Fumbleweed 545 Posted June 4, 2008 Fantasy King 4.12 Derek Anderson, QB CLE 9.01 Jake Delhomme, QB CAR 1.01 LaDainian Tomlinson, RB SDC 5.01 Julius Jones, RB SEA 7.01 Matt Forte, RB CHI 10.12 Ricky Williams, RB MIA 2.12 TJ Houshmanzadeh, WR CIN 3.01 Marques Colston, WR NOS 6.12 Tony Gonzalez, WR/TE KCC 8.12 Donte Stallworth, WR CLE 11.01 Bryant Johnson, WR SFO 12.12 Darren Sproles, RB SDC This is a stronger team than some have given it credit for, I think, provided that a second running back emerges who can/will compliment Tomlinson. Like many others, I don't have Anderson ranked this high and probably would have drafted Quinn late just in case he regresses and gets replaced, but with 22 picks between 5.01 and 6.12, FK needed to grab his QB and that's what he did. The receivers are solid...I don't think either top wide out will finish in the top seven personally, but should score consistently enough to compliment Tomlinson's better games. I like the Stallworth pick...Joe Jurevicius seems to be about ready for retirement and I think Stallworth will take over the #2 role on the Browns and is being undervalued. Tomlinson is a good pillar to build upon...I think FK has done an adequate job of giving him help here, but the #2 RB spot could be a thorn in this team's side as things progress. Vikings4ever 3.02 Tony Romo, QB DAL 11.02 Aaron Rodgers, QB GBP 1.02 Adrian Peterson, RB MIN 2.11 Maurice Jones-Drew, RB JAX 7.02 Rashard Mendenhall, RB PIT 9.02 Justin Fargas, RB OAK 4.11 Roy Williams, WR DET 5.02 Greg Jennings, WR GBP 6.11 Chris Chambers, WR SDC 8.11 Chris Cooley, WR/TE WAS 10.11 Vincent Jackson, WR SDC 12.11 DJ Hackett, WR CAR I'd be pretty pleased to have this team for the most part. The trio of Romo, Peterson, and Jones-Drew is awfully good and they should get enough points some weeks to compete with entire opposing teams all on their own. That's just a really good trio to march out there every week as each guy is more than capable of having a huge game. I don't like Roy Williams a whole lot (I have Calvin Johnson ranked higher), but I do like Chambers as a prime sleeper and Jennings could do well with Rodgers....that's just an unknown right now. In short, I think this team is one of the weaker teams at WR, but with such explosive potential at the top of the lineup, I'm not sure how much that really matters. Nearly every starter is on the upside of their career...that's something I think you look for in building a title-contending team. robb 7.03 Jay Cutler, QB DEN 10.10 Trent Edwards, QB BUF 1.03 Steven Jackson, RB STL 4.10 Rudi Johnson, RB CIN 6.10 Cedric Benson, RB CHI 9.03 Felix Jones, RB DAL 2.10 Andre Johnson, WR HOU 3.03 Steve Smith, WR CAR 5.03 Lee Evans, WR BUF 8.10 Vernon Davis, WR/TE SFO 11.03 Sidney Rice, WR MIN 12.10 Demetrius Williams, WR BAL This is a tremendous receiving team that also happens to have a stud running back to anchor it. Lee Evans is a poor choice as a #2 WR, but he's ideal as a #3 as you can handle his inconsistency without difficulty in that role. When Evans has a big week, this team could be darn near unbeatable as Johnson and Smith will be very good most weeks and Jackson should bring forth stud numbers every time out. The question mark for robb is the same question mark that existed for FK...that is, is a second running back going to emerge that can compliment Jackson. Many a good team otherwise has been brought down over the years by never finding a second running back that produced week in and week out. I don't know if Rudi or Benson is capable at this point of being that guy. I'm also not big on the QBs on this team as guys you can depend on, but Cutler certainly has potential to be. Overall, this team is imperfect as are all the teams, but the WR trio makes me think this might be one of the league's better teams also starting out. Da Bomb 8.09 Matt Leinart, QB ARI 10.09 Jon Kitna, QB DET 11.04 Alex Smith, QB SFO 1.04 Brian Westbrook, RB PHI 5.04 LenDale White, RB TEN 7.04 Ahman Green, RB GBP 9.04 Michael Pittman, RB DEN 2.09 Larry Fitzgerald, WR ARI 3.04 Brandon Marshall, WR DEN 4.09 Calvin Johnson, WR DET 6.09 Donald Driver, WR GBP 12.09 Todd Heap, WR/TE BAL Well, if you like robb's team, there's a good chance you'll like this team as well as they were built in such a similar fashion. Solid quartet of receivers....stud running back....questionable QB and second running backs. It's like robb's squad, part two. I think Da Bomb would be the first to say that he missed out on some better QB choices and I think he's going to be frustrated with the production