The NFL taints itself with these lay downs

Recommended Posts

So what does the thread title mean? The OP has no problem with it so he creates a thread saying the NFL is "tainted"?

Reading comprehension not a strong suit..eh?

Didn't know he was a fan but I guess that's your job to keep track of who follows which team around here? My point is that in regards to the Steelers fortunes this year, not one Steelers fans is complaining that any team laying down affected the Steelers. They are saying and I'll type slowly... The only team that affected the Steelers fortunes were the Steelers. Is that concise enough?

Introduce the ultimate flex schedule for weeks 16 and 17.

Complete all division and conference games by week 15. For weeks 16 and 17, flex the teams that are in contention to play each other. While your at it, flex the teams that have clinched against each other too.

Aside from the logistical nightmares, in essence you are proposing an extended playoffs. And then people would biotch about the week 14 and 15 tanking. :wall:

I love it!! Not only would this eliminate the "laydown" games, but it would make the end of the season better than ever! There's too many problems for it to work, but the idea of it is brilliant!

Week seventeen:

Rams vs Lions....WINNER gets the #1 pick.

Jaguars vs Steelers

Broncos vs Jets

Ravens vs Texans

Vikings vs Eagles

Colts vs Chargers

It would be fun. Don't think it would work, but it would add alot of excitement down the stretch.

I'm drowning my sorrows in old episodes of Charles in Charge and Bones.

Carry on.

The only team that affected the Steelers fortunes were the Steelers....BUT ALSO....it's a travesty that the Jets got in the way they did instead. It "taints" the playoffs. It's a major problem for the NFL that teams sit players. I am appauled. The fans should get their money back. The NFL is rooned.

I fixed it for you, to include all of the sentiment. Not just your handpicked version.

Wow, I have never seen a poster become less relevant with each keystroke. It's something to behold.

10 months. Doing great. Thanks for asking.

Also your "extended playoffs" will never fly for a host of reasons. But I like the creativity.

Are you ever gonna offer more than random off-handed comments in this thread or not?

That is not what Steeler fan is saying. Here goes the parts you skipped:

The NFL taints itself with these lay downs. It's a damn shame too.

The laydowns cheapen the game. The Jets were given a free pass into the playoffs

I'm saying that team fighting their asses off for it deserve a better shake than having it handed to the Jets.

The Jets are in because, and ONLY because, they were scheduled against Indianapolis and Cincinnati in the last two weeks of the season.

And that was just page one. But yeah, Steeler fan is not bitter and complaining at all. :)

It wasn't my idea, but I agree...never work. Home/away games, playing out of conference teams possibly twice, just too many things would get in the way.

Good to hear about the little one. Time for another little KSB now ain't it!!

Anyone still think the Jets don't belong in the playoffs?

:dunno:

Last year the Cardinals were the official "worst team in the history of EVAH#@!" to make the playoffs. Perhaps the Jets have assumed that mantle this year.

this damn tainted NFL. :pointstosky:

Teams lay down and let the Jets get in just to screw the poor Steelers, while the Patriots don't rest, Welker gets hurt, and they get throttled. And then the Jets win.

sooooooooo....are we out of tissues and ready for reality yet? The NFL is far from tainted. If you lose interest just because your team isn't in it, that's your problem.
