Detroit homers - any chance Drew Stanton starts soon?

Recommended Posts

Any chance Drew Stanton could get a shot. If so, how do you see him doing? How did he look in training camp, pre-season, etc?

As a CJ owner I have the same concern. How much slack does Kitna have?

Kitna still has plenty of slack...at least until they are out of it, even then Marinelli will play him to try and save his job. Orlovsky will be next in line, not Stanton.

Orlovsky is in his last yr of his contract and really doesnt have a ton of upside, so no, he is not next in line - Stanton is. My guess is that you won't see the Stanton show until (at the very earliest 0-4) but more likely not until TGiving game when the Lions will have to admit they have nothing to keep a national audience intersted other than playing an unknown commodity at QB. Get in line slappies..

This team won't go anywhere if they don't figure out how to run the football. Kitna is Kitna and they know that. He's not going anywhere.

kitna is not the problem..... the defense is the problem. kitna is good when he doesnt have to force the ball. so he's not going anywhere for now.

Kitna sucks, but the Lions being the Lions will keep playing him, Stanton is not the answer.

Very true, Kitna is NOT the problem. The O-line and D - line are the problem. Neither line knows how to block/tackle. He is trying to force things way too often on the run because he has no line in font of him and often times people want to blame it all on him. Kitna is an above average QB but has no line in front of him. Look at Garrard now, he went how many games without an INT last year??? Now no o-line and he has 3 in 2 games..........hmmmmmmm, you people bashing Kitna need to stop always blaming the QB in Detroit and take a closer look.

I don't think so, if Marinelli wants to keep his job he needs an out or trump card which will be Staton, not Orlovsky, Orlovsky is a backup, at least with Staton that will generate some interest.

For this season Orlovsky is next in line. He is #2 on the depth chart and right now the better QB. Drew Stanton has a noodle for an arm and once again could not make it thru the preseason healthy.

Stanton is an athelete, not an NFL QB. JMO.

Orlovsky is the next QB to go in. He's been here for about three years now and is more entrenched then people think and will be given a chance at the very least. Stanton at this point is nothing more than a slightly more polished version of Mike McMahon. He does have upside but he isn't going to leap frog Dan at this point. He missed all of last year with an injury and a good part of this year's camp.

Stanton only gets in this year if Kitna is pulled, and Orlovsky flops. It would be a desperation move IMO.

Whoa whoa whoa! Have you seen stanton play? He has the strongest arm on the team (albeit, thats not saying much with Kitna and Orlovsky as his only competition), and is prob around average for an nfl qb in terms of this asset.

I agree with this. It isn't all his fault. WR's drop balls, the offensive line doesn't protect that well, defense blows....however I think it is funny that Lions fans including myself defend Kitna and say things like "it's not always the QB's fault", but we couldn't wait to get Harrington out of town. It was all of his fault that we couldn't win.....

Kiitna's winning pct: 0.41666

Harringtons winning pct: 0.46153

Only counting games started with the Lions....funny observation IMO.
