Running Back Advice...help!

Recommended Posts

Here's my dilemna/issue...my running backs are -

1. Steven Jackson (failed me for the first two weeks but definite keeper and hopefully will pick up steam just like last year).

2. Maurice Jones Drew (also failing me)

3. Julius Jones (bench) - a bust due to Marion Barber

4. Tatum Bell (bench) - a bust with Kevin Jones returning (possibly)

Sammy Morris and Deshawn Wynn are both available in my league and I have a #5 waiver order so I could likely get one of them (I might lean toward Sammy Morris because Vernan Morency is due back for the Packers sometime). While they're both #2 backs just like Julius Jones and Tatum Bell...would you drop either of those two in favor of one of the new guys? I'm not sure but there is a rumor that MJD may be hurt or got Xrays or something so now I'm in more trouble. I'm 0-2 yet have the 4th highest point total and am going up against the #1 team...in other words I'm likely to fall to 0-3 before playing easier opponents and starting a winning record. I need better running backs. I'm willing to help you out too if you need it.

I think you try to get wynn for this week and then just hope you get some production out of him against San Diego. If not you might try to package a steven jackson deal for say mcgahee and lamont jordan type deal. I too am a jackson owner and am getting 2 for one deals b/c I too need depth. Good luck!

I would try to get Wynn. I'm not sure what's the deal with Jones-Drew. But Wynn is the move you should make

Thanks for answering mine

Goodluck!!

It looks like Owen Daniels is gone...haha. I'll go for Wynn...I'm a little surprised more people don't think Sammie Morris might be a better choice with Vernand Morency coming back to take the starting position back, and the Patriots offense scoring on everyone...haha. I'll go for Wynn though...got nothing else to lose now.

Pick up Wynn...... I think you might get lucky. But, I agree with others....don't drop any of your RBs, loose someone else if you can stand it. Thanks for answering mine.

You may want to consider trading one of your 3 lesser RBs with one of your starting WRs, to get an upgrade at RB. Just a thought. You'd still have BMarsh, to fill your 3rd WR spot. Maybe shoot for a Lynch, poor week 3, or Duece. Take a look at other guys rosters see who has a fit with you.

Spend your waiver on Wynn if you can, but do not drop any of your RB. I am sure you have some bench WRs that you could drop to get Wynn, right?

Thanks for helping me.

In my opinion, Wynn is garbage. Brandon Jackson will get carries and when Morency comes back, he'll be their main back.

I would try to make a trade. You have NE Defense and Vince Young on the bench playing behind the Bears D and Tom Brady. Those are two quality positions that will probably never play on your team, except in a bye week. I would try to swing a trade with someone who needs a D or QB, package one of those together with a WR, where you also have decent depth, to get a solid RB.

I have to agree about making a trade. This guy said it well, deal from your strength (D and QB) and try to get a good RB. I don't see any way Jackson or Jones-Drew can be moved right now, and you've spent a high pick on both, so you've basically got to ride it out. Please see mine:

Does anyone have an impression of Sammy Morris...it seems the popular opinion is to get Wynn, although I agree with some of the concerns with Jackson and Morency. Right now I've offered a trade of Tatum Bell and DeMeco Ryans to get Marshaun Lynch, but I haven't heard anything. I've also set up to get Wynn off waivers and drop Owen Daniels. I'll obviously keep looking for trades though.

Don't grip too much. It's too early to drop MJD and Jax. I'd try to package the other two and see if you can get a servicable backup. My league is a 12 man league and everyone is gripping for more WRs. If your league is like that then maybe you can package a RB4 and a WR for a better RB3.... But probably wait at least till the bye weeks start when you RBs have more value. Wynne is most likely fools gold. Take away one run and he's sub 2 yards per carry. Lets see if he does it two weeks in a row...