of these two on a regular basis. But, much like robb, he's going to score monster points at WR and I think Calvin Johnson put up #2 WR numbers as opposed to #3 numbers...so the sky's the limit for a very talented trio all of whom are on the upside of their careers. I'm really big on that and Bomb has nailed that aspect of team building here. I don't think Ahman Green is going to hold up this year, so I think a lot of this team's success hinges on LenDale White....he may be the key to the team's success in the end as with a weak QB, this team needs a solid, dependable second runner. remote controller 4.08 Drew Brees, QB NOS 10.08 Jason Campbell, QB WAS 1.05 Joseph Addai, RB IND 3.05 Edgerrin James, RB ARI 6.08 DeAngelo Williams, RB CAR 8.08 Chris Johnson, RB TEN 12.08 Pierre Thomas, RB NOS 2.08 Braylon Edwards, WR CLE 5.05 Dwayne Bowe, WR KCC 7.05 Kevin Curtis, WR PHI 9.05 Dallas Clark, WR/TE IND 11.05 Reggie Williams, WR JAX I've been silent about this so far, but I think remote was one pick away from having a truly great team. I thought he stole Brees in the late fourth and I love his wide receivers...again, three guys on the upsides of their careers with enormous potential to shine in 2008. The pick I didn't like was the James pick as I thought Maroney, Brown, Parker, and/or Jacobs all would have been better choices than the aging James. If Edgerrin turns out to have one more solid year left in him, I'll be the first to come in and proclaim RC to be a genius. If he had chosen Maroney at 3.05, I would declare this to be almost a perfect team. I really love the Brees pick and the wide outs and Addai is as steady as they come. If James does indeed come around and play with fire and resurgence (ala Jamal Lewis last year), this could be the very best team in this mock league. Jetdoc 6.07 Donovan McNabb, QB PHI 10.07 Vince Young, QB TEN 2.07 Reggie Bush, RB NOS 3.06 Ronnie Brown, RB MIA 4.07 Thomas Jones, RB NYJ 11.06 Leon Washington, RB NYJ 1.06 Randy Moss, WR NEP 5.06 Roddy White, WR ATL 7.06 Jerricho Cotchery, WR NYJ 8.07 Joey Galloway, WR TBB 9.06 Santana Moss, WR WAS 12.07 Darrell Jackson, WR DEN This isn't one of my favorite teams, but I think that's likely because I don't trust Randy Moss to stay motivated this year and I don't trust Reggie Bush to figure out how an NFL running back runs the ball effectively without massive holes to run through. I think McNabb could have a very solid bounce-back year at QB, so I liked that pick and I also think Ronnie Brown may do a lot better than some might think...he looked explosive last year and has an underrated line to run behind. Yes, the knee is going to limit his return to form, but not to the extent, I think, that some have said it might. Roddy White proved that he is a big-time WR last year, but who is going to get him the ball? I think Atlanta is in for a rough transition year and White may suffer because of it. Not much upside with Galloway, Moss, or Jackson, but all are proven vets and could fill in nicely with the right matchups. Thomas Jones might also be o.k. in a good matchup. Bottom line for me here is that Jet will have to be a good manager to make this a top team. He'll have to analyze matchups wisely and get the most out of a team that lacks firepower outside of Moss (assuming he doesn't become lackadaisical). Fumbleweed 1.07 Tom Brady, QB NEP 6.06 Carson Palmer, QB CIN 3.07 Laurence Maroney, RB NEP 4.06 Earnest Graham, RB TBB 8.06 Selvin Young, RB DEN 9.07 Chris Brown, RB HOU 10.06 Ryan Torain, RB DEN 2.06 Terrell Owens, WR DAL 5.07 Jason Witten, WR/TE DAL 7.07 Laverneous Coles, WR NYJ 11.07 Isaac Bruce, WR SFO 12.06 Jabar Gaffney, WR NEP I think my team will do well this year, if and only if Tom Brady and Terrell Owens can produce at least 75% and 85% respectively of the output they generated in 2007. I like the trio of Maroney, Graham, and Young at RB, but they aren't going to set the world on fire...neither will the other receivers that are flanking Owens. If this were a real team, I'd be looking to possibly trade Brady or Palmer at this point...but probably for another WR as opposed to a RB as some have suggested. If I could deal Brady for a receiver of Braylon Edwards/Reggie Wayne ability, that would be ideal with Palmer in the fold. If not, Palmer for a solid wideout would also be o.k. Pound for pound, this should be the best team in the league at the QB and #1 WR slots combined...but the upside of the other receivers is limited and Maroney and Graham aren't home run hitters, so again, it's up to Brady and Owens to