phillybear 366 Posted October 26, 2007 CFL YTD: 34-23; +27.7 units Well, I learned that I can't even talk about the college games when in progress, as I mush them. God, I'm slumping in college football; what a focking nightmare. But I went 2-1 in the CFL last week, so let's try it again, as we head into the second to the last weekend of the regular season... Friday (6:35 PM EST) British Columbia (-12.5) for 3 units LOSER Adding: British Columbia 2nd H (-5.5) for 3 units LOSER (9:35 PM EST) Edmonton (+3.5) for 3 units Adding: Edmonton 2nd H (+1) for 3 units BC clinches their division with a win today. Hamilton is playing out the string, with nothing to prove. Hamilton's best player RB Jesse Lumsden is still out with an injury. BC should take care of business vs a disinterested opponent. Nothing too complicated here; I'm taking the best CFL team to beat the worst. Edmonton is still alive in the playoff chase, and need two wins and two lossed by Montreal to squeak in. They must have been secretly excited to hear that star QB Anthony Cavillo left Montreal indefinitely to be with his sick wife. They have a realistic chance to make it, but need to start that chase with a win tonight. Sask is locked into the 2nd place slot in the standings, and have begun to rest starters, as they bench some key players in the 2nd half last week. They could theoretically catch BC for the division with 2 wins and two BC losses, but with BC playing lowly Hamilton tonight, they probably will have clinched by the time the Sask kicks off 3 hours later. But Edmonton is desperate tonight, and I'll take the live home dog. Good luck to all. Especially me.
Grind 0 Posted October 26, 2007 I think this guy is a complete crackpot, that Ohio State pick last week was horrible even had they covered. Marshall this week? Marshall should lay -9 to absolutely no one, even if somehow they do cover. Good luck!! Good minds think alike...well at least your mind is good. I did however think that Ohio State pick last week was absolutely awful and I think I posted that opinion. Saw Marshall was favored this week and figured it was a misprint in the paper. How Marshall can be favored against anyone is a joke.
EAwer 1 Posted October 26, 2007 not that anyone gives a ######, but i was forced to handicap for tomorrow since PB not posting his picks. heres my card, only 3 multi unit games, fresno (tonight) indiana, and buffalo. phillybear 366 Posted October 26, 2007 Good minds think alike...well at least your mind is good. I did however think that Ohio State pick last week was absolutely awful and I think I posted that opinion. Ohio St was the right side in that game. Mich St only scored 3 points with their offense. Ohio St was covering and cruising along until they allowed the Mich St defense to score two gift TDs, with is basically two fluke plays. Mich St wasn't competitive stat wise, and should have lost by 30+ points, but somehow covered. I guess I'm chalking up that game to this weird year.
beefy1 0 Posted October 26, 2007 Hey philly, at some point tomorrow morning can you post the public percentages? Sorry to hear you won't share your wisdom w/us anymore. That's really sad! I have nowhere near the grasp that you do on obscure teams that aren't nationally known. I may have to quit betting also. You have won me a bunch or moola over the years and I like to compare my picks w/ yours and cancel contradictory games, that alone has saved me at least 20 units this year. Hope to see ya back soon buddy, and if you ever come to NY I owe ya a drink or thirty-five. Tonight I'm fading the public and going with Fresno. Also I just learned that Fresno's backup QB and I have the same name so irony hopefully is on my side.
Yer mom 2 Posted October 26, 2007 The over could end up being the best play on the board even with out beaniemaker (Johnson) Id be surprised to see anything less then 70 to be honest. Hmmmm..... Good luck!! Bump for GR, incase you missed it Good luck!!
GiantsRule 0 Posted October 26, 2007 Bump for GR, incase you missed it Good luck!! Thanks buddy! Added Boise State QB total pass attempts Over 34.5 (-135) Risky because he hasn't passed as much as you'd think for a WAC powerhouse (and had 35 passes on the nose in two games). Also, when a line tends to soar in one direction, the other side wins. This opened at -115, I got it at -135, it's now at -145. Even the total bumped up - Now at 64.5. *GULP* Good luck to all! phillybear 366 Posted October 26, 2007 BC up 17-8 at the half. Hamilton's starting QB Casey Printers broke a finger and is probably out for the game.
phillybear 366 Posted October 27, 2007 BC up 17-8 at the half. Hamilton's starting QB Casey Printers broke a finger and is probably out for the game. Since Hamilton doesn't really have any player makers on offense right now because of injuries, taking British Columbia 2nd H (-5.5) for 3 units
phillybear 366 Posted October 27, 2007 Hamilton scores a TD with :32 left and backdoors the game 27-19. No focking luck.
GiantsRule 0 Posted October 27, 2007 It's official: I wasn't meant to win money. I have the over, I get 28 points in the first quarter with plenty of time left and only 3 points in the 2nd quarter. My second bet, pass attempts, has no shot because I need 20 more pass attempts by Tharp in a game he's winning with an unstoppable run game. Only thing I actually "lucked out" on was I had my finger on the first half over (32) and decided it was overkill. Now, I'm only seething instead of livid. The bookies always win in the end. :wall:
phillybear 366 Posted October 27, 2007 Edmonton jumped to a 13-0 lead, only to see Saskatchewan take a 14-13 lead into halftime. The comeback was keyed by a 70 yard fumble return for a TD. Yet, Edmonton has been more impressive in the 1st half, and since Sask is officially locked into hosting a first round home game vs Calgary, Sask is playing with no emotion and no urgency. On the other hand, Edmonton's season is on the line. Stephen Lefors is moving the Edmonton offense up and down the field, but the Eskimos are unlucky to only have 13 points so far. Last year, I noticed that at the end of the year, more desperate teams covered in the CFL, and I will give it another shot. Besides Marcus Crandall, the QB tonight for Sask, isn't showing much. Adding Edmonton 2nd H (+1) for 3 units
phillybear 366 Posted October 27, 2007 Underdog Edmonton jumps back out front 27-14 early 3rd quarter. I really need this game for my sanity.

