Mark91G 13 Posted April 25, 2017 am glad to see it if am honest, I don't think I would have been happy seeing last year as his sign off, remembering the season before he lead the league. Ingram is the main back he catches and blocks also. but I see Apats getting a number or reps if he stays healthy but I cant see Ingram benign happy he hated giving way to Hightower especially on the goal line / red zone which I think we might see Apats get involved in. dcgangstas 41 Posted April 25, 2017 I don't see All Day taking too many carries away from Ingram, but I would be concerned about too many short-yardage (especially goal-line) touches being siphoned away to Peterson. Ingram would continue to be the bigger factor in the passing game, since that's not Peterson's forte. Sean Payton always seemed to seek ways to steal TDs away from Ingram, even resorting to a jet sweep to Coby Fleener in one game at the stripe. Ingram had his best season last year, but Hightower was given a lot of opportunities to take an entire series or two from Ingram.
weepaws 2,461 Posted April 25, 2017 Headache. He will surely hurt Ingram. I don't see him being the stud Rb he once was, but he's going to be the finisher and the goal line back. PPR Ingram should get the higher ranking.
lesjroza 70 Posted April 25, 2017 Can we rule out the possibility of a draft day trade of Ingram? I think his contract is relatively reasonable and places his salary in the range teams seem to be willing to pay vet RBs. The Saints have been among the teams most willing to wheel and deal including currently rostered players. They would have AP on early downs, Cadet on passing downs, and I would think they would take another RB in the draft at some point in this scenario.
weepaws 2,461 Posted April 25, 2017 Sure it could happen. I don't think it will, Ingram has grown in the passing game and can still help in the rushing game. At 32 years old I don't think they want to over work Peterson. It could happen, but I would keep him.
polecatt 403 Posted April 26, 2017 It's hard for me to think AP will go into this accepting a back up role. If that's the case I don't see this working out well.I believe he's the workhorse or he's pretty much nothing. If he's healthy he's head and shoulders above Ingram, I mean we're talking about one of the best 5 RBs of all time. Unless he just needs the money so badly, and I know he has some child support payments, I don't see him sitting on the bench to collect a pay check.
weepaws 2,461 Posted April 26, 2017 I think it's just as hard to see Ingram who's coming back after his best season being benched and a clear number two Rb. Saints are a passing team, and I can see Peterson getting more rushes than Ingram, but Ingram is going to get all the work in the passing game. I think it will indeed be a Rb1a and Rb1b situation. It clearly makes this situation a tough one for ff.

The Saints like alot of the RBs in the draft that can fill the pass catching role and AP be the early down back. (ala Deuce and Pierre Thomas). Ingram may have gotten into Payton's doghouse last year and history says that may be a difficult place to return from (ala Graham and Cooks).
