bsballkingben99 2 Posted September 12, 2011 Or do we expect decent WR2 numbers all year?
DaDanimal 2 Posted September 12, 2011 either way he's on my bench scoring more points than Vjax and Nicks who were starting for me
murf74 461 Posted September 12, 2011 Safety overtop and he gets shut down and Cam gets happy feet. So I vote for fluke
cdogge 17 Posted September 12, 2011 180 yards and 2 td's?? Yes, that's a fluke. But!!! The dude is going to have a very nice year with Newton as his QB. Kinda like how D. Jackson benefits by having Vick.
heavy-set 39 Posted September 12, 2011 as long as Clauseen is on the bench, you need to be starting steve smith
RSersen 0 Posted September 12, 2011 either way he's on my bench scoring more points than Vjax and Nicks who were starting for me Exact same situation here. Not that I would have started Smith over either of them anyway. I'm buying. Newton appears to be a competent QB, and that's really all Smith needs to succeed. IGotWorms 4,060 Posted September 12, 2011 I think it was somewhat of a fluke. Arizona had terrible coverage on him. And Cam Newton definitely is not throwing for over 400 yards every week. The original Steve Smith might well outplay his fatnasy draft position this year, but I wouldn't get too carried away.
skoal2k4 15 Posted September 12, 2011 He's fools gold and will blow up your bench... start him and he'll disappoint you
Gepetto 1,417 Posted September 12, 2011 Go ahead and ignore his whole career and think it's a fluke if you want.
murf74 461 Posted September 12, 2011 Go ahead and ignore his whole career and think it's a fluke if you want. Go ahead and ignore the last couple seasons....
rallo 136 Posted September 12, 2011 great speed coupled with a qb who can buy time and throw the deep ball... i doubt he'll be consistent, but smith sure knows how to get open, and newton actually keeps his eyes downfield... better outlook than i thought he'd have this year

vjr23 2 Posted September 12, 2011 Go ahead and ignore his whole career and think it's a fluke if you want. Says everyone who keeps drafting him year after year... Go ahead and ignore the last couple seasons.... Says everyone who got burned by him and will never draft him again... i doubt he'll be consistent... better outlook than i thought he'd have this year I think you're both a little right and rallo has a pretty good insight - considering his situation, most likely he'll be inconsistent yet probably better than what most expected heading into the season. tanatastic 2,062 Posted September 12, 2011 Go ahead and ignore the last couple seasons.... This is good advice actually. You can ignore the last few seasons with terrible qb production. An above poster was correct when he said all smitty needs is a competent qb throwing the ball to succeed. Im not saying he will be a stud or anything, but wr2 numbers are more than realistic for one of the most talented wrs in the league to average.

SameSongNDance 0 Posted September 12, 2011 I wouldn't buy but I sure would love to have the option to flex Smith in PPR. He looked great, plain and simple.
Borat33 17 Posted September 12, 2011 Took a flyer on him, maybe he can be a decent wr2. Certainly not expecting yesterdays numbers but he looked like his old self again.
