Blockbuster trade completed, opinions wanted!

Recommended Posts

OK first of all this is not a help forum question. This deal is done already.

As commish of the league & considering the magnitude of the deal and players involved, I wanted to get some outsiders opinions.

Before trade.

Team A:

Cutler

AJ, S.Smith, Calvin, Housh, L.Moore

Bush, MJD, Chris Johnson

Team B:

Rodgers

R.Brown, S.Morris, L.Maroney, F.Taylor

Marshall, Chambers, A.Randel El, I.Hilliard

Team A traded: Reggie Bush, Steve Smith, Calvin Johnson

Team B traded: Ronnie Brown, Brandon Marshall, Chris Chambers

This league has standard scoring with .5 PPR.

Opinions?

Clearly Team A is a moron.

An argument could be make for team A, i don't think it's that far off. I actually like Ronnie Brown/Marshall better than Reggie/SS. And without Roy and Kitna Calvin could be garbage

When I evaluate a trade first I look at the best player in the trade. Because usually that's who has the edge in the deal.

In this instance I think the best player is Brandon Marshall which favors team A. Then if you break it down player by player.

Marshall > Smith

Bush > Brown but not by much and an argument could be made for Brown

Calvin = Chambers

So I see it as a pretty even deal with a slight edge to team A getting the best player overall.

Can I ask how Team A drafted all those players?

Team A:

Cutler

AJ, S.Smith, Calvin, Housh, L.Moore

Bush, MJD, Chris Johnson

REALLY? must you cut down a remotely good team... this follows preseason adp fairly well...

not sure who would be the 1st rounder actually, bush?or mjd? AJ in the 3rd, Cutler/Housh 4th/5th

Calvin 6th, Smith 7th... not like this is proposterous.

Just because hes got a pretty good lineup now, it may have looked like sh!t week 1... with all the bradys, mannings, owenses, mosses, tomlinsons, and petersons out there, but this is a solid drafted team

The guy wasn't "cutting down a good team". He was simply asking how he drafted those guys. Simple question. I don't see how he is bashing him at all? If it's a small league I'll agree he could draft those players. If it's a bigger league it would be tough to get them all. In any event, it was only a question.

And those are merely the guys he's trading, you would assume he has a couple better players that he kept. So, asking how he acquired/drafted the players is a valid question. You are assuming he's trading his first seven picks. Which I find amazing, never seen it before?

Ah, didn't realize that was their entire team. I agree with you. Definitly possible that he drafted them. I also I agree with you on people are always ready to rip on someone for drafting a great team.

There are only two ways to have a great team in here:

1..."You're in a league with idiots" or "Two man league"

2..."You" drafted the team. Of course if "I" draft/assemble a great team it's because I'm a genius, but if anyone else does it it's because they play in a league of idiots.

Maybe he's just pointing out the obvious fact that anyone in a redraft league who has 5/6 guys on his roster that normally go in the first 2 1/2-3 rounds was involved in a very weak draft. I don't think that's bashing anyone, it is was it is. And yes I agree with him that it's ridiculous to even give advice to anyone who can play in a league where you can draft a team like that.

It's like shooting fish in a barrell. Are you saying there is a logical answer as to how he assembled that team if he's in a league of competent owners? I can't see it.

My guess assuming it's a 10 team league:

1. Maurice Jones-Drew......early, but this is all I can figure?

2. Andre Johnson....went 2nd round in my 14 teamer

3. TJ Houshmand....solid #1 wr, reasonable he goes here.

4. Reggie Bush...not alot of hype around him going into this year.

5. Steve Smith...with the two game suspension he seemed to go later this year.

6. Calvin Johnson...ten team league, I can see him going around here.

7. Chris Johnson....Lendale was the starter, so CJ could have easily fell here.

8. Jay Cutler....QB's can alwasy be had later.

Safe to assume Lance Moore was a fa pick up.

It's conceivable that this is how he drafted? But, I'm only guessing?!

Really?!?!? you couldnt be any wronger here....

best player in a 1/2 ppr league is Reggie Bush - he has 107.5 points, and Marshall has 67.5. Even when you break it down by game, Bush is averaging roughly 18 ppg, while Marshall is at 13 ppg. So how is Marshall the best player??

Regardless, Marshall is better than Smith, I grant you that much...but not by as much as people would think...Smith is averaging 10 ppg, so a few behind Marshall, but Calvin has a few more points than Chambers, who is injured and missing time.

So one team is giving up the best player, averaging by far the most points, and gives up two solid top15 WRs for a rb averaging less points, a slightly better receiver, and a slightly worse wr who is currently not even playing...

It's simple ....

Team A wanted the QB/WR hook ... that way when Team A played Team B every week, Team B doesn't cancel out Cutler.

This. Not even close.

I'd veto the trade simply because Team B won't win with that lineup and Team A is probably too dumb to win.

ADP- 10 team 12 team 14 team

Maurice Jones-Drew 3.01 2.09 2.06

Andre Johnson 2.08 2.06 2.05

TJ Housh 3.03 2.11 2.10

Reggie Bush 4.01 3.06 3.02

Steve Smith 3.10 3.07 3.03

Calvin Johnson 5.01 4.05 4.03

Chris Johnson 9.09 8.01 7.06

Jay Cutler 9.09 8.06 7.06

this could be a Brady team, early first round pick focked, get mjd and AJ on the 2/3 turn, get Bush and Housh on the 4/5 turn, Calvin and smith on the 6/7 turn

(in a 10-team) this is also barring any potential trades

 at the 'cancel out' theory which is garbage. I have Warner and absolutely spanked the Fitz owner several weeks ago when Boldin (on my team as well) caught the 2 or 3 TDs.

Never veto anything. If it's obvious collusion, just kill them but never veto anything. If you think they're exceptionally stupid work out a deal with him then boot him next year.
