I'm always changing things up and got careless here, although I do always follow my 2+2 rule to find vowels... which I didn't have any. Third guess was magical. I was stumped for a long time but I had four letters: the last one and two letters I knew didn't go first. I submitted something with my fourth letter that sounded word-ish and that I didn't think it would take because it was too obscure. Really, I had given up, I was just hoping this whatever would take and land me more greens to set the table for something more obvious. I looked up the definition afterwards. I was shocked/disappointed that I'd not uncovered any green or new letters with two but learning where things don't go has value too. I sent a Hail Mary shot at two straight down the middle to try to sniff out the first letter, that if it failed, would eliminate as much stuff as it could along the way. I've never come this close to failure before. After four, I had two more guesses and four potential letters that could go in that #1 spot. So, I was really panicking. I resigned myself go six. For five I needed to find something that would test three of the four possibilities, but I didn't know any word that could do that! So I just starting plugging in letters combinations, hoping that I would accidentally trigger a word I never heard of before. No. No. No. No. No. Found one! And it successfully unearthed my 5th letter! I never heard of the word I used fifth -it was just some combination of letters I needed to test/eliminate- but it saved my ass and so, I looked up the definition. That was scary.
