Ace08 11 Posted June 5, 2009 like the mccoy pick. i had an eye on him but wondered where he would go, though i figured no way he got past 9.12 to v4e. i actually love mccoy, but im not positive he woudl be the immediate beneficiary of the westy injury so thats mostly why i didnt take him. I'd be absolutely floored if that other guy was ahead of McCoy on the depth chart come opening day. The disparity in talent is huge and the Eagles are really high on the kid. If Westy comes back healthy it's all moot anyways cause I'm sure Reid will ride him...but I just think McCoy offers tremendous upside and his chances at significant touches just increased significantly with this news. Westy's on the wrong side of 30 and his entire game is predicated on speed and quickness which are usually the first things to go with those types of injuries. JScott 20 Posted June 6, 2009 At 9.08 I was looking at either Carlson or Hasselbeck to backup my starters. Carleson was taken a few picks earlier so still happy to get Hass. So now I have two QBs coming off injuries last season ... Hass is one of the last QBs I feel could be a QB1 if necessary. SEA is not a power running team and with the addition of Housh, plus Carleson/Burleson they do have weapons to throw to. In addition they play in a pretty week defensive division. robb 81 Posted June 6, 2009 Thoughts on Running Back Rice, my 9.10 selection (some borrowed, see below): Rice, McGahee, and McClain combined for about 500 carries, 2,000 yards and 18 TDs plus another 75 catches for 600+ yards. If split 2 ways and he is one of them, could be gold as a starter. Other things to consider: *McGahee had knee surgery *McClain added weight and is back to Fullback. Out of necessity, he did great at tailback last year, but the Ravens had Neal at FB. McClain is now the only FB on the roster. He might get carries in a single back formation, but he's the FB when Rice/McGahee are in there. So that's a lot fewer carries for him. *Rice is now running as the first RB in OTAs *He's no longer a rookie. He understands the offense better, has definitely worked out and bulked up in the off-season, and the Ravens love the prospect of throwing to him out of the backfield this year. Plus, the O line was decent last year and will probably be better this year, particularly if Yanda is healthy and returns to RG. *Who knows about McGahee? The Ravens had to keep him this year because of his cap number, but he's not part of their future. *The Ravens have one of the toughest SOS for WRs and QBs, and one of the easiest for RBs. (KFFL) Mike Duffy, of BaltimoreRavens.com, reports Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said he believes RB Ray Rice could be an every-down back this season because he added bulk to his upper body during the offseason. "Not that he wasn't a tackle-breaker last year - he was a tackle-to-tackle runner at Rutgers, that was what he did - but he's come a long way," Harbaugh said. "Now, people see him as a third-down back because of the success he had last year, but I don't think we have any question that he can be an every-down back." As has been the case during this entire draft, I was going back and forth between two guys. The guy I did not pick went in the pick immediately after mine. I was going back and forth between Rice and Chambers for my pick. I like Rice this year as well, but my depth at WR was less than my depth at RB, so I went with Chambers. remote controller 143 Posted June 6, 2009 I love the FredJackson pick, and he was suppose to be gone at 9.02. I was on jobsite when JScott called and had a classic brain fart. I had considered Sproles and Washington, settled on Jackson, then chose Sproles. I am hoping for the talk about earning his money coming to fruition. The talk is 12 touches a game which could easily warrant rb #4 status.
