Mr. Sims-Wlker

Recommended Posts

He's available in my keeper league... have been monitoring him for the last 2 yrs with a short stint on my squad last year. Would have to cut Ward or Braylon. Is it time to believe?????

I'm a believer as this is year three and I think he puts it all together. His problem has never been talent or tools, it's been injury. If he stays healthy, he will be the real deal. Garrard loves him and he has basically the same targets as Holt and MJD. There are really only three offensive weapons on that team and the Jags should be behind a lot this year and throwing. Also, the upcoming schedule is very WR friendly. I was lucky to pick him up before the guys on NFL.COM and ESPN started mentioning him so if he's available go get him. He had the breakout game in week 2 and had another solid game last week (caught a ball at the one that he should've tried to score on). I think he should have a monster game tomorrow.

I've totally drunk the koolaid, and if it helps, I'm starting him over Braylon in my (happens to be keeper) league. From a keeper potential I'd probably drop Ward who is long in the tooth (I presume you mean Hines).

Im going through the decision of starting him or Hines Ward this week. Ward's got a better matchup (Det), and I'm thinking I'm going to play him as he's consistent. Pit has been a throw-first team this year as well. However, I think MJD is going to struggle running against the Titans, so they might be looking to pass more, and MSW seems like he's emerging as the team's number one pass option -- so I'm not sure which way I'm going to go.

If its keeper, I'd go MSW. If its just for this game/season, I think its a close call between him and Ward.

it might help you make your decision if you looked at week 4's schedule instead of week 5  H. Ward plays S. Diego this week.....not Detroit

Your league is very slow to the pick-up button. I cant believe he's still out there.

It is well past time to believe. If I were you, I wouldn't be wasting the time to post or read the comments here, In fact I'd have picked him up ASAP after week two.

I just traded Hines Ward who was my WR3 to get an upgrade at QB because I have Sims-Walker and think he is going to start producing fairly consistently and become a good WR3. He made Hines Ward expendable for me. All reports are that he is now Jacksonville's #1 option at WR and since their only other really weapon on offense is MJD, Sims-Walker should definately be owned in all leagues. The key is that he has to stay healthy.

We are allowed only 3 non-injury roster moves all year... so choose wisely young grasshopper is the motto... i almost just want to cut Edwards so I eliminate the Cleveland QB/Braylon dropsies headache...

IMO your league rule for pick-ups is just a terrible rule, and I'd personally never play in a league that puts that absurd restriction on transactions that would significantly limit my ability to improve my team. That said, I believe that Sims-Walker is at least a WR3 with high-end WR2 potential this year as long as he stays healthy.

I'm not gonna be too quick to completely write off Braylon however. I would guess there might be someone else to drop?

Are you carrying an extra QB, TE K or D?

If the choice is really down to Edwards or S-Walker, with such tight transaction limits, T think I'd save your transactions at this point in the season. You'll be passing up a good one though.

My main money league is relatively restrictive in roster moves, inasmuch as it costs money to do pickups or trades. Two characteristics it has, which I think contribute to such restrictions:

- It is a long-standing league; I've been there 10 yrs but it has existed 15-20. This was back in the day of using USA Today stats on Monday, before the interwebs became so prevalent.

- Everyone knows each other, and is successful in life. Some people don't have the time to scour the net on Saturday to learn that James Davis was placed on IR.

In such leagues, there is a little bit of a mindset to prioritize the draft vs. constant roster changes; some historical, some pragmatic. We've relaxed things over the years as data has become more readily available, but it is still there.

Interestingly, back to the Davis example, I just looked in my league and Harrison is already gone. As is just about any prospect with a pulse (although MeMo is there, hmm). In fact there are more interesting prospects in the IBL FA pool than in this league, both 12 teams.

let's see.......

3rd year WR....check

#1 redzone target.....check

good running game to soften up the defense.....check

terrible defense so Jax will be behind....check

capable QB....check

lack of competition at WR in Jax...check

easy schedule....check

what's not to like? just because someone is claimed off the WW doesn't mean they can't produce like early round studs.....reference M Colston

His matchup is better than you think. The fact that Pitt is playing SD aside, Finnegan is probably out for Ten. Which means Mouton will be playing and most likely playing MSW. Ten has been giving it up through the air like my sister on prom night with Finnegan, so I imagine this will only increase which is already a good matchup

He is legit on talent and injury concerns.

Don't add him thinking you have a WR2 for the rest of the year but he could give you that production if he stays healthy.

I'd say he is a nice guy to own during the bye weeks but should be considered a WR3, flex option worthy of being your WR2 when match ups are nice.

That is not a touchdown, im sorry. If you have to go to the ground with possession, then you have to go to the ground with possession. Being on top of a player is not being down.

You don"t if you have 3 feet down. Regardless, he looks great. Also had a red zone look on the first TD drive. Titans defender barely made the play. He could have 3 TDs right now.

MSW is turning into Colston-esque pickup...

I said the same thing to my buddy on the phone and he laughed at me. I said laugh all you want.....look at the numbers in the only 3 games he actually started this year
