IMMensaMind 462 Posted April 26, 2011 Arent you also responding every time they post. This same argument can be used against you, can it not? Sure! I've already said that I'm obsessed with destroying the liberal ideology. It's great, isn't it? It makes every post I write impossible to ignore! Of course, I add substance, and refute arguments with logic before they get nuked by idiots who don't have much but the insult button, but these are people who claim that I'm everything bad and useless/etc, but they cannot stop talking about me, and they cannot help but read. What I do, I do by choice. They cannot help but respond to the pulls of my strings.

Thank you, Nikki It's funny how you parade your personal beliefs here while then directly contradicting them. FeelingMN 273 Posted April 26, 2011 I've not kept up with this thread so I don't know what's been said....though I've got a sneaking suspicion not much new. A while ago I read a few books from Phillip Ball focusing on patterns in Nature. They're really dense and difficult...and they seem to address the same issues being discussed here....though ID was never seriously considered...at least not that I remember. As part of a trilogy of books exploring the science of patterns in nature, acclaimed science writer Philip Ball here looks at the form and growth of branching networks in the natural world, and what we can learn from them. Many patterns in nature show a branching form - trees, river deltas, blood vessels, lightning, the cracks that form in the glazing of pots. These networks share a peculiar geometry, finding a compromise between disorder and determinism, though some, like the hexagonal snowflake or the stones of the Devil's Causeway fall into a rigidly ordered structure. Branching networks are found at every level in biology - from the single cell to the ecosystem. Human-made networks too can come to share the same features, and if they don't, then it might be profitable to make them do so: nature's patterns tend to arise from economical solutions. http://www.amazon.com/Branches-Natures-Patterns-Tapestry-Three/dp/0199237980/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1303855199&sr=1-3 On the other hand Branches shows that each of these phenomena have something in common. As the book's many illustrations tell us, they all look a bit like the branches of a tree, with a medium splitting repeatedly into two. And they also show (in Ball's words) 'a delicate balance of chance and determinism': rain falling randomly on a randomly rough surface gives rise to patterned river networks; weaknesses spread randomly through a piece of glass give rise to a predictable crack pattern. Many of them are also examples of fractals: each branch splits into two branches, which split again, and so on down the magnitudes. The shapes of many of the phenomena in the book can also be explained by a 'minimization principle': a branching river network minimises the rate at which the water loses energy; the branch network on a tree minimises (according to some scientists) the length of each branch. http://www.popularscience.co.uk/reviews/rev492.htm Seems like science is looking at complex patterns found in nature and is fine with explaining them in terms other than God. Some people are cool with this....some aren't.

Now seriously, Nikki: do you suffer such psychosis that you actually froth yourself into believing that I was offering to meet Frank to fight? You're the one trying to eg him on; I just told you that Frank doesn't have the horsepower. He can choose to meet me if he believes otherwise; that's his choice. I haven't said a single thing about instigating a fight, just that I'm going to be in Texas in a couple of weeks. I also didn't say a thing about hitting you. I used an analogy. Yeah, I skimmed through the last ~10 pages....this thread has devolved. It's rare that we find such concensus around these parts. Mensa is the great uniter. Nonetheless, I think the subject matter is interesting and I like discussing ideas. There are plenty of good folks out there trying to explain Nature....and they can do it pretty well without invoking God....because that's the stuff of Religion. Continue to be so in yours and other's heads. FeelingMN actually looked me up (thanks, Feeling! ).
