Huh? 7 Posted October 3, 2014 Your opponent is playing Witten and Williams so that they can cancel out your Romo. Don't let him do this. Play Flacco. Unless he also has Torrey Smith and Owen Daniels. Then you're screwed.
TimHauck 2,850 Posted October 5, 2014 Points in standard leagues: Flacco - 7 Romo - 18 Williams - 13 WItten - 5 Yes, ultimately all that matters is that Romo scored more points than Flacco. But again, the whole point is that going in you weren't really sure which of the two would score more points, and starting Romo would make it very unlikely that both your QB sucks and the opponent's receivers have great games. Oddly enough, Romo did exactly "cancel out" the total points scored by Williams and Witten, so I'd also like to pat myself on the back for coming pretty close with this post: Hypothetical: Romo - 225 yards, 2 TD's 1 INT = 16 points Witten - 70 yards = 7 points Williams - 50 yards, 1 TD = 11 points Although of course all 3 of them weren't too far off their season averages today, but that's really just more reason why it was pretty predictable that Romo would probably score around the same amount of points as Williams/Witten. So another win for the "cancel out theory" and suck it, trolls.

Except of course if you listened to this amazing advice if your opponent started Torrey and O.Daniels. You started Flacco to "cancel out" and lost 11 points.

My opponent had Wright and Hunter going so I rolled with Locker. Dang it; he didn't cancel out their points!!!!! #alsonotreally

If you're referring to the post above mine, I'm pretty sure that was an attempt at a joke. If you're just creating a hypothetical, again, basically the whole point behind this idea is not to guarantee that the QB you're using to "cancel out" will score more points than another QB you're deciding between. It's to minimize the risk of both your QB sucking and your opponent's WR's going off in the same matchup when you're projecting your QB's to score about the same. Yes, obviously Romo scored more so Romo would have been the better choice if you know what's going to happen in the future (hint: you can't), but even in your scenario Flacco only scored 3 points less than Smith and Daniels combined so you should still at least have a shot at winning. This coming from the guy who thought it was actually possible for Romo to throw every single one of his passes to 2 guys with both of them getting 200 yards and 2 TD's... Buttmonkey 8 Posted October 6, 2014 People - it's NOT ABOUT CANCELING OUT OPS PLAYERS; it's more about "hedging" your players against your ops.
