B Jacobs

Recommended Posts

Last year he had about 220 touches. With Ward gone does anyone see this going up to around 250.

He doesn't get much fanfare on this board, at least it seems that way, but he was the 4th best RB on a PPG basis in non-PPR.

Even is he misses a couple of games, when he does play this guy is 100 yards and 1 TD, almost guaranteed.

If he can stay healthy he could potentially be the top 5 by seasons end.

If he misses a few games you still have a top 5 RB while he plays.

Is he being overlooked? Ignored?

Most people on this board will not say anything about Jacobs until he gets injured. Then it will be I told you so and call him Brenda. I think he will average about 90 yards and a TD a game. The almighty Bradshaw is taking over Wards duties. I would not look for much of a increase in Jacobs work load.

Yep...id say youll get exactly what you got last year....which certainly isnt bad......but i dont see a lot of fluctuation in this guys game. Which is good and bad.....

I agree.....a solid 90 and 1td per game......the variance is how much or if he gets injured. Remember....nobody tackles this guy....he gets chopped at the knees. Bound to get banged up.

Jacobs sounds like the kind of guy you draft as your Rb#2 and hope to get top 5 RB numbers for as many weeks as possible and have a decent backup RB2/Rb3 to fill in on the weeks he sits.

Without Plaxico the Giants offense fell off considerably.

Now they no longer have Plax or Toomer. So, no starters at WR are playing for the Giants next year.

I think Brandon is overvalued across the fantasy landscape and I'm avoiding him this year in all my leagues.

I dunno....im not sure that makes a enormous differnece. Teams were stacking the box against NY anyway and making Eli make throws to beat them......and focusing on slowing that 3 headed monster down.

Might be right....but i dont think its possible to slow him down to a great extent with as many touches as he'll get. Its not as if the offense wont move at all now.

Listening to NFL radio a few days ago they said with Plax the Giants were leading the league in scoring. Without him they dropped 14 points a game and went 2-4.

On top of that, Toomer is gone too.

Brandon is an injury risk and the passing offense is anyone's guess. I'm avoiding all Giants this year except for the Defense since they are likely going to be a sack monster. I can see the Giants engaged in low scoring games this year. I'm not taking the risk on Jacobs with other quality backs still on the board. Someone else can deal with the Giants offensive unknown.

Hmmm... that's an interesting point regarding Plastic Hoe... I've been warming up to the idea of Jacobs as an RB2 with high upside (with high injury risk of course)... gonna have to think more about it. I'm also not a fan of the fact that the dude is not a receiving threat WHATSOEVER. He had a whopping 12 targets last year. Yeah, I know, Ward got all the backfield receiving targets, but c'mon... let's mix it up a little G-men. A screen to Jacobs wouldn't hurt every once in a while...

I'm targeting Bradshaw to receive the 200+ touches that Ward/Bradshaw received last year. Jacobs cannot be on the field at 3rd and 6. What's he going to do? Catch a pass? I don't think so. Bradshaw is the ff value running back from this squad.

I still love what Jacobs brings to the table when he's on the field. 10+ td's and the yards to go along is nothing to complain about. That's a great #2 rb IMO. Plus you get to smile when watching the Sunday highlight reel as he mows somebody over. <_<

Every time I see Jacobs run he reminds me of Earl Campbell. VERY different runners but VERY similar styles. Jacobs problem, as I see it, starts when he hits a pile and tries to move it. While he's churning those big legs, some LB is coming in for a taste of the action. Couple that with Jacobs height and it's a recipe for disaster.

I think the man would be better off cutting his losses at times, and not exposing himself to those knee injuries that his strength and toughness are helpless against.

This is why I'd avoid Jacobs. He's being drafted assuming he gets last years' numbers or better. The way that offense sputtered without Plaxico, he won't get 15 TD's this year. Eli is a mediocre QB. Defenses will not respect Eli, Steve Smith, Dominic Hixon and a couple of rookies in the passing game. The giants still have a good O-line, but I'm going to bet that Jacobs will struggle more against the league's better defenses as teams playing the Giants won't respect the passing game.

I agree about Jacobs being a stud. He was the man once Tiki left and he has proved it. He is a strong tough runner who gets lots yards and most ofall the goal line stuff. If he stays heathy is a question you can ask about almot every player in the NFL. stud or not.

Yes on Jacobs

totally agree... i think i'd have an ulcer with him on my team this year. I'm staying away. I think his ceiling is pretty high for a RB2, but his floor is also low

Jacobs runs behind on of the best offensive lines in the League and he has averaged a solid 841 yards and 9 tds the past three seasons. If he gets just his average then I would be content, but he is likely to get more yards and a few more Tds than his average.

I had Jacobs along with Portis last season.

As I saw from an earlier post, Jacobs is going #1 but should be a #2 Rb on a FF team.

Jacobs frustrated me down the strech.

Does he have top 5 Rb ability..yes, but I think his running style will create more injuries.
