KSB2424 3,148 Posted May 7, 2023 My boys are 14 and 11. I want to take them to DC to do the whole White House, Lincoln Memorial….all the things tour. Both kids are big Atlanta Braves baseball fans so we are going Sept 22 thru the 24th as the Braves visit Washington Nationals and will catch a game that Friday night then tour all of DC on Saturday, maybe early Sunday and drive back. It’s a 4 hour drive from Raleigh, NC. Anyway looking for tips, ideas, pointers, etc for any Geeks living nearby or has done something similar. Specifically, do I google and sign up for some guided tour or just wing it? Any things, places or areas to avoid? Must see?
BrahmaBulls 628 Posted May 7, 2023 It might take 4 hours to go from Fredericksburg to DC depending on the time of day. No joke traffic is a on I-95. It's been a while since I've done the DC stuff but from what I remember go on your own pace instead of paying for a specific tour. You probably havre to book something to tour the White House though. Avoid anything in SE DC other than Nats Park on game day.
weepaws 3,156 Posted May 7, 2023 I would avoid going to the White House. Enjoy the baseball game.
cmh6476 1,010 Posted May 7, 2023 Call your Congressman. They might give you a guided tour of the capitol and you need to go through them to get white house tickets. There are what, 11 Smithsonian museums in DC? The holocaust museum is also worth a visit.

wiffleball 4,788 Posted May 7, 2023 Are you boys pretty confident? Would you consider them to be proud boys? Because that opens up a whole list of activities to do in dc.
