One of the main reason the case was dropped was a lack of DNA evidence. They did find a DNA sample, enough to identify it as a male, but not enough to do a full profile... this is bad lab work. If you have enough DNA to identify it as a male a lab should be able to do a full analysis.

De Fuer has really painted himself into a corner with these ambiguous rulings. Nobody really saw this coming when he punished Pacman but that was dangerous precedent. I guess it was because Pacman was so out of control and he couldn't just wait for things to go through the court but this Ben suspension is just craziness. And I even think Ben is a rapist but he wasn't even charged. It should have been up to Steelers to punish the guy.

I am 100% in agreement. It's one thing for you or I to "think" Ben is a rapist. Public perception or opinion on a person can be anything you want it to be. However Roger Goodell is a person of power who's opinion matters. It's really bad precedent to not go on hard facts and read into stuff so much to make rulings. The guy wasn't and never has been even charged with a crime. Peroid. It doesn't matter what some of the public thinks. It doesn't even matter what the police report says (that is one side of the story). There was a reason Ben wasn't even charged.

 

I understand why Roger is saying that even if he is innocent that he puts himself in these positions and he emarrassed the "shield" yada yada. It's not that I even disagree witht the suspendion at all. BUT, Roger Goodell is indeed painting himself into a corner with these ad hoc rulings based alot on simple accussations that have never been actually proved to be true.

 

ETA: What happens the next time and accusation happens to a big time player? Let's use the Duke LAX guys. Than can happen again to NFL athletes. They were innocent, but it took a long time to figure it all out. The police report was littered with what that stripper lied about. Does Roger have to suspend that guy based on accusations and a police report now since there is a precedent? If you just went on the police report you would have been reading a fairy tale. I'm just saying is all.