be...well, Brady and Owens. kutulu 8.05 David Garrard, QB JAX 1.08 Marshawn Lynch, RB BUF 2.05 Jamal Lewis, RB CLE 5.08 Jonathan Stewart, RB CAR 6.05 Kevin Smith, RB DET 10.05 Ahmad Bradshaw, RB NYG 11.08 Ray Rice, RB BAL 12.05 Sammy Morris, RB NEP 3.08 Plaxico Burress, WR NYG 4.05 Wes Welker, WR NEP 7.08 Bobby Engram, WR SEA 9.08 Jerry Porter, WR JAX I actually liked the Marshawn Lynch pick quite a bit provided he doesn't get in trouble for the hit and run incident in Buffalo. After that, however, there were some players picked that I wasn't as fond of, but can't really speak out against anyone terribly. With Stewart and Kevin Smith both on the team, it would appear likely that one of the two should emerge as a potential #2 RB by midseason, which would be perfect timing if Jamal Lewis starts to slow down at some point ( a very real possibility). So, the chemistry of the team in terms of players coming on while others fall back appears to be solid. I like Wes Welker as an ideal #2 WR, but WR depth is a bit of an issue with this team and kutulu desparately needs Engram to have another year like last year to keep this group competitive (although, in a "real" league, #3 wide receivers are the easiest free agents to find, so maybe it's really no big deal). This team may not have enough "studs" to be a big-time contender...but I think they're more solid than some of you have said they would be. Shane Falco 2.04 Peyton Manning, QB IND 10.04 Matt Schaub, QB HOU 1.09 Marion Barber III, RB DAL 3.09 Willie Parker, RB PIT 4.04 Darren McFadden, RB OAK 9.09 Deuce McAllister, RB NOS 12.04 Kenny Watson, RB CIN 5.09 Marvin Harrison, WR IND 6.04 Hines Ward, WR PIT 7.09 Javon Walker, WR OAK 8.04 Nate Burleson, WR SEA 11.09 Ted Ginn, WR MIA I like this team a lot from the middle up....in other words, I think Manning/Barber/Parker/McFadden was a wonderful way to start off a draft. But, this receiving corps scares me to death. The top three wide receivers are all on the downsides of their careers and Javon Walker has a lot to prove in terms of being anything close to a decent WR again. I think 80% of this team's points initially may come from the QB and RB positions and I think those first four picks are capable of doing some big things, but that's a lot of pressure on them. Marvin Harrison is the real wild card here. If Harrison can be a borderline #1/#2 WR in fantasy football in 2008, this team is going to be pretty good. But, if he can't pull it together and rebound, this team needs help at the WR position to compete with some very superior units on other teams. Another if is that "if" Darren McFadden explodes in Oakland like Peterson in Minny last year, the sky is the limit for this team. A lot of "ifs" here, but Manning and Barber are not iffy...they're rock steady and thus a good foundation for the other question marks that exist. NAn 5.10 Matt Hasslebeck, QB SEA 11.10 Jeff Garcia, QB TBB 1.10 Clinton Portis, RB WAS 2.03 Ryan Grant, RB GBP 6.03 Fred Taylor, RB JAX 9.10 Jerrious Norwood, RB ATL 12.03 Ladell Betts, RB WAS 3.10 Torry Holt, WR STL 4.03 Santonio Holmes, WR PIT 7.10 Bernard Berrian, WR MIN 8.03 Anthony Gonzalez, WR IND 10.03 Patrick Crayton, WR DAL I'm not too excited about this group, but it isn't because NAn didn't make reasonable selections or timed his picks poorly. It's mostly just about differences in opinion with respect to personnel. I think Portis has a lot of miles on him given his smallish size and could begin to break down sooner than later...and I also think Ryan Grant is going to be facing a lot of eight-man fronts this year initially. Torry Holt is a "downside" guy with respect to his career and Matt Hasselbeck has nobody to throw to, potentially limiting his productivity. I do like Santonio Holmes this year and I think Anthony Gonzalez has got some real potential, too, so this team may surprise in those spots. In reality, I think NAn's drafting was again just fine....in looking at it closely, it appears to be my concerns about his top two RBs that keep me from feeling good about the team overall. JScott 6.02 Ben Rothlisberger, QB PIT 7.11 Marc Bulger, QB STL 1.11 Frank Gore, RB SFO 3.11 Brandon Jacobs, RB NYG 4.02 Michael Turner, RB ATL 8.02 Cadillac Williams, RB TBB 12.02 DeShaun Foster, RB SFO 2.02 Reggie Wayne, WR IND 5.11 Antonio Gates, WR/TE SDC 9.11 Derrick Mason, WR BAL 10.02 Deion Branch, WR SEA 11.11 Roydell Williams, WR TEN Love the first three running back selections for this team. That RB trio is the league's best in terms of depth, in my opinion, and it should allow JScott