Almost forgot today. Would've cost me a 254 day streak. 

I hated queue. I didn't want to guess the Q because it almost never appears. I also hate double guessing letters and there were two U's and two T's. I thought I was going to eliminate nothing. And that was with my 4th try. You were willing to plug the Q in on your third guess.

Brutal word that gave me fits. Went for it on three, learned pretty much nothing except more places where stuff doesn't go... which helped, I suppose, because everything I could think of frustratingly didn't quite fit. You know you're close but just not seeing it.

I think all the regulars have checked in. Whenever I get a few letters and I start throwing them into the boxes in different arrangements to see what works(I'm not smart, I can't do that in my head).  Cause wordle doesn't let you use spaces, I use the letter X as my space...That was the key in me getting a birdie today.

I've done that as well. Used X as a placeholder.

Also, if I get a yellow tile I try to pick a word that has that letter in two different places. For instance, if I get a yellow E in the last spot on my first guess, I will go with a word like EVENT on my next guess to see if I can place that E correctly. Often times I end up getting additional green or yellow tiles. It's risky though. If E turns out to be the second letter and there are no V's, N's or T's, I didn't really help myself other than eliminating those letters and placement possibilities.

Wow. That's the total opposite of what I do,. I'm not terribly interested in turning yellow vowels into greens, I'd take that "e" and set it aside for later. I'm mostly hunting for consonants and the 'v' is almost never a priority.

I can't do that. Playing on difficult requires you to use any letters you've revealed. Any yellow or green tiles must be used in all subsequent guesses. 

I'm always trying to properly place any yellow tiles I get. I know the word has that/those letters so getting green tiles reduces the number of possibilities. 

But hey, whatever you're doing is working for you. So, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Huh... interesting. Were I to do that, I'd have to totally overhaul how I think about this.

I've made my own challenge. Currently, I view four as neutral, fives as failures, and sixes as calamities. Not actually solving the puzzle has never happened. As a challenge, I like to maintain/achieve (such and such) ratio of 3s to 5s and 2s to 6s. It's why fives, and especially sixes, cause me so much pain and why I went to such great lengths to solve 'pixel' in 4 with only an i,e,and l to work with.

Also, this sounds like a great way to parts, warts, darts, carts, tarts your way to complete failure. Whenever that happens to me, I try to get three of the letters.... like "wiped." to stop the hemorrhaging. Strapping myself in for a slide into oblivion would make my head explode.

The game doesn't do plurals but, yeah, there have been times where I have 3 letters placed correctly and there are several possibilities for the other two. It's taken me to six quite a few times but I've always managed to pull it out.

I know, I know. I just needed a quick and easy example of the top of my head to make a point of when a single letter could go any of six way.

Removing the emergency brake that would prevent me from flying off the cliff would terrify me. I already treat a six as complete and utter failure. If my 100% ever went away, I would feel like I entered a void of despair.

I try to maintain three threes for every five and three deuces for every six. That's challenge enough for me.
