Patriotsfatboy1 1,433 Posted November 4, 2007 I did. My nephew just had one playing Mites last week. Makes you think twice about putting them back in the game. I found the stat on the % of HS players that get a concussion each season (5-47%) a little too wide of a spread. I would think that we could spend a little of that wasted dough that we use to analyze the impact of cow poop on ozone for this sort of thing to get an actual number. p.man 7 Posted November 4, 2007 Last week we had a 13 year old 8th grade defensive player lose all feeling below the waist after being hit from behind on a reverse play. The rescue squad had to pull on the field to carry him away. Because they had to take every precaution it took them over 30 minutes to get him off the field. The latest news is that he has started to get some feeling back into his feet and legs but he is still in the hospital.

Middawg 0 Posted November 5, 2007 That kid they had on with the concussions in back to back weeks that was in assisted living was pretty sad. I blame the coach 100x over, Using a helmet from 1981?????? Come on....thats barely a step up from the leather variety of yesteryear.
wiffleball 4,797 Posted November 5, 2007 The part about finding out when your helmet was made and whether it was reconditionied was probably the most interesting. I don't think a lot of parents ask about that kind of thing. And, most numbnutz coaches are more worried abou8t having enough helmets than when they were made. I've got a friend who's a coach in a league here. Gonna be talking to him about that over a few
TylerRoseFan 16 Posted November 6, 2007 Soccer game this Saturday. I'm opposing head coach. Ball going out of bounds. One player on the other team goes for the save about 5 feet from me. As he spun around to kick the ball he fell down and landed on his hand. I heard a very feint "ptch". Looked down and his right wrist is at a 90 degree angle. Just a freak accident. Broke it in two places.
