Smoking At All Time Low

Recommended Posts

Smoked every day from age 18 to 43. It cost me the main artery that goes from the knee down to the toes in my left leg. Was looking at amputation if I did not quit. That was in August 2003 and have not touched a cigarette since

My wife and I have been cigarette free since New Years Day in 2014. We did it together because if one or the other smoked, we would both be smoking again in no time. We used the Blu e-cig at first and stepped down the nicotine. After several weeks of that, I bought an expensive hookah pen (the one with all the crazy flavors) but we always bought the no nicotine flavors because we still had the oral fixation. We got married in June of that year and decided if we choose to, we could smoke cigarettes on our honeymoon. We never did and I am glad we stayed strong. Eventually we got rid of the hookah pen and haven't used anything at all. I do smoke cigars, maybe once a week or one every other week. Out of habit one night I took a draw of the cigar and inhaled it. I damn near almost died! I was a hardcore smoker of 20+ years. A pack a day damn near every day unless I was sick which is not often. If I can do it any one can do it. The back of my index and middle finger on my right hand were yellow because I would smoke all the way down to the filter. You literally have to take it one day at a time. If you falter, start over. Try to string several smoke free days together. Then it becomes more of a challenge to see if you can keep the streak going. I have had many dreams in which I smoked in my dream. I woke up all bummed out that I caved. Then I realized it was just a dream and was so relieved. Smoking sucks. I never knew how bad I must have smelled when I came back into the office from smoking until after I stopped. An older guy in my office still smokes and stinks so bad when he comes in from outside. Plus you can save a crap ton of money which you can use to start another habit!

So we went to some friends house for Thanksgiving and he's been using some kind of vape thing to cut back.I'm only pointing this out because whatever he was vaping stunk worse than cig smoke IMO.I didn't say much since I was in his home but it was a very strong sweet smell that I personally thought was disgusting.

I will never understand why smokers think it's perfectly okay, in fact cool, To throw their disgusting cigarette butts anywhere they want. Go to just about any lake and the water line is rimmed with cigarette butts. Every sidewalk, every gutter, Park. It's disgusting. Most entitled bastards in the world. Even think it's their constitutional right do you have a half dozen cigarette breaks today while working. Wish it worked that way for beer.

And now in Colorado, dude smell even worse because they smell like cat piss weed.

I have sympathy for guys of my dad's generation. But if I see a 20 year old smoking these days? smoking these day? Fuking idiot.

That was one thing I was always well aware of,even had a smoker's cup in the Jeep so I wasn't tossing butts out the window.

when I did my first community service project, 19 years old cleaning up a public street, and picked up over 100 butts, I vowed to never throw another butt on the ground again.  I went with the squeeze of the tobacco and dispose of filter in trash.

What did you do to get community service? Still smoking?

I didn't get community service, I volunteered.  My fraternity adopted a street and we kept it clean.

You should think about doing something for others and your community.

Interesting that you bumped this 4 year old post.  Your obsession with me is frightening.
