jette0903 0 Posted September 22, 2011 He practiced today (in limited fashion), which is a positive sign so early in the week. He's been useless so far, obviously, but I obtained him in my dynasty league in hopes that he could be my TE1. Unfortunately all I have backing him up is Cooley and Celek, who are both virtually unstartable in a 10 team league. Any thoughts on whether you believe Lewis can still end up as a legit TE1 in 2011? All the wire has to offer is the likes of Evan Moore and Chandler. Not sure I'm ready to make a move on one of them yet.
nearbyatom 1 Posted September 22, 2011 I drafted Marcedes Lewis. Week 1 was unproductive. I don't trust Luke McNown throwing to him. I dropped him once I read about his injury. I picked up Fred Davis. But Chandler was my other option. I would go with Chandler if I were you. Fitzpatrick has been finding him in the end zone last 2 games. I guess it's wait and see at this point. His projections were based on the assumption Garrard would be throwing the rock.

Scott Chandler has more upside at this point than anyone, with Evan Moore riding 2nd. This isn't preseason and Mercedes is FINISHED as any possible top 10 TE AT ALL. Garrard gone sealed that, coupled with his injuries. That is an automatic. Dropped him quicker than a fat chick in my own big league. Pissed I didn't go after my own homers Gronk or Hernandez thinking they would slide.
tecklc2112 7 Posted September 22, 2011 I am going to hold on to him 1 more week to see if he becomes Gabbert's favorite safety valve option.
southcarolina 166 Posted September 22, 2011 Dropped him in two leagues for Chandler. Holding on to him in the third because the best options on the WW are Tony Scheffler, Ed Dickson and Jeremy Shockey. If Lewis doesnt seem healthier by the weekend, i'll grab one of those guys and roll.

I think I'd rather have Dickson right now...(He's the #10 ranked TE in my ppr league right now)...He's been a regular target of Flacco so far (11 targets in 2 weeks). kutulu 1,676 Posted September 22, 2011 Picked up Dickson last week....dropped M. Lewis this week to get D. Moore.

I been kinda debating that.....i just hate giving up on him with no clear cut better option. If Chandler or Fred Davis were available, i'd drop him in a heartbeat. I have this scene in my head where Jack DelTaco is telling his rookie QB, "When in doubt, toss it in the general direction of your 6'8" power forward. He'll catch it." Exactly, that's why I'm hanging on to him for 1 more week to see what Gabbert does...I'd still rather have Dickson over Chandler...Chandler has 3 TDs on only 9 targets...That ratio won't last. So you would rather have the TE with the same number of receptions (7), and two fewer TDs (1) because he has two more targets over the course of two games? Obviously 3 TDs in 2 games is a pace that wont be sustained, but at least we know Fitzpatrick isnt afraid to toss it to him inside the 20.

Yes, I honestly believe by season's end, Dickson will have been the more valuable TE of the two...Especially in PPR leagues...But that's just me going with my gut. You may think the same about Chandler. Only time will tell.

OK i can buy that, I just thought it was strange that you were using Chandlers number of targets against him, when Dickson only had 2 more I have learned that my gut is a dirty nasty liar and cant be trusted,. Thats why i look at stats so much.
sketch27 1 Posted September 23, 2011 You guys go have your fun rubbin one out to Chandler and Dickson. I'll roll with the benz anytime over those guys. Now Fred Davis, thats a different story. I'm not expecting big things from Marcedes, but WHO else is there to through the ball too? Sure Mike Thomas, but it's much easier to find a 6'8 beast in the endzone than a 5'8 midget. I'm not high on any of these TE's, but definitely drinking the Fred Davis Kool-Aid.
TonyB1972 1 Posted September 23, 2011 I dropped him in 2 leagues, got Dustin Keller/ R. Gronkowski to replace him in one, and D. Keller to replace him in another that he was my #2 TE (could start him in 2 wr/rb/te flex spots also) to J. Finley. I picked up Keller in all 3 of my leagues, so I hope he keeps going, but I got decent options otherwise...Well I guess if you call D. Clark much of a option anymore in the 3rd league heh. sirensong 111 Posted September 23, 2011 I am going to hold on to him 1 more week to see if he becomes Gabbert's favorite safety valve option. i think this is the right idea, but i'd give it more than 1 week. a rookie QB is going to try to do everything--gameplan, progressions, checkoffs--"right" at first. once he gets into the rhythm of the game, he'll start finding out what works best for him. so if roster space isn't at a premium, i'd try to hold him for 2-3 weeks and then decide. PATSSOX 22 Posted September 24, 2011 Yeah i hope the Rookie looks to his TE. After Hernandez went down i had Zach Miller in one league and no Seattle player is worth owning right now and Lewis was on waivers so i picked him up to hold the fort down till Hernandez gets back. Patmos 2 Posted September 24, 2011 If you are in a 10-team league, then there is no way Lewis will be a TE1 this year. I personally wouldn't count on him as a TE1 even in a 14-team league. You're stacked at WR, maybe you can pry away a TE from someone, assuming Gresham and Cook are not available?
