominence, but they are not there yet. USC is the best team in the country, they roll easily in this one. USC -9.5 2 units winner

1 unit plays

North Carolina -3.5 vs Virgina....North Carolina gave a very good BC squad all they could handle for a while, they look much improved, and are at home. loser

Iowa St +17.5 vs Iowa...as others have commented, this is a rivalry game that rarely is decided by this many points, so take the points. winner

Pitt +11 at Mich St...Pitt is only seeing 30% of the action and the line has jumped to 11, take the extra points to the bank. winner

Washington +4 vs. Ohio State...Washington is flying high after taking down Boise St, has a mobile QB, and Ohio St has to travel. Public is about 50-50 on this game, like the points at home. loser

Arkansas +3 at Alabama...the only reason Alabama is favored is because of the press that Nick Saban is getting, Arkansas runs all over them again this year. Push

BC +6.5 at Georgia Tech...I think BC is the real deal, their QB Ryan will be playing on Sundays, and they are on a roll. They will keep it within the number. Winner

Colorado +4.5 vs. FSU...FSU has showed nothing this year, Colorado looks to be improved, is at home, and only about 20% of the public is on them, looks very positive for them. loser

Stanford -7.5 vs San Jose St...Stanford was very much in the game against UCLA two weeks ago, and Jim Harbaugh is a very good coach. He will have them ready to play in a game where they have the better talent. winner

I usually don't post my picks, but thought I would give it a try. I get lots of good info off this board, and have done well the first two weeks, but I know, rats ass since they were not posted. So, year to date posted: 0-0-0

Good luck to all this weekend.

A respectable 6-3-1, up 6 units! 2-0 on 2 unit plays or higher.