to make it through the bye weeks with a solid duo getting out there every single time. I liked the pick of Roethlisberger and also Reggie Wayne and I think Gates was taken at the right time as well. This team may be my favorite, actually, in terms of the starting six players...where I begin to get a bit fuzzy has to do with the depth. I thought Cadillac and Branch were somewhat wasted picks given their statuses and I thought Roydell Williams was a curious choice given some other choices that were there at that time. Still, like I said, this may be my favorite team in terms of a starting six....I just don't know how well equipped they are for injuries given that there's very little depth at WR and Cadillac may never see the field in '08. This RB trio, though, is my favorite. Clash of the Titans 7.12 Eli Manning, QB NYG 10.01 Philip Rivers, QB SDC 1.12 Larry Johnson, RB KCC 2.01 Willis McGahee, RB BAL 6.01 Travis Henry, RB DEN 8.01 Chester Taylor, RB MIN 12.01 Kevin Jones, RB DET 3.12 Chad Johnson, WR CIN 4.01 Anquan Boldin, WR ARI 5.12 Kellen Winslow Jr, WR/TE CLE 9.12 Reggie Brown, WR PHI 11.12 Ronald Curry, WR OAK Some have stated that this is their favorite team, and while I wouldn't go that far, I do like several elements of the team that Clash has put together. For starters, the RB duo of Johnson and McGahee should yield 600+ carries and give the team a consistent element in terms of putting up points on a weekly basis. I don't know that either will put up "explosive" totals, however, and that means that both are really ideal #2 guys. Clash should have been reading up on Travis Henry prior to that pick as the signs have been on the wall for the past two weeks that Henry was likely a goner in Denver...as such, it's kind of a wasted pick. Chad Johnson and Anquan Boldin have also been disgruntled this offseason and as such, there's risk there. I really like the depth Clash has at QB and WR overall, though, and with Adrian Peterson's upright running style, I would not be surprised if Chester Taylor got a few starts in Minnesota this year. If Chad Johnson and Anquan Bolidn focus on football this year, this team should do well. Anything short of that, though, and I question who the stud on this team would be. Every team needs at least one.
remote controller 143 Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks Fumble for the input. I appreciate the way you do things! I do feel strongly Edge is the pick between he and Maroney, and that is why they play the games. The 4 you mentioned didn't beat Edge last year, so I really see no reason why they will this year. We will know in one year. Maroney really did come on at the end of the season, but I question if that had more to do with Morris getting hurt than anything else. One thing for certain is that the Pats will put up some points and hopefully Maroney can carve some off for you! Thanks again, an I am ready for the "No Hassle" June Mock! Let's roll! My team really sucked last year and I need to redeem myself!

Da Bomb 0 Posted June 4, 2008 If I could deal Brady for a receiver of Braylon Edwards/Reggie Wayne ability, that would be ideal with Palmer in the fold. what about someone of larry fitzgerald's ability, eh? lets say i throw in Smith for Bruce to keep it realistic. Bomb QB - Brady, Leinart, Kitna RB - Westy, Lendale, Ahman, Pittman WR - Marshall, Calvin, Driver, Heap, Bruce Fumble QB - Palmer, A Smith RB - Maroney, Graham, Selvin, C Brown, Torain WR - TO, Fitz, Witten, Coles, Gaffney thats what those two teams would be. anyones thoughts on those two teams, compared to what either of us has now? im not sure about mine. it makes it probably a more well rounded team, and i probably lose less from fitz to driver/heap than i gain from my qb mess to brady. as for fumble, i think its a slam dunk, with a huge gain from coles to fitz covering the loss from brady to palmer. all of that being said.... if this is indeed the move you'd make, doesnt that speak pretty poorly for the concept of taking brady in the first, especially as high as you did? you are basically saying that hes equal in worth to a pick a round later, like braylon edwards. i know we couldnt trade down, so that wasnt an option, but still. just thinkign out loud. good thoughts and commentary fumble. Fumbleweed 545 Posted June 4, 2008 Realistically, no one is going to trade for Brady and give up a first rounder, most likely. That's just me being realistic. Getting Palmer so late makes it all work out in the end....but there's no guarantee I'd deal Brady. It's just a possibility.
