Reliable Player Projection Resources

Recommended Posts

Just a thread to post links to sites' projection pages that I consider to have reliable projection data. Projection data isn't quick, and if you try to do it quick, you get a stinky mess. Good projections take time and a lot of energy. I trust these sites and consider them to be solid.

Kudos to team Mike here for churning this good stuff out (for free! :overhead: ) each year... and with that, here goes:

Thanks for the list, and props!

In a related note, I just polished off a screencast tutorial today that demonstrates the steps to import projections into the Compiler via Projection Pal. I just need to talk to Mike K. about it first, because it is big - 50MB - and I don't want to be blamed for you guys blowing up the server. I'd YouTube it right now, but I'm also over the 10min limit mark. One way or another, we'll put it up soon.

I love two sites....fftoday and fantasyguru.com. Hansens players to avoid/target last year was rediculously good. You can even go back and look at previous years contents and check it out. Both sites are the best in my opinion.

For what it is worth ... When I throw together my projections, my baseline is a "special mix" of FFToday and FootballDocs. From there I just tweak a couple of guys I am really geeked about.

I've uploaded projections from Fantasy Sharks here: http://www.4shared.com/file/125638117/173e...rojections.html

The file is a projection pal xls document so it should be all set to import to your compiler file.

Last year, I also used Rotoworld projections and may use them again or try Football Docs.

What other projections do people like to use?

Feel free to upload your projection pal files so that users can share.

Thanks for that...I have after several years never been able to get Projection pal to work...

I wish i could get some one to do this for some of the other sites...

I'd like to easily import ESPN auction values, not because they are necessarily reliable, but it is what I've found many people go by. I'd like a way to easily compare ESPN to the Cheatsheet with Notes tab that shows the ADP and auction values. I want to be able to easily spot the undervalued players that, so I know who to target in the draft.

Also, is there any way to get a flag or warning if I'm trying to draft a player that has the same bye week as another player at that position that I already drafted? That would help.

I find that especially in an auction, it's pretty much non-stop trying to get players entered and only 1:30 to make my pick. If the players could highlight if they have the same bye weeks as players on my roster, this would be very helpful to me.

Any tips?

No real tips on highlighting or warning based on bye weeks, but I want to check (since some people miss this), you do know you can see all the bye weeks quickly just for you team, right? It is on the by team tab. Click on the "+" sign above your team name, which opens up more detail about the players including bye weeks. Hopefully you already knew about it, but like I said, some people do miss it.

You should be able to get the auction values into one of the custom fields. Did you see the Projection Pal screencast? Check it at:

Is there any centralized location where users are uploading properly formatted XLS files for easy projection importing? I would love to import projections for other sites but the process seems a little tedious. I would be happy to perform the formatting for one site if other users would do the same. Any ideas... is someone already doing this? It seems like a no-brainer to pool our efforts together and get access to many projection sources.

Yes, we can!!! :pointstosky:

I'm going to have to leave this one to you guys. We can't provide projections from other sites, since that is there content and we don't have the right to distribute it, and also keep in mind many websites charge a subscription fee for their pre-season service including projections, so it isn't meant to be shared, particularly to a broad audience. My 2 cents. MM out.

What about sites that have good projections and are also easy to import? I got CBS as my Site B but I had to cut and paste it in. My draft is Friday and Id like to add a third set of data, but only if I can import it easily.

You could do that - put other projections into the 2006 stats, 2007 stats, 2008 stats and even 2008 2nd half stats sections. It is pretty simple. Use Projection Pal to put them into Site B or C, and then just copy the whole section of projections from Site B/C and move over and paste them right over top of the stats in one of those stat sections. Just watch the column headings. I think the stat sections have a column for Games, while FF Today, Site B and C do not.
