kwibby 0 Posted September 22, 2008 Report: Westbrook could miss Week 4 game Keith Olbermann said on NBC's Sunday Night Football pregame show that the "early word" is Brian Westbrook (ankle) could miss Week 4. Westbrook will have an MRI on Monday. Coach Andy Reid confirmed that the ankle is not broken and should have another update by Tuesday, although the Eagles could be less than revealing about the injury's extent. Correll Buckhalter would start at Chicago if Westbrook can't go. Lorenzo Booker and Tony Hunt could help on third and short-yardage downs, respectively. Filthy Fernadez 2,696 Posted September 22, 2008 It was all that talk about Westy 'cruisin' to the Top RB Honor this year. Guys jinxed him. At least I'll pick up Buckhalter off waivers.
kwibby 0 Posted September 22, 2008 Brian Westbrook-RB-Eagles Sep. 21 - 10:07 pm et Brian Westbrook (ankle) was on crutches in the locker room after Sunday's win over the Steelers. Players are often given crutches as a precaution, so don't read too far into this. The Eagles are currently saying that Westbrook, who's scheduled for an MRI on Monday, has an ankle "strain" after X-rays revealed no break.

I'm no doctor, but it should be swollen like a grapefruit come morning, which may or may not subside by Sunday
mambokings 0 Posted September 22, 2008 I agree that it should swell up pretty badly. Buckhalter becomes a hot WW pickup.
bugzy 1 Posted September 22, 2008 Not that Buckhalter is going to be worth playing. Every year he comes in when Westrbrook gets hurt and doesn't do much (as far as I remember.) Philly is not like other teams with good lines that can plug in different backs and have them produce. Westy makes something out of nothing half the time. mambokings 0 Posted September 22, 2008 Not that Buckhalter is going to be worth playing Against Pittsburgh, he ran the ball 10 times for 43 yards. He also had 6 receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown. This was in limited action. What's not to like about it

mhaggy 0 Posted September 22, 2008 Every year when Westy gets hurt Reid just throws twice as much instead of giving Westy's carries to another back. I would be exceptionally hesitant to play Buckhalter week 4 even if Westy doesn't play.

mambokings 0 Posted September 22, 2008 Get Slaton instead thats what I've been doing If he's out there on your WW, sure, but it's more likely that Buckhalter is available.
Jags_win_this_year 0 Posted September 22, 2008 Get Slaton instead thats what I've been doing. yes, because he's available in almost all 4 team leagues. on subject I wouldn't expect too much out of Buck, he seems to get this shot atleast 2-4 times a year and never does anything with it. Jules 0 Posted September 22, 2008 Had an X-ray which came out negative, so it's not broken at least. Think it may only be a strain and will do MRI today for further details.

Sometimes with ankles a sprain can take even longer to heal than a break, especially breaks of the fibula. Just sayin...
GhostofMeanMachine99 1 Posted September 22, 2008 Okay, a few misconceptions in this thread: 1. Buckhalter is not injury prone. Yes, he's had a few knee surgeries. However, he's about 3 years removed from the last one. 2. History shows that Buckhalter does relatively nothing when he plays for Westbrook. Um, what did he do Sunday, against what is typically a tough Steeler defense? Now I wouldn't expect Buck to do much next week, only because they're playing the Bears. I would expect Booker to get more looks next week as opposed to Buckhalter. Reid and Marty can script more plays for Booker, similar to what they do with Westbrook. They don't script plays for Buck because he's not in the same mold as the other two.
The Hood 9 Posted September 22, 2008 Eagles coach Andy Reid said star running back Brian Westbrook is hobbled by a sprained ankle and his availability is day-to-day.But Reid said he still hoped to have Westbrook available Sunday night when the Eagles travel to Chicago for a prime time match with the Chicago Bears."He's limping around today without the crutches. We'll see how he does. It'll be a day-to-day situation," Reid said. "We'll try to get him ready for Sunday." Westbrook was due for an MRI on the injured ankle later today. link update per SI.com - An MRI on Monday revealed no damaged ligaments, coach Andy Reid said. Best news that could have been expected I guess.

Cuse9 128 Posted September 22, 2008 Brian Westbrook-RB-Eagles Sep. 22 - 12:50 pm et The MRI on Brian Westbrook's ankle didn't reveal any serious damage. He's "day-to-day" with an ankle strain. Source: Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News
GridIronAssassin#1 0 Posted September 22, 2008 Starting Buckhalter @ Chicago will probably net you 50 yards and 0 touchdowns. I need more production than that.
GhostofMeanMachine99 1 Posted September 22, 2008 Starting Buckhalter @ Chicago will probably net you 50 yards and 0 touchdowns. I need more production than that. If there were one guy to start from a fantasy perspective, it would be Booker. He's the guy who they will run the "Westbrook" plays for and not Buckhalter. Besides, I don't see the Bears giving up the run that easily next Sunday nite.
Dan6 0 Posted September 22, 2008 I grabbed Booker because Buckhalter was taken. It wasn't and really isn't clear what they will do without him. 2 factors here though in my mind: (keeping in mind Buckhalter was gone in my league) 1. PPR leagues, Booker could catch a few balls and bail you out since 2)Eagles play on Sunday NIGHT next week. If reports are that Westbrook will likely play you can hold off and then if he is mysteriously scratched at least I have a backup plan in Booker to avoid the goose-egg. You'll have to stay tuned this week though.
smash-a-mus 6 Posted September 22, 2008 I think if Westbrook is out for week 4, Buckhalter is a great play. Eagles have always been a good team catching defenses off guard with Screens. SO, even if Buckhalter only runs for 50 yards on 10-15 carries, I can see at least 30 yards receiving + a touchdown if we are lucky. Buckhalter is very familiar with the Reed's game plan so his transition to being a spot starter should be seemless. I watched the game last sunday and Buckhalter looked pretty fast, even against the strong steeler's defense.
