How many carries for Ray Rice

Recommended Posts

Is there any indication out of the Ravens camp indicating how many carries and possibly how many touches this guy will get.

He seems like a good value pick but MacGahee is still lurking around to steal carries and I wonder if LeRon might be featured at the goal line. Although it might seem likely that he would be the FB leading the way for Rice.

Just trying to figure this situation out.

Willis McGahee - RB, Baltimore Ravens

CBSSports.com reports Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice will take carries away from RB Willis McGahee and FB Le'Ron McClain, including in the red zone. Rice will also be heavily used out of the backfield for screen passes.

I was thinking maybe 14-15 carries and 4-6 rec per game. If he can get the majority of red zone touches he may see 10 TD's.

Regardless i can see 1400 yards from him, especially if MacGahee gets hurt.

I made a mistake by taking McClain over Rice.

I now see they asked LeRon to add a lot of weight not to run, but to block. Oh well, it won't be the last mistake I will make.

I just got offered F.Gore and N.Buerelson for R.Rice and Regie Wayne. I hate to give up Wayne but the situation with Rice is so up in the air right now. I can see Rice getting 1200 7 or 8 touchdowns.

Well you pretty much summed up FGore there.......good yards......bunch of catches....not a lot of TDs. So it comes down to RWayne vs NBurleson.........hmmmmm?

First drive in this week's game. Baltimore got to the goalline. Here is the play chart that you will NOT see in the boxscore:

Play 1 from 1 yard line: I-formation. Rice HB, McClain FB. Timeout called by Carolina

Play 2 from 1: I-formation. Rice HB, McClain FB. Handoff dive by McClain, no lead blocker, no gain.

Play 3 from 1: Offset I strong side. Rice HB, McClain FB. False start Baltimore RT

Play 4 from 6: Offset I strong side. Rice HB, McClain FB. Delay of game Baltimore

Play 5 from 11: 4 Wide, shotgun. Rice HB. Sack. Rice could have protected better. Usually a strength of his.

Play 6 from 16: 4 Wide, shotgun. Rice HB. Look in pass to Rice. Gain of 7.

Play 7 from 9: Missed FG

So, what do we make of this? I think it is extraordinarily positive for Rice, somewhat positive for McClain and a real downer for McGahee.

If you bought a FF magazine off the stands, even just a few days ago, they were still PRINTED a month and a half ago, or two months. Back then, McClain was projected to get the biggest share of the workload. That's why it is a good idea to check internet sites, which update at least once a week.

Personally, I took Ray Rice on Sunday in the fourth round of my redraft league as my rb3/flex starter (to couple with Chris Johnson and Ronnie Brown) and got a few jeers for it. However, with the defense Baltimore plays, their propensity to run the football and Rice's physical abilities, I'm very high on him this year and think he could develop into my rb2 or even top RB by season's end. He should get plenty of opportunities both rushing and receiving for a team that loves to run the ball behind a big physical o-line, protected by a dominant defense - can't ask for much more in terms of situational positives for a fantasy back.

In summation, I was more than happy to take Rice in the fourth round despite his ADP, I wanted to make sure I got him.

I did the exact same thing. Round 4.

He could easily be a solid RB2 for a team.

Getting him as an RB3 that you can start each week in the Flex position, that is strong.