The.Damned 0 Posted October 27, 2007 It has been 3 weeks since my last post. Since the beginning of the season I have dropped 35 units. I did it by chasing bets. I am done with that, I hope. I was ok first 2 weeks, until I got greedy. Took time off and now am back. Pressing restart button..... NCAA 0-0 +0 Units My picks for the week by time. Ones I am for sure betting are will be "*". WV -6 (Rutgers beat USF and USF beat WV. Here is the completion of round robin hell.) Oregon -3 * Oregon/USC over 59.5 if not raining. Minnesota +23 (Michigan is good at not covering against weak teams, but am holding off as they seem hell bent on crushing people) Rice +9 * (Rice has played some decent games lately and beat So Miss, Marshall lost to them) Utah -5.5 Stanford +13.5 (on a tear against big favorites) Tenn -3 (fading this bet as I type, I just feel SC is falling off) Penn ST 3.5 (Ohio St is not a number 1 team in my eyes, here is there first chance to prove me wrong) Houston -5.5 * (homer pick, but think RIles is really going to have them going to win CUSA))
Yer mom 2 Posted October 27, 2007 Guess I'm not to bad after all! Nice work ghost, its not easy to nail side and total in the same game When I left the house the score was 14-14 in the first quarter, and come home to see a 34-21 final? WTF?? Weird stuff this year. Good luck!!
Hurricane Ditka 0 Posted October 27, 2007 YTD NCAA 93-75-4 (-8.55 units) Well my overall year has not went too great. Went for the big score last week, and lost. Oh well. I am not quitting though: 3 units each Rutgers +6.5 WV -6.5 (Hedged due to injuries Rutgers) Oregon -2.5 Washington -4 UCON/South Florida over 44 Florida -7 Kansas -3 Arizona State -3 8 units Ohio State -3.
ROCKET 0 Posted October 27, 2007 Not a lot to get excited about today IMO. I do like getting USC against anyone, anywhere as a dog. Rutgers +6.5 USC +3 UNC +5 I might roll with Joe Pa tonight if today isn't a disaster. It'd only make sense for OSU to lose and BC to got to #

ToledoLurch 0 Posted October 27, 2007 Two factors going for me today... #1 - I am home on a Saturday afternoon for the first time in a while, so I will be playing a lot of games. #2 - With my recent streak, I am bumping my units up a bit. Here are my early plays. Indiana +9 for 1.2 units - loser Ball St +14 for 1.2 units - winner Colorado +14 for 2.5 units - winner Michigan St -3 for 1.2 units - loser Florida Int +41 for 1.2 units West Virginia/Rutgers under 57 for 1.2 units - winner Miss St/Kentucky 1st half over 31 for 1.2 units - loser adding at 2:50pm: Oregon -3 for 2.5 units La Tech -3 for 1.2 units Washington -4 for 1.2 units Nebraska +21 for 2.5 units adding at 3:55pm Florida Atlantic -6 for 2.5 units Virginia -3 for 1.2 units Rice +9 for 1.2 units adding 6-7pm BGSU -7 for 1.2 units Kansas -3 for 2.5 units UCLA -6 for 5 units Stanford +14 for 2.5 units Ohio State -3 for 2.5 units Duke +17.5 for 1.2 units So Carolina +3 for 1.2 units Good luck all

Grind 0 Posted October 27, 2007 Is anyone on WV hurt, seems like alot of you are on the Rutgers bandwagon after last week. TIA I like WV in this game. One of only two games I am most likely playing today. Ohio State being the other. I watched the Rutgers/SF game and came away with one conclusion. The SF coach is awful at in game management. Looks to me he is best suited at throwing fits on the sideline. Rutgers did the exact same thing the entire second half (blitz up the middle) and SF did nothing to counter the pressure. No roll outs. No screens. Nothing. Just sat back and let Rutgers beat up the QB. I think (1) WV is better then Rutgers and (2) WV is much better coached in comparison to SF. Taking that a step further, when So Fla put pressure on Rutgers early by running wide, the KNights had some trouble with it. It opened up the RU defense considerably, and gave USF some nice quick hits up the middle. West Va has ball security issues in every big game it seems, but their speed, quickness and commitment to the run will be too much for my beloved Knights. The reason I stayed away from this game is the WVU defense, which is pathetic against any opponent with reasonable size and speed. They feast on the lesser teams on their schedule, but they can't stop anyone playing with the same caliber athletes.

GridIronAssassin#1 0 Posted October 27, 2007 Colorado was one of my strongest plays of the day. I thought the line should have been around -3 not -14. Also, it looks like Tech threw a pick... Yep, I didn't look too deep, I just threw Tech ML on 3 different bets trying to make more money on each bet. I should've read the thread a little more closely before blindly taking Texas Tech. Good Luck.
