Curb stomping going on in this one

And yet when it comes time to vote for the best song of the decade, it won't get a single vote.

God what a shiitty year for music.

I use the year-end Billboard top 100. That is widely held as the final word in music charts. It's not # 1 on the charts until it's #1 on Billboard.

That song not being top 10 is nuts-- maybe it really wasn't but damn thats by far the most "iconic" song of 1986

It wasn't even the most

It wasn't even the most iconic song on that album. That would be Livin' On a Prayer. But I agree, a lot of rock songs don't show well on the singles charts because rock fans bought a lot more albums, instead or singles. If it was airplay-only, it would have been top ten.

One other one that I overlooked when I made my bubbling-under list is R.O.C.K in the U.S.A by John Mellencamp. That came in at #66 and may be the most known song on the entire chart.

To me, it's between the two Mr Mister songs and Robert Palmer. I really like the opening bass line of Broken Wings. And the Palmer video was epic and still very famous. But my favorite from this very weak list is Kyrie. Always really liked that one.

Agreed.
